Chapter 4508: North or Center?
Thery wasn’t sure if this person was a legitimate member of his Thousand-Script Race. Still, those runes were definitely not much different from his own, and the purity they displayed was difficult to mistake. He studied the woman for a moment before finally asking, "And you are?"
"Oh, right. My name is Fornetia. Sorry for interrupting you so suddenly," said the woman.
"That’s okay," Thery nodded. "May I inquire why you have called our attention?"
"Yes. You and these two friends seem to have the same bloodline as mine, which caught my attention," Fornetia explained.
Thery didn’t show any changes on his face. "The three of us? That’s not something that rare. Just today, I probably passed by at least twenty or so experts who also have the same type of runes on their bodies, just like us."
"That’s not it." Fornetia shook her head. "It’s more about the fact that your runes are as vivid as mine, which shows just how pure your bloodline is. In fact, it is the same for all three of you. I even feel like yours is slightly better than mine."
"So that’s the case, uh?" Thery nodded slowly. "Yes, it does seem like my group’s bloodline is a lot closer to our ancestors, if we can say that. I’ve just recently arrived at the western section. Could it be that those with pure bloodlines like ours are rare here?"
"That they are," Fornetia confirmed. "That made me wonder if you are part of the Thousand-Script Sect of the North or maybe part of the Thousand-Script Faction in the Rosvelt Sect."
That was news for Thery and his companions. Of course, he wasn’t part of either, but now he knew where to go if he wanted to find out more about his race in the Woster Prison. The mention of two organizations with a connection to his race immediately made him more interested in the conversation.
"Sorry, but I am from the east, and I have never been part of either of those powers. We have been thinking about joining one of them for a while, but we haven’t decided yet."
Arcis put a hand on Thery’s shoulder, sending him a Celestial Sense Message.
’Since your race’s ascenders are locked to this part of the Celestial Plane, how about you ask her if there are Thousand-Script Race members who ascended into Woster? Maybe not all of them end up in the Natak Region Hub.’
Thery shook his head in response.
’There is no such thing. Our Thousand-Script Race back in our Great Void has tight control over those who are about to ascend. Our Natak Region would know straight away if someone ascended from our Great Void but didn’t appear in Natak.’
Arcis was surprised. ’Does that mean you can contact your Great Void? How do you do that?’
’It is something linked to our Thousand-Script Race bloodline. You won’t be able to do the same thing if that’s what you are wondering,’ Thery explained.
Arcis was disappointed to hear that. ’So that’s how it is...’
Thery’s attention returned to Fornetia. He had already obtained some useful information from her, but there was still plenty he wanted to know. "Still, why would you stop us to ask that?"
Fornetia pondered a bit before speaking. "The truth is that I’m only an Initial Stage Aura God. However, I was fortunate enough to be born with a pretty thick Thousand-Script Race Bloodline, just like you and your friends. I was hoping that you could put in a good word for me in the Thousand-Script Sect. Of course, not for free."
Haniala couldn’t help but ask, "Could it be that you can’t join that sect to the north without a very pure bloodline?"
Fornetia was taken aback. "You don’t know? Didn’t you say you were thinking about joining them?"
Haniala immediately looked away. Her question obviously exposed that their group knew pretty much nothing about this place. She realized her mistake almost immediately, but there was no way to take the words back. Of course, Fornetia wouldn’t simply think they came from outside Woster just because of that. There were plenty of reasons someone could be ignorant of certain things.
Still, it didn’t change the fact that something felt off.
Thery mentally sighed and took over before Haniala could say anything else. "Ignore her. She has always been quite the airhead. Instead, let’s change the topic. As I said, I’m pretty new to the western section. Is there something good for members of our race on this side? Things aren’t going very well on the east, so I’m hoping to accumulate some resources here before I move to the north."
Fornetia thought for a moment. She seemed to be considering what information would be most useful before finally answering.
"That depends. Our race has quite good control over the elements and energy. That makes our bloodline quite valuable to those who want a good heir. You could sell your seeds. However, the buyers will want you to be at least a Zone God. Other than that, you might want to join a Deep-Hunt group for the Predators’ Spawning Site. We are good at support, after all."
