The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 51: Let It Out

The excavation of the Immortal City continued, and the Kua Fu clan uncovered the ruins of a library.

Sun Wukong, Immortal Zhenyuan, Emperor Shouma, and the Moon Immortal, along with some famed and named Mountain Gods of the ruins, all came to the site.

This commotion caught the attention of other creatures.

"What's happened?"

A Fox Demon asked, "Why have all the big shots arrived?"

"It's said that the Heavenly Emperor personally ordered the excavation of this library."

A member of the Human Clan responded, "A treasure can be placed here."

"Treasure?"

The Fox Demon looked curiously towards the center of the crowd.

In the center of the crowd, Immortal Zhenyuan examined the ruins.

He discovered some interlaced patterns on the surface of the ruins, covered by broken stones and dirt.

"Brother, could you blow on it for me?"

Wishing to see more clearly, Immortal Zhenyuan thought of Wukong's spell.

Sun Wukong blew a breath, and suddenly the wind howled, sweeping broken walls, stones, and dirt to one side, revealing the complex Dao patterns on the ground.

The surrounding creatures were amazed at the terrifying power of his casual breath and exclaimed in admiration.

Immortal Zhenyuan bent down to inspect those complex Dao patterns.

These patterns seemed to span the entire ruins, forming a tree shape. Although damaged, the overall structure was still preserved.

"This is most likely the Spiritual Network of this world."

Immortal Zhenyuan said.

Sun Wukong nodded when suddenly an old man emerged from underneath the ground.

"Your Majesty, we have found an altar underground."

The old man knelt before Sun Wukong.

"Good."

Sun Wukong cast a spell and followed the old man underground.

Beneath the ground, an altar stood silently, surrounded by tree-root-like Dao patterns.

Sun Wukong approached the altar and saw a small groove inside.

"This is it."

Sun Wukong took out a bamboo slip from his bosom and placed it into the groove, which fit perfectly in size and shape.

After the bamboo slip was placed into the groove, the altar began to rotate, and the ground shook violently.

"Your Majesty."

The old man exclaimed in shock, "We should go back up first."

"Uh-huh."

Sun Wukong turned to return to the surface but saw a beam of light flowing out of the altar, along the patterns, passing by him.

Back on the surface, Sun Wukong saw that all the Dao patterns on the ground had lit up, and the ruins were rumbling.

The lit Dao patterns gradually took the shape of a tree.

Then, the broken walls and stones that Sun Wukong had swept to one side flew back, assembling in mid-air.

"Is this the power of Dao patterns?"

The Moon Immortal asked in amazement.

Immortal Zhenyuan's eyes brightened, "These Dao patterns are interesting."

The piled-up stones were reconstructing the library, but there were not enough of them, leaving many walls with holes.

The light from the Dao patterns flew out of the ground, filling those holes.

Under everyone's astonished gaze, the light became walls, reconstructing the library flawlessly.

"Creating something out of nothing."

A light flashed in Sun Wukong's eyes; the Dao patterns of this city had the power to create something out of nothing.

Even Wanling City did not possess such power; in this city, the power of the Jade Seal had already fused with the land.

The library was rebuilt.

However, just as everyone thought it was over, a breeze of Immortal Wind suddenly appeared inside the library.

After the Immortal Wind passed, rows of bookshelves appeared, and books restored themselves, floating above the shelves, arranged neatly.

Everyone was stunned.

"How was this achieved?"

Immortal Zhenyuan was speechless with astonishment.

This Immortal City actually still has a library.

Sun Wukong was also very surprised.

No wonder the Heavenly Emperor wanted to split the power of the Jade Seal, with such a design, as long as the Immortal City is repaired, it would be possible to recover everything from the past.

Many Shouma people, upon witnessing this scene, were so excited they knelt on the ground and began to worship.

"Eminent younger brother,"

Immortal Zhenyuan, looking at those kneeling Shouma people, said, "The books here will be useful to the Three Realms as well."

"Mm."

Sun Wukong nodded.

Immortal Zhenyuan then glanced at the library's spell patterns and asked, "With the Unchanging Spell Patterns, could I make some changes to this library?"

Sun Wukong gave him a look: "As you wish."

Immortal Zhenyuan happily started to contemplate.

Sun Wukong then turned around and said to the Emperor, "Your ancestors have made preparations for rebuilding the Immortal City; surely there should be more than this bamboo slip."

The Emperor indeed thought so and decided to send people out again to search for more treasures.

Sun Wukong in the Immortal City set down Heavenly Rules which might be used in the future, taking the opportunity to read books in the library, learning knowledge that has long been lost.

Perhaps by finishing all the books in the library, he could recover the power of the Jade Seal without using those magical treasures.

Of course, this would be the best outcome.

Sun Wukong flipped through the books for several days but did not find the expected method.

However, he came to understand another path of power that this world has taken.

"So the Jade Seal originally had such uses."

He gained a deeper understanding of the Jade Seal.

All this time, Sun Wukong had been using the Jade Seal to bestow Immortal Positions on the Immortals.

But the books here told him that he could also infuse objects with Immortal Positions.

Imparting power to Magical Treasures was something Sun Wukong was well aware of.

But the books here spoke of not just the creation of Magical Treasures, but also the combination of Immortal Law with the world—taken to the extreme, it could even create something out of nothing, forging an entire world.

This world in itself would possess Immortal Positions.

"Who exactly taught them such techniques?"

Sun Wukong closed a book, unable to suppress his doubts.

The techniques recorded here did not seem to be something the Immortals of this world could have developed.

He was getting a bit tired from reading, so he walked over to the window, gazing at the bustling reconstruction of ruins by various creatures outside.

In addition to the various races, there were also some giant Demon Beasts helping out.

Sun Wukong watched them, lost in thought.

"You really are suspecting them."

After a moment, a voice sounded behind him: "Eminent younger brother, do you not trust those Demon Beasts?"

Immortal Zhenyuan came over.

"They bear no malice, but I sensed the presence of Buddha Beads on them."

Sun Wukong turned around and replied, "I've gathered them together, hoping that it would provoke the Buddha Beads to show themselves, but it seems not to plan to appear even after so long."

Immortal Zhenyuan walked up to his side, taking a glance at the Demon Beasts outside.

"Eminent younger brother, do you not believe that the Buddha Beads are dead?"

He asked.

Sun Wukong laughed: "Do you?"

"I don't."

Immortal Zhenyuan shook his head.

The Buddha Beads were such a troublesome opponent; to say they were destroyed, he also didn't quite believe it in his heart.

"So..."

Sun Wukong said, "We need to find a way to draw it out."

The reasons why the sun of the Northern Wilderness disappeared remained unclear.

There were also the matters of the Demon Beast King which brought him many mysteries.

Sun Wukong believed that all the riddles revolved around those Buddha Beads.

He did not believe they had truly vanished.

"Immortal, now is not the time to relax."

Accidents could happen at any time.
