Death… And Me

Chapter 4467: Where Did You Come From?

Chapter 4467: Where Did You Come From?

The twins’ group went back to the Godly Subjugation Guild in Jufafner Country, where their residence was located. During the entire trip, the fox didn’t wake up, and it didn’t seem like it would anytime soon. Since there was nothing they could do about it, they immediately entered cultivation after collecting their reward.

There were no Godly Predator Crystals in the reward, but there were quite a few Godly Beast ones. One couldn’t forget that Godly Predators were incredibly difficult to kill, after all. Just obtaining the crystals they already had was considered a tremendous harvest by the standards of the Besgol Region.

It didn’t take long for the newly charted areas of the Godly Creatures Territories to be added to the Besgol Database, which everyone had access to. It drew a little bit of attention for a while, but nothing too significant.

After all, no one was willing to risk traveling that far into the territories, and the names of those who explored the new areas were never released either. In the end, it simply became another topic people talked about for a few days before moving on.

The twins’ group took their Godly Predator Crystals out and began cultivating, a session that lasted for only two days. Not that they had used everything, of course. To absorb all the Godly Crystals and pearls they had accumulated would definitely take another half a year at the very least. The reason they stopped after only two days was simple.

The fox had finally woken up.

So, while Roan and Kentucky stayed behind to continue cultivating, Rean and Celis boarded the airplane and left the Besgol Region for a quick mission in the surrounding areas. Naturally, the mission itself was only an excuse. Celis’s real objective was to observe the fox outside the Besgol Region and confirm the suspicions he had developed after seeing her absorb the Godly Predator Crystal. It had to be outside the Sacred Relic’s Influence.

Once they were far enough away, Celis finally nodded in satisfaction. "Sure enough, she can generate Godly Energy on her own, just like normal Godly Creatures."

Rean couldn’t help but feel surprised. "But she obviously isn’t a Godly Creature."

"Well, perhaps we aren’t the only ones capable of producing it," Celis commented. "In any case, what I can tell for sure is that she is naturally creating Godly Energy, and it is being stored inside her eyes. A good portion of it, however, is immediately consumed by her bloodline. She is getting stronger as a whole. Compared to eating a Godly Predator Crystal, though, at her current speed, she would need at least two years to generate the same amount of Godly Energy."

Rean shrugged after hearing that. "We aren’t much faster either. We cultivated for quite a while during the Elite Exploration Mission, but after those six months outside, we probably didn’t accumulate more than one or two Godly Predator Crystals’ worth of Godly Energy. This ability to create Godly Energy on our own is much more useful during prolonged battles than for cultivation."

*Rawr!*

The fox looked at Rean with sparkling eyes, seemingly waiting for something.

Rean smiled before taking out another piece of meat and tossing it to her. "I guess you are quite hungry after sleeping for so long."

Yet, the piece of meat simply landed on the ground. The fox lowered her head to sniff it for a brief moment before immediately losing interest. She didn’t even bother taking a bite. Instead, she looked back at Rean with what was unmistakably an angry expression.

*Rawr, rawr!*

"Hum?" Rean blinked in confusion. "Didn’t you love it before?"

*Rawr!*

Without any warning, she suddenly dashed toward Celis. Only then did they understand what she was actually after. She wasn’t interested in the meat at all. Her target was the Spatial Storage accessory Celis was wearing, which also happened to contain all the Godly Predator Crystals.

"Ha! Keep dreaming!"

Celis reacted instantly. His roots shot out and wrapped around the fox’s two tails before she could get any closer, lifting her into the air and pulling her away from the Spatial Storage.

"We fought very hard for these things!" Celis complained. "There is no way I’m letting you eat them like candy!"

The fox immediately turned her pitiful gaze toward Rean instead, her beautiful eyes practically begging him to help.

Rean could only bitterly smile. In the end, he accessed his Spatial Ring and took out a Godly Crystal. However, this wasn’t a Godly Predator Crystal. It was only a Godly Beast Crystal.

"Here you go."

*Rawr!*

*Crunch!*

She instantly bit into the crystal and swallowed it without a second thought. The moment it disappeared into her mouth, the Godly Energy stored inside spread rapidly through her body. Just as Celis had predicted, a large portion of that energy was immediately consumed by her bloodline, strengthening it little by little. The remaining Godly Energy then flowed toward her Golden Eye and Red Eye, where it was quietly stored away.

The entire process only lasted a few seconds.

Soon enough, the fox was already staring at Rean again.

*Rawr!*

She wanted another one!

Rean could only shake his head helplessly. "They are hard to get. I can’t simply feed you Godly Beast Crystals, you know? Can you imagine how much the Anchor Gods of Besgol would cry if they saw you eating these crystals like ordinary snacks?"

The fox lowered her ears and looked genuinely disappointed, making it look as if the greatest injustice in the world had just happened to her.

*Clin!*

Rean turned toward the cockpit after hearing the sound coming from the airplane’s controls.

"Oh, we are here."

The airplane slowly descended before landing near a rather large lake inhabited by a species of Godly Fish Creature. The quick mission they had accepted as an excuse to bring the fox outside was related to those very fish.

Almost the entire population consisted of Godly Spawn Fish, with only two or three Godly Beast ones mixed among them. Even so, they were notoriously troublesome to deal with because they were aquatic creatures.

These fish were only worth hunting for Anchor Gods and perhaps some weaker Aura God cultivators. Unfortunately, there were plenty of much better Godly Spawn creatures to hunt on land, so very few cultivators were interested in this mission. Most of those who accepted it belonged to aquatic races themselves, and there weren’t many of those in the Besgol Region.

Celis, however, clearly didn’t care about any of that.

He immediately transformed back into his World Swallowing Cedar form. Countless vines shot down from above like a rain of spears, piercing through the lake’s surface one after another. The Godly Spawn Fish were struck almost instantly, the vines moving far too quickly for them to evade.

Naturally, the fish didn’t simply sit there and wait to die. Those still alive rushed toward Celis’s vines from every direction, both beneath the water and near the surface, trying to bite them apart. Celis was a cultivator, after all, and the instinct of Godly Creatures compelled them to attack him.

Rean simply watched everything from inside the airplane. There wasn’t much reason for him to interfere. Against nothing but a group of Godly Spawn Fish and a single Godly Beast, Celis could easily complete the mission by himself.

However, just as the battle seemed completely under control, one of the rare Godly Beast Fish suddenly leaped high out of the water, opening its enormous mouth as it charged straight toward Celis.

Celis wasn’t concerned in the slightest. Thanks to his innate ability to sense and control energies, he had noticed the Godly Beast long ago and had already prepared his vines to kill it the moment it attacked.

Yet, before his vines could even move, a certain two-tailed fox suddenly appeared right in front of him.

"Uh?! Where the hell did you come from?!"

Even Rean was completely taken aback. He hadn’t noticed the fox move at all.

*Rawr!*

Using Celis’s massive trunk as a stepping stone, the fox kicked off with all her strength. Her Red Eye and Golden Eye immediately shone with dazzling crimson and golden light before her entire coat transformed into the same magnificent red-gold color.

*Zuash!*

Intense flames erupted around her body, wrapping her in a blazing cloak of fire as she shot toward the Godly Beast Fish without showing the slightest hint of hesitation. She crashed into it head-on with all the momentum she had built. And then...

*Bang!*

The fox...

Lost miserably!
