Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1647: Omega Rune

Chapter 1647: Omega Rune

"Wife, what can I do for you?" Wang Wei asked as he sipped his tea, acting as if everything was normal.

"Really? Acting innocent?"

"I have no idea what you’re talking about?"

"You cut off the budget for my department," Wu Hong snapped.

"If you have any complaints, please fill out File 2-B78. If you feel I’ve abused my power, use File 987G instead."

"Bastard, you want to fight?"

"Liste, love of my life, I have a system," Wang Wei sighed. "Your department — while probably the most important — will be useless until the first Saint successfully descends into the world. Before that, your work is just not a priority. So, until then, your budget will be the smallest."

Wang Wei received a fierce look.

"You can’t threaten or bribe me. Well, maybe you can bribe me with a few pictures. How about a maid outfit? My nose is bleeding just thinking about it. How about we do a role-play event, and I can dress up too. What do you like? Fireman? Femboy? General? Perhaps you’d like to add a touch of Transformation Magic. Oh, you’re so naughty."

"You think you can distract me with temptation?"

"So, no to the roleplay?"

"We’ll talk about that another day," Wu Hong calmly said. "Now, let’s discuss the topic at hand."

Wang Wei sighed deeply; he was already in the mood since his imagination had taken control. "I have already given you my reason."

"It makes no sense for our budget to be on the same level as those small departments," Wu Hong argued. Besides the department Maitreya created during her wrathful path, there are a few other smaller departments, such as the Heavenly Art, to which Xu Shi belongs.

"Wife, think about this logically. I have even slashed the Divine Army’s budget in the name of efficiency. Do you think you wouldn’t be affected?" Wang Wei asked. "When the time comes, and you guys need to deal with the aftermath of a Saint Battle, I will give you so much World Source as support that it will leak out of your pores. But for now, you need to live under a tight budget."

Wu Hong stared at him.

"How about we ask the Saint to intervene? I’m sure you would respect her decision."

Wu Hong sneered. Many people have complained, but Maitreya hasn’t said a word, signaling that she agrees with this approach. No matter how anybody feels, they can’t argue that Wang Wei’s system has utilized the resources for the most efficient result.

"I didn’t know you had this asshole side to you."

"I had to hide it before you said yes," Wang Wei shrugged.

"You!"

"Don’t act like you didn’t hide things from me. I know how truly crazy you are."

"What are you talking about?"

"The twins told me what you did when they were kidnapped."

"They told you?" Wu Hong asked with wide eyes. Not long after these two became Empyreans, someone had the bright idea to use them against Wu Hong and the Origin Seal Continent. A primal rage took over Wu Hong, and she went a bit mad trying to rescue them. She was not proud of how she acted during that time.

"How can they betray me like this?" Wu Hong said with clenched teeth. The event took place in another Chaos World, so she did a great job afterward to wipe all traces clean. Additionally, they promised not to reveal a word to another soul.

"I can be quite persuasive," Wang Wei smiled.

Wu Hong remained silent, pondering how she would respond to this betrayal. There are certain things about themselves that a woman must never reveal — even to their husband. And how she acted was one of those things. "I knew I should have cleaned their memories," she muttered before sipping her drink.

"You really should have," Wang Wei nodded. He has not done some terrible things, even crossing a moral bottom line during his final battle with Di Tian. But even that wasn’t nearly as bad as what his wife did. On the contrary, he looked like a Saint.

"We will never speak of this again, do you understand?"

"Alright," Wang Wei immediately nodded. ’What scary eyes,’ he thought as he felt his heart pumping faster than normal.

"How is the creation of the third transcendent foundation proceeding?" Wang Wei asked, trying to change the subject. "Is it done?"

"It’s only been 100 Yuan Epoch in true time. How can it be done?"

"That’s right. You should have been using this time to fully control the second foundation," Wang Wei nodded. "Do you at least have some ideas?"

"I have. The fundamental core of my Dao is runes — or words with power. I plan to draw power from the Alpha and Omega Rune."

"The first word to ever be uttered in the Chaos Universe and the last that will close it during its destruction," Wang Wei uttered. "It’s a good idea, but isn’t the Omega Rune a theoretical thing?" Since the universe was created or born, according to the laws of Yang-Ying, it will have an end; hence, the concept of the Omega Rune exists. The issue is how to access the power of this rune when the Chaos Universe is at the peak of its development.

"I plan to find numerous timelines on the verge of extinction and deduce my own Omega Rune."

"That’s a great idea," Wang Wei nodded. He was glad his wife no longer shared these other Primordial Selves’ individual weariness toward the Infinite Trichiliocosm.

"What about you? Have you thought of something?"

"As of now, all my ideas are too basic, so I’ll say no."

"Well, you still have plenty of time."

"True." Wang Wei hadn’t even cultivated his second transcendent foundation yet, not to mention all the other things on his plate.

"Alright, it’s time for me to leave."

"You still have more work to do?"

"No, I have a meeting with Xun Junyao."

"Oh? Well, good luck."

"Thanks," she replied before teleporting away.

"Not even a goodbye kiss — how heartless," Wang Wei muttered.

...

"Tea or wine?"

"Tea, if you don’t mind," Xun Junyao replied.

"You’re my guest, so why would I mind?" Wu Hong smiled as she served one of her best teas. "I hope you enjoy the meal."

"There were rumors that your achievements in Food Dao were unparalleled," Xun Junyao said as she looked at the table of delicacies. "But you should know I’m a harsh critic."

"These rumors usually have their ups and downs, and recently, Cao Sicong has been the one to revive them," Wu Hong smiled. "But even he has no idea what I can do at my best."

Xun Junyao slowly and elegantly picked up her chopstick to taste the meat dish. Her eyes immediately lit up after one bite. How could she describe the taste? It was as if someone had invented billions of new tastes, and somehow, they were all ideally suited for her. She took a second bite, and this time, she took her time to savor every flavor.

"This is amazing," Xun Junyao commented. She wasn’t lying when proclaiming herself a harsh critic. For most of her life, men and women have searched for the best dishes in the world as a way to please her. Additionally, Blood Dragon offered her one of the best chefs of the age, Chen Chu — who is a generation talent. But while Xun Junyao had all the faith in him to make a meal even better than this one, he had a long way to go.

Wu Hong smiled, and the two enjoyed the small banquet, talking about all kinds of things. Once the food and drink were finished, they finally began their conversation. "Now you choose to be a reserve?" Wu Hong smiled.

"That’s fair. In that case, I’ll be direct and ask: Are you and Wang Wei together?"

"We are."

Xun Junyao paused.

"What?"

"I didn’t expect to receive such a direct answer."

"I’m not surprised. Because of my strength, most people put me on a pedestal, believing I am above romance or that no one is worthy to be by my side," Wu Hong explained.

"They discard your femininity."

"Exactly. But while I have high standards, I also want to find someone to love."

Xun Junyao sighed deeply. "At least it’s better than being seen as something to own — a prize to display to the world and show their great conquest."

"It used to be like that for me too — especially during my early rise," Wu Hong explained before sneering deeply. "And even after reaching my peak, some people still saw me as something to one day conquer. Don’t worry, the way the world perceives you will change once you’re strong enough."

"But it shouldn’t be like this," Xun Junyao said with a wry smile.

"No, it shouldn’t," Wu Hong agreed. "If you ever need a place to relax and rejuvenate yourself, I recommend the Absolute Yin World. It’s a world of only women, and it is one of the most relaxing experiences I’ve had in my life."

"I think I’ll take you on that offer one day."
