Chapter 4523: Greed
*KABOOOM!*
This time, a real blast of Godly Energy, Yin and Yang Energy, and Light and Dark Elements finally erupted!
*Arrrghhh!*
Forget about a tiny injury. Kentucky literally opened a hole in Kabriu’s back, making the guy cough up blood as his body was blasted several hundred meters upward. He only came to a stop after a moment, spreading his wings and stabilizing himself in the air. Fortunately, there was nothing but open sky around him, so he didn’t crash into anything.
Amidst the intense pain, Kabriu quickly inspected his injury. It was quite serious, but fortunately, it wasn’t anywhere near fatal. His race was truly good at defense, even if Kentucky had managed to hit one of his weakest points at the worst possible moment. Besides, we couldn’t forget that Kentucky was still being weakened by the Godly Pressure.
It was truly fortunate that Kabriu couldn’t retaliate. Were he allowed to do so, Kentucky wouldn’t have even tried this strategy. There was simply no chance of victory unless something incredible happened. Kabriu himself had created the conditions that gave Kentucky that chance, and now he could only swallow the consequences.
Kabriu’s eyes scanned the surroundings, expecting Kentucky to follow up with another attack. However, he soon found Kentucky back on the ground. The Minokawa was gasping heavily and seemed incredibly weakened, perhaps even more exhausted than Kabriu himself. "Shit..."
For a moment, Kabriu forgot what this test was about. It was all for the sake of injuring him. If he attacked Kentucky now, he could definitely give the Minokawa a severe beating, but that wasn’t something he could do. He quickly calmed himself down and reminded himself of the rules he had established before the test. What was done was done.
Too bad he soon realized he had no chance to rest.
All the cultivators who had given up earlier, along with those who were still flying, immediately began pursuing him again!
"He is injured!"
"This is our chance!"
"Don’t let that Minokawa’s efforts go to waste!"
"Fuck! I’m definitely landing a hit this time!"
Kabriu’s mouth twitched. Even though those guys had barely any time to recover, they still decided to bet everything on his weakened condition. Even worse, because of his pride, he had already burned part of his own bloodline, and it would take quite a few months to recover it. Now, the consequences were starting to pile up.
"Hmph! Even if that’s the case, you think you can catch me?! Dream on!"
Kabriu refused to believe there were any other monsters like Kentucky hidden among that group. Kentucky had been a complete anomaly, and there was no way another cultivator with such ridiculous speed and combat ability would suddenly appear.
And so, another fireworks show began in the sky.
The cultivators once again unleashed everything they had left, using their remaining Godly Energy and bloodline power to try to land an attack capable of injuring Kabriu. This time, however, there was no need to waste time testing his defenses. Everyone was aiming directly at his back, where Kentucky’s attack had already opened a breach.
That only made Kabriu even angrier.
He could barely defend himself against so many attacks coming from every direction, yet he still couldn’t retaliate because of the rules he had created himself. If he attacked even one of them, he would be breaking the conditions of his own test.
"Come on! Just a little more!"
"I almost got him!"
"Fuck! He dodged again!"
Kabriu mentally cursed as attack after attack passed by him. Some missed completely, while others struck his metallic feathers and left shallow marks. Every successful hit made his expression darker.
Yet, despite his injuries, he continued moving through the sky.
Time passed quickly.
Eventually, the one-hour test that Kabriu had created finally came to an end.
"Time’s up!"
Kabriu immediately stopped, descending toward the ground. His body was in considerably worse condition than before, and his expression was terrible.
"Hahaha! I did it!" Someone cheered nonstop.
"Fuck! I lost my chance!" someone else cursed.
"When will I ever get such a chance again..."
"Hehe! I sure made good use of mine."
Kabriu’s mouth twitched.
In the end, he was hit another seven times in the same location Kentucky had struck him. That meant another seven cultivators had successfully passed his test. Of course, it was all because of Kentucky. Without the Minokawa’s initial attack, none of them would have had any realistic chance of getting through Kabriu’s defenses. "Tch..."
Kentucky had recovered somewhat by now and approached Kabriu together with the other successful participants. Everyone waited for Kabriu to announce the results.
