Chapter 1837: Chapter 1827: Are You a Snail?
Enna Clark furrowed her brow.
Since when was she going to have a date with Lyle Westbrook? And where did Baron Lawrence hear this false news?
"Ms. Clark, I hope you can accompany Lord for a meal later. He’s really not lying about his stomach pain. Ever since he returned from Pacifica, he hasn’t had a proper meal for a while. You know about Lord’s stomach issues; he has always had them. He hasn’t been eating on time recently, which made his stomach problems worse. This morning, Young Master Sinclair took him drinking, and then he rushed back here. His stomach and body can’t handle it anymore."
Scott Harris decided to play the emotional card.
"I know Lord and Ms. Clark have already broken up, and Ms. Clark doesn’t have to care if Lord lives or dies. But Lord has been really suffering lately. Please, Ms. Clark, for the sake of the little master and little miss, show him some pity this once."
After hearing that, what more could Enna say?
If she continued to express her anger, she’d seem heartless.
Enna returned to the restaurant from the bathroom. Scott Harris had already arrived before her, standing straight behind Baron Lawrence, as if nothing had happened.
Still, Enna felt that his gaze carried a hint of entreaty.
She took a deep breath, pulled out her chair, and sat down.
A bunch of dishes had already been served, and a bowl of exquisite, beautiful seafood porridge was placed in front of her.
As Enna picked up the spoon, the man sitting opposite, out of habit, commented disdainfully, "Are you a snail? You took almost half an hour in the bathroom."
His tone was familiar, just like they hadn’t broken up.
Enna paused for a second, recalling Scott Harris’s words, suppressed her annoyance, and calmly said, "I only used less than ten minutes. There’s a fundamental difference between ten minutes and half an hour, so it wasn’t almost half an hour."
After speaking, she started drinking her seafood porridge.
Baron Lawrence was momentarily stunned by her retort, then furrowed his brow, ready to argue. Catching sight of the calm face across from him, he seemed to recall something, and his brow furrowed even more. But he pressed his lips together and swallowed back his words. He picked up the utensils beside him, his handsome face showing frustration, yet his eating movements remained graceful and poised.
Enna glanced up at him in surprise, slightly astonished that he didn’t fly off the handle today.
Normally, if she rebutted him, he’d be childishly throwing furniture around in a rage.
But he held back this time?
Did the sun rise in the west, or was he guilty for the lie he just told?
She was curious but not foolish enough to ask.
Quietly, she lowered her head and continued eating her seafood porridge.
It must be said, the restaurant recommended by Scott Harris tasted really good. The seafood porridge was perfectly thick while retaining the fresh aroma of the seafood. The shrimp and glutinous rice blended just right. She initially planned to eat a little out of courtesy, but ended up eating quite a bit.
Baron Lawrence ate even more than she did.
Like someone who hadn’t eaten a full meal in ages, he devoured more than half of the dishes on the table before elegantly putting down his utensils, wiping the corner of his mouth. He said to her, "Are you full? If you are, let’s go."
Enna had finished her meal long ago and was only staying with him as a formality. Hearing this, she immediately stood up.
