Chapter 3308: Descending

Chapter 3308: DescendingEditor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

Fang Heng and Zane hid not far from the temple.

After waiting for more than five hours, Fang Heng was the first to look up at the sky.

Something was happening!

In the high sky, thick dark clouds began to churn and roll.

Within the pitch-black cloud layer, a dark golden radiance shimmered faintly, and several spiral vortices slowly began to take shape.

"They’re here, they’re here."

Zane also noticed the anomaly and unconsciously tensed his body.

A dark golden pillar of light descended from the center of the vortex, shining onto the black wasteland of the Netherworld.

Soon after, a second and a third appeared.

Three humanoid phantoms quickly condensed within the pillars of light.

Zane watched the light pillars closely and whispered, "Brother Fang Heng, this looks a lot like the Descent method used by the God Clan."

"Mm." Fang Heng nodded slightly, then shook his head. "The aura is off. They’re not from the God Clan."

Hollan and the other two necromancy instructors looked solemn.

The pressure was immense.

Dealing with just one Holy Realm was already troublesome, and now a powerful force possibly related to the God Clan had appeared.

After about half a minute, the pillars of light gradually faded away.

Three humanoid creatures appeared in the center of the light.

Their figures were about the same size as humans but more robust. Their entire bodies were tightly encased in dark golden armor, even their faces covered by a thin film of light.

Fang Heng was quite curious.

That armor seemed capable of automatically isolating them from the corrosive aura of the Netherworld.

And oddly enough, the surrounding Netherworld creatures appeared terrified of them, scattering and keeping their distance.

Zane examined the descended beings and frowned. "Strange, they don’t seem that strong. Are they all mechanical?"

"One of them is a living being. The other two have no signs of lifeblood circulation."

Fang Heng nodded slightly.

Judging from their aura, their strength was roughly on par with that of ordinary soul warriors.

Spirit forms? Or robotic units?

After descending, the three beings cautiously surveyed their surroundings. When the Netherworld creatures gathered around the temple dispersed, they headed toward the interior of the temple.

Fang Heng observed them from afar.

The first three gathered near the sealing stone tablet and inspected it. Then they huddled together around its periphery, with one of them crouching before the tablet, seemingly attempting to reseal it.

Fang Heng frowned in thought, considering whether to strike and capture them all at once.

"President Fang Heng," Instructor Hollan whispered, "the other side only sent three people this time, but there’s definitely an organized team behind them. We don’t yet know the strength of that team. If we recklessly kill them all, it might cause trouble later."

"Yeah, I agree," Zane nodded beside him. "Judging from their aura, their backers are likely the God Clan. We’d better stay cautious."

"Mm, I understand."

Fang Heng nodded.

He knew the logic.

They had just managed to open the passage between the death realm and the Netherworld. If these people were truly backed by the God Clan, their descent would inevitably bring war.

Even the death realm could be dragged into it.

Even if his guess was wrong and the ones controlling things weren’t from the God Clan, anyone capable of sealing the entire Netherworld to this extent must possess immense power.

There was no need to clash head-on for now.

Fang Heng continued observing their movements.

There it was!

Time to test them.

Fang Heng quickly condensed a mark before him.

Skeleton summoning skill!

Rows of evil spirit skeletons emerged from the flickering magic arrays surrounding Fang Heng.

Go!

The evil spirit skeletons, their eye sockets burning with ghostly fire, began marching toward the temple’s Great Hall.

Inside the temple, Adam was concentrating on reconstructing the divine magic array when he suddenly sensed something approaching. He turned his head toward the temple entrance.

He saw more than twenty evil spirit skeletons that had somehow appeared, striding quickly toward the temple’s interior.

Huh?

What was happening?

Adam’s expression changed slightly.

He was wearing Holy Light armor, which caused Netherworld creatures to instinctively avoid him. Theoretically, such low-tier Netherworld creatures should not be approaching.

Had they gone mad?

Adam whispered, "Stop them!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, the two soul warriors beside him manifested divine longswords in their hands and dashed toward the incoming creatures.

Whoosh!

The Tier 2 soul warriors rushed in front of the evil spirit skeletons, their longswords glowing with condensed holy power. The blades sliced through the air, leaving two arcs of sword light.

"Slash!"

"Bang! Bang!!"

Two evil spirit skeletons failed to dodge and exploded instantly under the divine swords, scattering shattered bones everywhere.

The soul warrior spirits’ attributes far surpassed those of the evil spirit skeletons, giving them overwhelming power. In an instant, several evil spirit skeletons at the front were smashed apart by the divine swords.

But the next moment, evil spirits from beneath the Netherworld’s surface reanimated the broken bones, pulling them back together as the skeletons shakily stood up again.

The two holy soul warriors remained expressionless, continuing to swing their swords among the twenty-some skeletons, constantly shattering them to keep them from reaching the central stone tablet.

Zane watched from a distance, then turned to Fang Heng. "Brother Fang, something feels off."

"Yeah."

Fang Heng had noticed it too; the two soul warriors fighting the skeletons moved in an oddly stiff manner.

Before Fang Heng could act further, Adam hastily resealed the stone tablet and retreated quickly through another exit of the temple.

The two soul warriors entangled with the skeletons immediately followed him.

As Adam reached the outer area of the temple, the cloud-covered sky above once again began to form swirling vortices.

Three golden pillars of light descended from the vortices in succession, enveloping Adam and the other two completely.

[Hint: The temple you control has been sealed by an unknown power. You have lost control of the temple.]

Fang Heng saw the game prompt flash before his eyes, and at the same time, the faint light spots in his sea of consciousness that had been providing faith energy disappeared.

Zane saw Fang Heng not moving and whispered, "Brother Fang, they’re getting away."

"Mm."

Fang Heng quickly formed a new imprint with both hands. Not far away, the three death knights under his command suddenly accelerated, charging toward one of the soul warriors who was reversing the descent process.

Adam’s face changed instantly when he saw the charging death knights.

What the hell? Death knights?!

Was this guy insane?!

The death knights closed in within moments. One of them raised his massive rune greatsword high and brought it crashing down onto the golden armor of the soul warrior spirit undergoing reverse descent.

"Boom!!"

A surge of holy aura erupted.

The warhorse beneath the death knight let out a shrill neigh.

The blossoming divine radiance drove away the shadows surrounding the death knight!

"Bang!!!"

The soul warrior spirit was knocked out of the reverse descent passage by the death knight’s strike.
