Legendary Necromancer: My First Summon is the Undead Dragon

Chapter 79: Divinity

Jake spent the night beside Ophelia, watching her, not catching a wink of sleep. And when the day finally broke, her eyes flickered open. She let out a yawn and stretched her arms out like she had just woken up from a good long nap.

Jake's eyes flashed with happiness when he saw her wake up, all his fears drained away in seconds. He looked at her, his mind finally at peace.

Ophelia turned to look at Jake. She saw the soft gaze and smile and immediately became confused. What she remembered last was them fighting Minotaurs, and now she was on her bed.

"Jake? What happened?" she asked.

"You don't remember?" Jake asked.

"I remember you and Crypt fighting a Minotaur, and that's all," she said. Jake was about to tell her that nothing happened, but right the next moment, she grabbed her head, fell back to the bed, and began screaming and groaning in pain.

Jake was confused as to what was happening. He looked at her, confusion in his eyes. He grabbed her and tried to calm her down, but somehow, the strength her little body was manifesting at this moment was more than he expected.

A minute of confusion went by, and Jake decided that he would look for help, but then she stopped, her raging breathing calmed down. The bed beneath her was soaked in sweat.

He stared at her, still not sure what to do right now. Her eyes opened again for the second time, but only this time, one of her eyes was gold.

Jake paused when he saw that. He also felt a strange energy coming from her body as she lay there. She turned and looked at Jake.

"I saw something," she muttered.

"You saw something? What?" he asked.

"I don't know what it is, but I saw someone like me. She was older, beautiful," Ophelia said, her gaze shifted to the ceiling. "But she was captured and suffered for freedom until her death."

Jake was stunned by the words she spoke. He didn't know how to react to it or what to say to it, so he decided to listen more.

"Was that all you saw?" he asked.

"No, I saw something in the distance. I couldn't make it clear, but it was a dragon locked in battle against never-ending forces of enemies.

It looked as if he was coming her way to save her, but no matter how much the dragon fought, the enemies stopped him."

Jake used his ability immediately, not because he didn't believe her, but he needed to know the authenticity of what she was saying, and every word she spoke was green.

"And you said the lady looked like you?" Jake asked.

"Yes, she did. And she told me something, but I can't remember the words anymore. It seemed important, she said it in a haste, but I can't remember anything she said," Ophelia said.

She then raised her hand. "But she gave me something and said it was mine, and that I should use it wisely." Suddenly, a ball of golden light appeared on Ophelia's palm, spinning in all directions.

Jake was stunned to see it, but the person who was far more stunned to see it was none other than the system itself.

[That's divine energy.]

"Divine energy? What's that?" Jake asked.

[A power unique to divine beings or beings with divine energy within them. The power to create and to destroy, that's all I know about it.]

'Divine energy, divine beings... does that mean Ophelia has the blood of a divine being?' Jake thought. He looked at Ophelia and decided to ask a question.

"Ophelia, tell me what you know about your parents," Jake said.

Immediately the topic was brought up, her expression became downcast, but she immediately started speaking. "I don't remember much anymore, but my parents were the best. That's the best description to fit them," she said. A small smile crept up on her face as she spoke.

"And did they have white hair like you?" he asked. She paused after he asked that before she responded. "No, none of them did," she said.

'That means she was probably adopted, so it's possible that she came from divinity or something,' Jake thought.

[I believe that blast back with the Minotaur forcefully unlocked what was sealed inside her somehow.]

"That's the only thing that makes sense," Jake replied. He looked at her—she was a walking mystery that had found her way to him.

"Ophelia, take a rest. I'll make you something to eat. Your body went through a lot because of my mistake, so just relax," Jake said.

She didn't understand what he meant by "because of him," but she nodded and lay back down.

Jake walked out of the room and closed the door, leaving Crypt there to watch her.

'Divinity... I knew something was special about Ophelia since the day she hugged me, but I didn't think it would be something like this.

I'll have to gather more information concerning her, but that's not something to worry about for now. The trials are still on us.'

He made it into the kitchen and made some breakfast, and after they ate together in her room, Jake made his way to his room. He cleaned up and sat on his bed, and before he knew it, he had drifted off into sleep.

But then, the cold and horrendous voice of the Whisper reached his ears.

{Kekekekekeke, sleeping during a trial? That's bold.}

Jake kept up from his sleep, his eyes darting around, and then he saw the Whisper. He immediately got on guard.

"You said three days," Jake said.

{Kekekeke, plans changed. Those above believe that the second trial was far too easy for a Golden Jubilee, and as such, there have been many changes made, kekekekekeke.}

"What do you mean, changes? That's not fair, you didn't keep your word," Jake said.

{My words are but a repeat of those above, and I'll say what they tell me, and you'll do what they tell you without question,} the Whisper said, its tone very cold.
