Death… And Me

Chapter 4462: Fluffy

Chapter 4462: Fluffy

"What is it?" Arcis asked after noticing Rean’s expression change.

"Hum..." Rean pondered for a moment before taking another piece of meat from his Spatial Ring. He waved it gently in front of the airplane. "Here, girl. This is for you."

*Rawr!*

The two-tailed white fox immediately shot out from the landing gear compartment and leaped onto Rean’s shoulder. She snatched the piece of meat in one bite, swallowing it almost instantly. Satisfied, she then curled herself comfortably on his shoulder as if she had always belonged there.

A moment later...

She was already asleep.

Arcis stared blankly at the little white fox. Just like Rean before, he couldn’t feel the slightest trace of Godly Pressure from her. Unlike Celis, he couldn’t even detect that tiny amount of Godly Pressure hidden within her body. All he could perceive was a faint amount of Celestial Energy, making her appear no different from any ordinary animal living in the Celestial Plane.

"What is it?" Arcis asked again, completely puzzled. "Your pet?"

Rean scratched the back of his head before gently lifting the sleeping fox from his shoulder, cradling her in his arms like a baby so she wouldn’t fall.

"I think..." he said with an awkward smile, "...this is the so-called ’powerful’ Godly Creature you were talking about."

Arcis thought Rean was joking.

"Stop messing around. This is obviously just a normal ani—"

His voice abruptly stopped.

At that exact moment, another report arrived through his RC. The people monitoring the Sacred Relic had been continuously updating the target’s location, and according to the latest report...

The Godly Creature had just moved.

Its position now perfectly overlapped with Rean’s.

"What?!" Arcis couldn’t help but blurt out. "This... this is the Godly Creature the Sacred Relic detected?"

His gaze immediately returned to the little fox. He inspected her over and over again with his Celestial and Godly Senses. No matter how many times he checked, the result remained exactly the same.

She was just an ordinary little animal.

"What in the world is happening here?"

Roan walked over and finally paid proper attention to the fox sleeping in Rean’s arms.

"So it hid inside the landing gear compartment..." he muttered before glancing at Rean. "Sure enough, this is the idiot’s fault."

Rean’s mouth twitched. "I did not put her there!"

"You were the one who fed her," Celis reminded him.

"You were the one who kept playing with her," Kentucky added with a grin.

"You were also the one who let her stay around the airplane," Lukay joined in.

Rean immediately raised both hands in surrender. "Fine! I did all of that! But I never expected her to hide inside the airplane. I saw her leave, and she never came back afterward. I don’t even know when she sneaked into the landing gear compartment!"

As he complained, Rean suddenly looked down at the fox again. "Hum?"

His expression became thoughtful. "How come I never noticed your approach?"

Using his Godly Sense, Rean could clearly perceive the fox now. She was standing out just like everything else around him. During the entire trip back to Besgol, however, he had used his Godly Sense countless times while scanning the surroundings, yet he had never sensed her anywhere nearby.

It was almost as if...

She had been completely invisible to his senses until just now.

*Tud!*

Before Rean could think any further, another figure landed nearby.

Tobao had arrived.

Naturally, Arcis had already informed him of everything.

"So..." Tobao looked between Rean and the fox. "Is this the thing?"

Rean pushed those thoughts aside for the moment and nodded. "Seems like it. Still, she definitely isn’t a powerful Godly Creature. Honestly, she doesn’t even possess a tenth of the strength of an ordinary Godly Spawn, let alone something capable of alarming the Sacred Relic. She isn’t even a Godly Creature to begin with."

The scene that followed was quite bizarre.

The four Law Gods of Besgol silently surrounded Rean, all of them staring intently at the tiny sleeping fox in his arms.

"Perhaps we should kill it?" Kavile suggested.

"Amithaba..." Tobao shook his head. "That would be far too cruel, friend Kavile."

"We simply don’t know what kind of danger it poses," Aurundi expressed his concern.

"Its reserves of Celestial Energy are so pitiful that even a child who just started cultivating could defeat her," Arcis added after another careful inspection.

Roan, however, was thinking about something else. "I’m more interested in why the Sacred Relic sees her as a powerful Godly Creature. Still, one thing is absolutely certain." He looked directly at Tobao. "She is not a Godly Creature."

"And how can you be so sure?" Tobao asked.

"We’re inside the Sacred Relic’s influence," Roan explained calmly. "Every Godly Creature is suppressed here to some degree. More importantly, have any of you ever seen a Godly Creature sleeping peacefully in someone’s arms like a baby?"

The four Law Gods looked at each other.

None of them had.

Roan continued. "Godly Creatures attack cultivators on sight unless they instinctively realize they’ll die if they try. Or they try and realize they will die and decide to run away. Even then, they remain extremely wary. Besides, the Sacred Relic’s influence constantly makes them uncomfortable while they’re inside its range. It keeps them on edge."

He looked toward the little fox. "Does she look uncomfortable to any of you?"

Tobao and the others had to admit it.

The fox went against everything they knew about Godly Creatures.

"Fine," Kavile finally conceded. "Even so, we need to examine her carefully and determine why the Sacred Relic reacted like this. It wouldn’t raise such an alarm without a reason."

Tobao nodded in agreement. "I can agree with that much. Judging by the Sacred Relic’s reaction, we originally believed a Godly Creature beyond the Godly Horror level had appeared. We even considered the possibility of a Godly Apex or Tyrant."

Everyone looked at the sleeping fox once again.

No matter how they looked...

Nothing about her matched that description.

"Alright." Rean nodded. "The easiest solution is to take her to the Arrays Guild. They should be able to examine her much more thoroughly."

"I’m coming with you," Tobao said immediately. "There are also quite a few things I’d like to ask your group."

Kavile still looked unconvinced. "Shouldn’t all of us remain together just in case?"

"We’ll be fine," Tobao assured him. "We’ll teleport directly to Noso Country, close to the center of the Besgol Region. The Sacred Relic’s influence is much stronger there. If she truly is some hidden Godly Creature, she’ll be suppressed even more."

Kavile, Arcis, and Aurundi could only nod. "Very well. Inform us as soon as you discover anything."

With that, the state of alert throughout the Besgol Region was finally lifted.

Even so, Tobao never relaxed for a single moment. His eyes remained fixed on the little fox sleeping peacefully in Rean’s arms, carefully watching for even the slightest unusual movement.

The fox, however, couldn’t have cared less.

She simply let out a tiny yawn, adjusted her sleeping position, and continued sleeping as soundly as before.

Rean then boarded the airplane with the others, and they flew toward the nearest Teleport Formation. From there, they immediately teleported to Noso Country. As for the teleportation fee...

Tobao didn’t care in the slightest.

Compared to the mystery of that tiny fox, the cost was completely insignificant.
