Chapter 3945: Ximao’s Bet
None of the Divinity Realm experts protecting the academy noticed when that Spirit appeared. The Spirit passed through the formations of the academy, going straight to Ximao’s office. It was as if it were invisible, even though it wasn’t.
Suddenly, Ximao looked at the entrance of his office, and to his surprise, the spirit was already there, floating in front of him. He quickly got up and was about to say something when he noticed. "Balance Adjudicator..."
The Spirit’s shape changed, assuming the form of an aluring woman wearing a red dress. Why a woman? Who knows? Spirits don’t really have genders, but that’s what this one selected. "You must be the Observer called Ximao, am I correct?"
Ximao came to the front and bowed respectfully to the woman. "That would be me indeed, Senior Caladara. I received the message that you would come to check the Judgemental Eye after the warning was sent last time."
"Yes, I already took a look at it," Caladara confirmed. "You know, this is weird. The Judgemental Eye shouldn’t be easily broken like that. It is almost as if someone purposely broke it, someone who knew how it worked at least a little bit. Now then, would you know something about that, Ximao?"
Ximao bitterly smiled, knowing that lying would be worse. "Yes, senior. It was I who broke the Judgemental Eye."
The atmosphere got tense, and Ximao felt like his own soul was about to be pulled out of his body. He had to give his all just to stay conscious. Of course, he also knew the truth. If Caladara wanted to pull his soul for real, he would have no chance of fighting back like he is doing now.
"You did, uh? You see, it took over fifty years to come down here, and I wasn’t told anything about you breaking the Judgemental Eye." Caladara’s mood was terrible. "That’s something that should have been reported by you. Now, give me a very good reason not to extinguish your existence here and now and get someone else to take your place."
Ximao sweated nonstop, but he tried to keep his calm, speaking. "As per the rules, those who have the Judgemental Eye only know about the five levels of Golden Radiance. However, we both know there is a level six, which looks exactly the same as the level five for those who don’t know about it."
"Stop beating around the bush. So what if there is a level six? Did one appear? Then the eye’s Judgement Protocol must have killed him already," Caladara said.
"It did not. After all, I broke the eye before it executed the Judgement Protocol," Ximao explained. "Well, it eventually executed the Protocol Once, but the Golden Echo was flawed, and ended up being destroyed due ot its limitations. As for why I stopped it, it was because there wasn’t just one Level Six, but four of them."
"What?!" Caladara was taken aback. The shock she felt when hearing Ximao’s words was so big that she even stopped pressing him with her power. "Impossible! Do you have any idea how unlikely it is for a Level Six to appear? Even if you put together all Rank A Universes, you wouldn’t find more than one or two every million years! Are you telling me four of them appeared at once, in the same place, found by the same Judgemental Eye? Ridiculous!"
"I believe so, too!" Ximao quickly added. Things finally began to go his way. He had a long time to prepare for it, after all. "That’s why I had to stop it. Something must be wrong with this Judgemental Eye, so I couldn’t let it kill the targets. However, even though I have some idea of how the Eye works, I don’t have the knowledge to fix it, let alone know whether it is truly working as it should. Of course, the auto repair kicked off, but I kept preventing it from working properly, waiting for you to arrive, Senior Caladara."
Following that, Ximao opened his CD and replayed the day when the twins’ group joined the Divine Military Exchange program. "Here, take a look, senior."
Caladara watched the record play, and sure enough, she easily recognized the Level Six Golden Radiance Measurement. It wasn’t the Celestial Ascendance Radiance, but a sixth level called Balance Breaker.
"Four Balance Breakers..." Caladara watched the video time and time again. Finally, she had to admit, Ximao wasn’t wrong. It truly considered Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis to be all at Level Six. "Alright, I understand why you had to stop it. If you didn’t, it might have started to pass the wrong Judgement to all the others who came next. However, how come this was not reported in your message? How come I’m only hearing about this now?"
Ximao scratched the back of his head, finding it hard to speak. "It’s just... what if the Judgemental Eye wasn’t wrong? If I reported it had a problem while it actually didn’t... I was afraid of the punishment, especially since no one would be sent down to fix it in that case."
Caladara’s expression got worse again. "I should have just killed you when I arrived... but I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same thing as you. You are lucky I’m a reasonable Balance Adjudicator. In any case, I need to check them myself. Where are these four brats the eye found?"
"As I didn’t know how many years it would take for you to arrive, I let them roam free. But don’t worry, I will contact them and order them to go back to the academy immediately. They should all be here by the end of the day at most," Ximao said.
"Good!" Caladara didn’t mind waiting that long. "Meanwhile, I’ll fix the Judgemental Eye. Don’t worry, I won’t let it activate the Judgemental Protocol on those four since I’m already here. Go ahead and call them all."
Without waiting, Caladara disappeared right in front of Ximao, and he couldn’t even tell how she did it. ’That was scary... But I already bet on this, so no turning back now.’
And so, he took out his CD and found the twins’ group’s numbers. It was time to call them over.