Kabriu glanced at Kentucky, his eyes carrying a complicated mixture of irritation and unwilling admiration. Still, he held his anger back. "Kentucky, Rosardi, Klo..."
He continued calling out the names of everyone who had managed to injure him.
"You have all passed the test."
Eight cultivators in total.
Kabriu felt helpless when he thought about it. Usually, getting even one person through his test was already quite good. This time, eight had succeeded, and seven of them had only managed to do so because Kentucky had created the opening.
"The rest of you have failed. Go back and try again another time."
A few cultivators lowered their heads in disappointment, while others were already discussing what they needed to improve before trying again.
Kabriu then turned toward Kentucky’s group. "As for you all, come with me. Let’s get the procedures going."
"Ah! Does it have to be now?" Kentucky asked, his eyes wandering elsewhere. "A friend of mine is also taking the test. I wish to wait and see the results."
Kabriu stared at him in disbelief. "Fuck that. If you don’t come now, I will not allow you to enter the sect," he cursed.
That kind of request wasn’t something the Rosvelt Sect heard very often. Who would ask to wait before being registered into the sect after finally passing one of its notoriously difficult entrance tests?
"Sigh... Fine..." Kentucky could only follow Kabriu, who felt even more annoyed when he noticed that Kentucky didn’t seem particularly interested in his own success. Such a thing was definitely a first for him.
Well, even if Kentucky had waited, it wouldn’t have been of much use. Kachia might be a Zone God and Arcis’s daughter, but she was definitely not a monster like Kentucky and the twins’ group. Above all, she was still being held back by the Godly Pressure, while the other participants were perfectly fine.
In the end, she failed.
And that was to be expected.
Of course, Kachia wasn’t particularly surprised. At least she had given it a try, and now she knew what she needed to overcome if she wanted to improve in the future. Once the test was over, she sent her mind into her RC, contacting Kentucky through the network.
’Sorry, things didn’t work out for me.’
Kentucky shook his head.
’It is fine. Wait for me outside. As soon as I finish registering here, I’ll ask them to let you enter as my follower or something like that. Neither of us intended to stay here anyway. It is all for the sake of our own investigations.’
’That’s true,’ Kachia agreed with him. ’I’ll be waiting then.’

Back at the Arrays Guild Branch in the North Section, Rean smiled brightly at the Arrays Master who had just tested him. "How was it, senior? Did I do well enough?"
The man’s mouth twitched.
Did Rean do well enough?
You bet he did!
Not only had Rean passed the test, but he had done so far better than the man overseeing the examination could have managed himself. The supervisor stared at the simple array Rean had constructed, his expression caught somewhere between disbelief and excitement. "What kind of array work is that...? I’ve never seen anything like it before. It was amazing!"
Rean scratched the back of his head. He had truly built nothing more than an extremely simple energy-gathering array. Back in Besgol, something like this would barely qualify as passable for any Arrays Master. In fact, one could argue that it was a rather crude construction by the standards of the region.
Yet here, it was practically something out of legend.
"Well... I’ve been working on my own designs for many years, you know? I didn’t expect it to catch so much of your attention, senior."
The man’s eyes narrowed. He worked alone? Was that even possible? Where had he obtained such knowledge? How had he developed these methods? And, most importantly, what else did he know?
Those questions immediately appeared in the supervisor’s mind. However, they didn’t change the most important fact: Rean had unquestionably achieved the necessary results. "In any case, I have no reason not to pass you. Congratulations. You are now a member of the Arrays Guild."
Flugel and Lukay watched from the side. They had been allowed to observe Rean’s test, and they had expected him to pass without much difficulty.
Yet, the test result itself wasn’t what caught their attention. It was the obvious greed in the supervisor’s eyes.
Flugel narrowed his eyes slightly. Lukay noticed it as well.
The moment Rean demonstrated something beyond his current standards, the man’s attitude had changed. He was no longer looking at Rean as some random cultivator who had come to take a test.
He was looking at him as a treasure.
And that could be far more troublesome than simply dealing with an arrogant worker at the front desk... or maybe... it might be helpful instead, right?
