The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 463: Nezha Becomes Famous

Immortals gather at Shuilian Cave, observing a copper shield on the ground.

The shield, in silver-white, decorated with patterns of auspicious clouds and white cranes, bringing these figures to vivid life and radiating a white Immortal Energy, looking more like a silver shield.

Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad, holding a Bagua, walked several circles around the copper shield.

After he finished, the gathered Immortals couldn't help but ask, "Can this shield withstand the great calamity?"

"I do not know."

Lord Lao Zi shook his head: "But it does possess the power of a Barrier."

The Immortal Energy emanating from the copper shield was incredibly strong; there could be no deception.

He looked towards Nezha: "Nezha, I see this shield was originally a common one, it must be that you have altered the divine dew and combined it with, is that correct?"

"Yes."

Nezha quickly nodded.

Lord Lao Zi became curious: "What changes did you make to that divine dew?"

The Immortals all turned their gazes toward Nezha, they too had thought of combining the power of divine dew with Immortal Artifacts, but had never succeeded.

"I transformed the divine dew into magma."

Nezha, the focus of everyone's attention, was quite pleased: "This morning I used the divine dew to brew soup, and as the soup simmered without dispersing, it eventually turned into magma, so I poured it onto the copper shield."

"Soup turned into magma?"

The Immortals were stunned, thinking they had misheard.

"Impossible!"

Immortal Zhenyuan snorted coldly: "The divine dew, upon encountering wood, water, fire, or earth, all evaporate. I even failed when using it to brew tea, how could you succeed in making soup?"

The Immortals glanced at him.

A soup-maker was odd enough, but this one even used divine dew to brew tea.

Then again, it made sense. Out of the billion citizens of the Three Realms, someone would inevitably try using divine dew to brew soup or tea; they all failed, so how could Nezha succeed?

"I used a cauldron to brew soup."

Nezha answered: "The cauldron was made entirely of gold, so the liquid would not disappear."

"I've also tried this method."

Lord Lao Zi stroked his beard: "I used the cauldron to brew the clear divine dew; the heated liquid did not evaporate, but it showed no abnormalities."

He certainly hadn't turned divine dew into magma.

"What kind of soup did you brew?"

Lord Lao Zi asked.

"Lotus root soup."

Nezha replied.

The Immortals fell silent.

"Why lotus root soup?"

An Asura woman muttered to Qing Yuanzi.

Qing Yuanzi was puzzled: "Perhaps it's a case of 'you are what you eat'."

"Lord, there must be some mistake."

At this time, the Water Virtues Star Monarch spoke to Lord Lao Zi: "How could divine dew not dissolve when meeting lotus root?"

Lord Lao Zi sighed, feeling it didn't make sense.

"What fire did you use to brew the soup?"

He asked Nezha.

"Samadhi Fire."

Nezha replied.

Lord Lao Zi asked about a few other things but found nothing amiss.

He furrowed his brow slightly, beginning to doubt his own judgment.

"Let's test that shield first."

Lord Lao Zi thought, then took out the Vajra Ring, giving it a shake, and from it emerged a Giant Cauldron, which he placed on the ground.

In the records of previous calamities, Lord Lao Zi had positioned many Giant Cauldrons in the Asura Realm to absorb some power from Buddha Beads for experiments.

"Heavenly Emperor."

Lord Lao Zi looked toward Sun Wukong, who among those present, was best at resisting this power.

"I know."

Sun Wukong gestured casually, and a bubble appeared in the air, descending to envelope the Giant Cauldron within.

"Place the copper shield inside."

He said.

Lord Lao Zi placed the copper shield into the glowing bubble.

"Rise!"

With another gesture from Sun Wukong, the cauldron lid lifted, and a wave of clear tide surged out.

The tide struck the bubble, sizzling sounds occurred, and thick smoke enveloped the interior of the bubble.

The Immortals watched gravely.

After some time, the mist gradually dissipated, leaving only an empty Giant Cauldron and an intact copper shield within the bubble.

"It's actually undamaged."

"Not even a scratch!"

The Immortals were shocked, their eyes on the copper shield turning excited.

It indeed possessed the power of a Barrier.

Lord Lao Zi looked toward Nezha: "Think carefully again, what else did you do when making the soup?"

"What else?"

Nezha slightly furrowed his brow, pondering for a moment.

"I also added some Daughter Wine from the West Liang Woman Country."

"Daughter Wine?"

Lord Lao Zi appeared contemplative: "Perhaps that's it."

He seemed to have realized something, bowed to Sun Wukong, and quickly left in haste.

The other Immortals also excused themselves one by one, congratulating Nezha as they departed.

Nezha was extremely happy.

Not long after, Lord Lao Zi indeed discovered the method to refine divine dew.

It turned out that a special Spiritual Energy in the waters of the Mother and Child River reacted with the divine dew, solidifying through rapid heating which made it less volatile.

Once solidified, the divine dew could become a raw material, to be combined with other substances.

News spread, the Three Realms trembled.

All beings were immersed in joy.

"We have finally found a way to resist the great calamity!"

"Nezha is too amazing!"

Across the Four Great Continents, everyone was discussing one name.

"That Nezha, he is truly incredible!"

"Who exactly is he?"

"They say he is the Crown Prince born to Heavenly King Li and a lotus root."

"The Lotus Root Immortal!"

"The Lotus Root Immortal! So it's him!"

Nezha's name quickly reverberated through the heavens.

He instantly became a person known to all.

Walking down the street, an endless stream of people expressed their gratitude and admiration.

Nezha was grinning so wide he could hardly close his mouth!

For a good while, he felt as if he was flying when he walked.

"I've finally become famous!"

Nezha felt even if he died now, it would have been worth it!