Thery, Sison, and Haniala almost lost their cool. ’No wonder we see so many of our bloodline diluted in mixed races inside this place.’
They had already noticed that the Thousand-Script Race bloodline was far more common in Woster than they had initially expected. However, until now, they hadn’t understood the reason behind it. Now, they finally had an answer.
The way Fornetia spoke about selling their seeds so casually also told them quite a lot about the situation in Woster. Apparently, their race’s bloodline had become a valuable commodity among the various forces and cultivators here.
"We... will consider the options then," Thery finally spoke again.
"Very well." Fornetia nodded. She seemed satisfied that they hadn’t outright rejected her suggestions. "Right! What cultivation do these friends have? Perhaps we can join the same group. I’m sure we could make a good amount of Godly Crystals if the four of us work together."
Arcis narrowed his eyes. "It is not nice to ignore us, you know?"
Celis didn’t seem to care about it, though. His attention had always been on the surroundings. After all, the twins’ group was there to find the other Echo, and he was hoping to notice something at some point. The conversation between Thery and Fornetia was useful, but Celis was more interested in anything that might help him locate the other Echo.
Fornetia finally looked at Arcis. "Hmph! Aren’t you with them exactly because of our advantages?"
Fornetia turned to Thery right after. "Friend Thery, there is no need to feel attached to just anyone who asks. We can definitely find a better group for a Deep-Hunt if the four of us join forces, and we can even ask for a higher payment than usual."
Arcis’s expression became slightly darker. He had been deliberately ignored for quite a while now, and although he didn’t care much about what Fornetia thought of him, her confidence was rather amusing.
Thery wasn’t someone who laughed easily, but he had to admit he found that interaction funny. If only she knew Arcis was a Law God, just what kind of face would she show?
"Ahem... The two of them are friends who came with me from the east. Maybe another time, we can join forces. We are all Aura Gods too. Is there a way I can contact you if I change my mind?"
"But of course." Fornetia quickly passed a purple stone to Thery. "This one still has three uses. Let me know if you decide to work together."
Thery accepted the stone and examined it briefly before putting it away. "Thank you. I’ll keep it in mind."
Well, he accepted the stone, but he didn’t even know how it worked yet. He was going to give it a try later.
Fornetia continued to ignore Arcis and Celis, talking for a while longer to Thery, Haniala, and Sison. She explained a few more things about the western section, including some of the places where members of their race tended to gather. None of the information was enough to answer Thery’s main questions, but it still gave them a better understanding of how the Thousand-Script Race existed within Woster.
Finally, Fornetia disappeared into the crowd once they finished talking.
—
Thery watched her leave for a moment before turning towards the north. However, his eyes soon shifted toward the direction of the central district.
"Seems like we have our first clues."
Celis nodded. "Where do you want to go? Considering the power of the Rosvelt Sect, I think you are more likely to find a clue in the Central Region instead of the Thousand-Script Sect in the northern section."
Thery thought for a moment. The information they had obtained was still too limited to make a definitive decision. The Thousand-Script Sect of the North was obviously related to his race, but the Thousand-Script Faction within the Rosvelt Sect could potentially have an even higher status.
"We don’t have enough information. It doesn’t seem like it will be easy to get into that central sect."
Arcis agreed. "Indeed. Let’s try to find out more."
They had only just begun their investigation, so there was no reason to rush into one of the two major powers. They needed to understand how those organizations operated before deciding which one would be safer to approach. After all, the fact that they were looking into the reason why the Thousand-Script Race’s ascenders were locked to this part of the Celestial Plane was something they couldn’t reveal carelessly.
*Tun!*
Suddenly, they heard something in their minds, which prompted all of them to look at their RCs.
Thery’s expression changed slightly as he recognized the signal. "Seems like Rean got it working."
Arcis immediately looked at his own RC. Sure enough, a message had arrived. "It seems we don’t need to worry about our communication range anymore."
Thery nodded. "That’s good. Considering how large Woster is, being unable to contact each other would have made things unnecessarily complicated."
