Death… And Me

Chapter 3741: Why Indeed!

Chapter 3741: Why Indeed!

Rean was brought out of the floating land, using the same cloak as before. He didn’t mind, and actually felt like it wasn’t that necessary since Ploto mentioned the Shifter Formation wasn’t too far from there. Of course, he didn’t complain either.

"Keep that on," Wergal warned.

Rean smiled, nodding and following Wergal. Soon, he could tell they reached an ocean just by the smell. It was just like Ploto mentioned, the Shifter Formation wasn’t that far. Perhaps the Shifter and the Floating Land had some connection due to the energies of the natural formation, too.

At some point, Rean hit the water and went further down. The light of the surface slowly disappeared, and the darkness of the depths took over. Water pressure increased, but not something that could bother Rean with the level of both his body and cultivation.

They didn’t stop for several days, but no spatial gates or teleports were used at all. Rean still wasn’t sure where they were going, but he kept an open mind. He tried to strike up a conversation with Wergal several times, but the man was quite boring. ’Kentucky would probably be going crazy already if he had to follow this guy alone,’ Rean thought.

The darkness of the bottom of the ocean then began to change. Rean couldn’t see much with his cloak interfering with his Divine Sense, but he could at least see the light, even though the cloak interfered with his sight as well after a few meters.

*Pin!*

[Abyssal Path Detected.]

Sure enough, the system activated, detecting the presence of the Abyssal Path in the distance. "Are we there?" Rean asked, pretending to not be sure.

Wergal brought him to the bottom, landing on the heavily worn-out and broken Great Void Shifter Formation. "We are here."

Rean smiled, and was just about to take his cloak out when suddenly...

*Swish!*

*Clang!*

A claw came out from space, powerful laws of water and water element covering it. Yet, it didn’t hit Rean. Instead, it was deflected by a Sword, sparking with Red lightning. No, that was an Element Intent Sword, Rean’s Sword. "Meh... and here I hoped it was all just a misunderstanding."

Wergal narrowed his eyes. He told Rean to keep the cloak so as to prevent him from noticing the attack. He even brought Rean to the real formation to make sure Rean would drop his guard.

*Rumble!*

Then, a whirlpool formed right where Rean was, the strength of the water element and the laws increasing several times. Whoever attacked him earlier now took it serious. Still, Rean just threw the cloak away, which allowed his Divine Sense to work normally. "Wow! That’s quite the entourage!"

Rean could see twelve Black Cetuses, all of them in the Divinity Realm, with Wergal as the strongest in the Peak Stage. "Finish him."

Rean tried to get away, but the center of the whirlpool suddenly burst with all that water element and laws, and a subaquatic explosion followed.

*Boom!*

With that, Rean disappeared from everyone’s Divine Senses.

Wergal shielded himself against the energies of the explosion, sighing. "Why did Vavalia-Hek want him dead so much?"

The other Black Cetuses nodded. They also felt weird when Wergal contacted them and passed his orders. They were told to make sure Rean and Roan would die while she would think of a way to keep Kentucky behind. Since Roan was inside Rean’s Dimensional Realm, Rean’s death would mean Roan’s as well. In the end, Ratria didn’t need to do anything to keep Kentucky as Kentucky stayed behind of his own volition. Nonetheless, it made no sense to ask for such a huge entourage just to deal with a simple Middle Stage Space-Time Realm Expert.

"I’m also curious," it was then that Rean’s voice echoed from a few hundred meters away, taking the twelve Black Cetuses by surprise! "Why would Vavalia-Hek want us dead? We saved Kentucky, you know? Oh, right! It’s probably Kentucky."

"Impossible!" Wergal and the others looked at Rean as if they were looking at a ghost.

Rean played with his Sword, feeling quite entertained. "Of course it is not! You see, when the explosion happened, it affected both space and the laws in the surroundings. It wasn’t that hard to use it as a cover to take some distance from you. I just had to make sure to move at the right moment so your Divine Senses wouldn’t detect my concealing skill."

That was a lie. The plan started as soon as they came out of the Floating Land. Truth be told, Celis had never gone to the Floating Land in the first place. The twins had him come out of the Dimensional Realm at some point after they stopped teleporting everywhere. You truly couldn’t look down on the One Light Year Range of the Celestial Soul System’s abilities.

After Rean was brought away from the Floating Land, Celis followed far behind, and Roan was with him. Roan made sure to use Rean’s Light and Divine Sense Bending so they wouldn’t be detected. Well, they were so far that he probably didn’t even need that.

When the explosion took place, Rean simply entered the Dimensional Realm and left it by Celis’s side. Then he ran back to where Wergal and the other Black Cetuses were, just in time for the chaos of the explosion to settle down and hear Wergal’s words.

Wergal gritted his teeth and ordered everyone, this time with Divine Sense.

All the Black Cetuses moved, surrounding Rean again. However, they didn’t attack. Something didn’t feel right. If he had escaped that easily, why would he not flee? Rean purposely appeared again and didn’t even try to ambush them.

"Oh? Are you going to try it again? I’m sure you guys have heavier cards to play." Another Elemental Intent Sword appeared when Rean finished his words. "Just a warning. You don’t want to do this."

Wergal’s instincts still screamed at him, saying this situation just wasn’t right. Then, he noticed something. If Rean escaped earlier and they didn’t even see when he did, couldn’t he have brought Roan out of his Pocket Dimensional Realm? "Careful!"

"Sure enough, experience is valuable," Roan’s words echoed under water with his Divine Energy, and he appeared right behind Wergal.

’Death World Domain!’

’Red Life, Enhancement!’

’Red Death, Death Cross!’

Wergal immediately turned around, his claws crossing in front of him as his Divine Energy, Water Element, and Laws gathered to fend off Roan. So what if Roan took him by surprise? His cultivation was much higher! He would hold down Roan’s attack, and the other Black Cetuses would finish him and Rean off!

*Swish, swish!*

Too bad that all of Wergal’s preparation was meaningless. He truly had no idea just how powerful an Elemental Intent Scythe with all of Roan’s perks was, let alone two! In that one attack, Wergal’s Claws were cut cleanly through, and only death awaited!
