The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 386: This is a Good Thing

Heavenly Palace, Emperor Qinghua watched over the Northern Continent through the nightfall.

The Six-Eared Macaque and the Macaque King were meeting just below his sight, and Emperor Qinghua never took this former ruler of the Demon Kingdom lightly.

In his view, the biggest uncertainty in the future of the Three Realms was the Six-Eared Macaque.

Yet, after observing for several years, the Six-Eared Macaque had not made any moves like in the small worlds.

"What is he really thinking?"

Emperor Qinghua wondered and soon felt a presence approaching from behind.

"Your Majesty."

Emperor Qinghua turned around and greeted Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong had finished inspecting the Heavenly Palace and was about to leave. Seeing Emperor Qinghua, he asked, "What is the Emperor watching?"

His gaze swept towards the ground, and he quickly understood.

"Are you worried about that Six-Eared Macaque?"

"Yes."

Emperor Qinghua nodded, "The Six-Eared Macaque has awakened his memories, why hasn't Your Majesty inquired about him?"

"He is a clever man."

Sun Wukong replied, "Don't worry about him; when the time comes, he will become our strength."

Emperor Qinghua showed a surprised expression, "Why does Your Majesty say so?"

Sun Wukong shook his head; if the Six-Eared Macaque heard what he was about to say, it might not work.

Emperor Qinghua quickly realized this and did not press further.

"Buddha has already found the seventh relic; when can we make a move on the Three Great Continents?"

He continued to ask.

Emperor Qinghua disliked war, but now he was more eager than Sun Wukong to take down the Four Great Continents.

Emperor Qinghua, transformed into millions, understood human suffering better than anyone; the shift in the hearts of the people of the Northern Continent over the past five years profoundly affected him.

The problem was that the other Three Great Continents had become even more chaotic than five years ago.

"Don't rush."

But Sun Wukong was not in a hurry: "Our manpower is still not fully assembled."

Emperor Qinghua frowned, "When will it be ready?"

"Soon."

Sun Wukong shifted his gaze to a beam of light above the East Sea: "It will be assembled soon."

Emperor Qinghua looked towards that light; it was a Floating Ship flying from the Kingdom of Aolai to Huaguo Mountain.

The Emperor scanned the Floating Ship, and then his eyes slowly widened.

"Could it, could it actually..."

He looked incredulously at Sun Wukong.

That existence which all the Immortals had frantically searched for had now voluntarily approached Huaguo Mountain.

On the Floating Ship, a young man stood at the bow gazing down at the sea.

"Why can't I see Dragon Palace City?"

He asked.

The others on deck couldn't help but laugh: "Dragon Palace City is under the sea; how can you see it from here?"

Just then, a flying car suddenly passed over the sea.

The young man was dumbfounded: "What is that?"

"A flying car, and it's a new model."

A shipworker observed and said, "Normal flying cars can't fly this far; it must be a new model being tested."

"Wow, that's amazing..."

The young man couldn't help but admire.

"See, this place is really fantastic!"

He turned to the middle-aged man behind him and said, "If I had known it was this interesting, I should have come here earlier, not listening to you."

The man did not reply, his expression somewhat solemn.

For some reason, the closer they got to Huaguo Mountain, the more nervous he became.

"Master, let's go to the Ten States and Three Islands instead!"

The man said.

"No."

The young man shook his head: "The chess players from the Ten States and Three Islands can't beat me; all the top chess players from various countries have gone to Huaguo Mountain; I must go there and see."

The man grew even more uneasy: "Master, don't you think this seems like a trap?"

"Who would set such a trivial trap?"

The young man scoffed, "I've heard that in Huaguo Mountain, anyone with talent can find their place to shine."

"This young master is right."

Someone echoed the young man: "Huaguo Mountain does not reject any comer; as long as they have talent, they can be put to good use; I have a brother who is blind, but he also lives well there."

The young man looked back, only to see a fair-faced scholar accompanied by a woman approaching.

"Dare I ask your name?"

"My name is Zhang Zhi, this is my sister-in-law."

The man introduced his companion to the young man.

He and his sister-in-law were both very talkative, but due to some complicated relationships, the young man ultimately did not become friends with him.

The Floating Ship docked at the port of Yunxiao City the next morning.

The young man, accompanied by his servant, disembarked and was soon dazzled by the various sights of Yunxiao City.

In this city, everything that flew in the sky or ran on the ground was beyond the imagination of the outside world.

The young man entered an inn to have breakfast, but it was not enough; he roamed the streets in search of gourmet foods, his mouth greasy from all the eating.

Passersby on the street curiously watched him, but he did not care and kept gobbling down his food.

"This place is really interesting!"

The young man walked around for half a day before finally finding the Wanling Chess Institute.

In the past six to seven years, top chess players from the Four Great Continents had been invited here by Huaguo Mountain to delve into the art of Go.

The young man wiped his mouth and then stepped into the Chess Institute.

Once in, he spent three days challenging all the players in the institute.

"I concede."

After the last chess player admitted defeat, the young man still felt unsatisfied.

"Is there anyone else?"

The young man asked.

"There is one more."

The players exchanged glances and then said: "Our headmaster hasn't returned yet, you might be the person he has been waiting for."

"There's a headmaster?"

The young man was surprised.

"It's me."

Another voice answered from behind him.

The young man turned around and saw a youth even younger than himself standing at the door.

Under the sunlight, the youth's eyes seemed to sparkle with a golden light.

The young man had never seen this youth before, yet felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

"Is this Chess Institute fun?"

The youth asked with a smile.

"Pretty good."

The young man nodded, "It's a bit more fun than other places."

He then looked at the youth puzzled: "Who are you? Have we met before?"

"Maybe we've met before."

The youth replied, "My name is Wu Xiang."

"Wu Xiang... Wu Xiang..."

The young man muttered, as if he remembered something, yet as if he remembered nothing at all.

"Forget it."

He dismissed the thought of probing further: "My name is Zhang Yu."

"I know."

The youth said: "Let's have another game, if you win, I'll hand over the Chess Institute to you."

The young man tilted his head; he wasn't particularly interested in the Chess Institute.

But that didn't matter, what was important was that someone was challenging him.

"Come!"

The young man rolled up his sleeves and declared: "I won't lose to anyone."

The youth walked over and sat down before him.

"Young master, no..."

Suddenly, a man behind the young man voiced his concern.

The young man turned around: "What's wrong?"

"He is very dangerous."

The man replied, sweating profusely. Ever since the youth had arrived, he had been trembling.

"Don't worry."

The young man laughed: "He's not a bad person."

The man was about to object.

"Don't interrupt them."

Another voice sounded in his head.

Emperor Qinghua, who was unbeknownst to others, appeared standing beside the man: "This is a good thing."

He watched the youth and the young man begin their game.

"There is nothing better than this in the world."
