Chapter 1657: Capture List
After consulting with numerous departments, Wan Yanmei and her team at the Divine War Post held a strategy meeting to determine the next course of action. The immediate consensus was an aggressive approach since they needed souls and destiny, but the issue was how to best achieve this task.
"It’s a shame they moved all the mortals," one of the strategists commented. Mortals are always at the bottom of the hierarchy pyramid, which means they often harbor resentment and negative emotions that they can weaponize to deal a significant blow to their opponent.
"What’s the point of saying all of this? Let’s focus on the task at hand."
"We don’t have many options due to how little information we have about the enemy’s capabilities. So far, we only know their Refining Department is not as good as ours, but the information about their battle capabilities is limited. So, I suggest a direct confrontation."
"That’s worth considering. Whether we win or lose a direct battle will reveal enough information to know the best way to proceed."
"I don’t entirely agree. Since we’ve decided on an aggressive approach, we must do something bold and unexpected."
"What do you have in mind?" Wan Yanmei asked the shifty-eyed military strategist.
"Operation Marionette."
"Is it truly wise to use such a tactic so early into this war?"
"Not at all," the shifty-eyed strategist replied. "We can kill a large number of people, create internal spies, accelerate the speed of understanding the enemy’s information lock, and gather information based on how they respond to this tactic — that’s four birds with one stone."
"That may be true, but we will have to neutralize their Saints to ensure success."
"That’s the key, but if we succeed, we should be able to gather the necessary materials for a second Metal Saint to descend."
"In that case, your plan might work. First Commander?"
"Let’s do...it," Wan Yanmei’s voice trailed as she looked in the sky, her vision penetrating the base and the dimension to observe the sky outside. She observed an enormous array covering the sky, and immediately afterward, a group of people arrived and started repairing the cracks left from the Saint battle.
"Immortals dealing with the powers of a Saint?" a strategist muttered. Even if it was a remnant from a few clashes, this was unheard of in their timeline.
"Summon Fan Leiwei immediately, " Wan Yanmei ordered, and Cui Yi sent the notification. However, it was not until the repair ended that Fan Leiwei finally teleported inside the meeting room.
"What took you so long?"
Fen Leiwei did not answer as he seemed deep in thought. "How did she combine all these Dao Wills with Heavenly Dao and a Saint Will without them becoming useless? Usually, the weaker Dao Wills should be useless or assimilated, not to mention the arrogant nature of Heavenly Dao and a Saint Will? Even if they were cooperative, their nature remains distinct, making it challenging to fuse unless one is overwhelmingly more powerful than the other and forces the union.
"But that doesn’t appear to be the case. Not only are all these powers working in harmony, but Heavenly Dao has even gained the power to assimilate a Saint’s Power to nourish itself. How did she do it?"
"Wait, are you telling us that this world’s Heavenly Dao has gained the power to strengthen itself from the remnants of Saint powers?" Cui Yi asked.
Fan Leiwei finally focused and glanced at Cui Yi before turning to Wan Yanmei: "You summoned me?"
"Answer his question," Wan Yanmei snapped.
"That’s right," Fan Leiwei nodded. "The woman who copied our boat and designed the protective system — it appears this is also her work."
"You’re talking about the woman called Wu Hong?" a strategist asked. "The information warned about her battle prowess, and did not mention much about her achievements in arrays."
"The one called Time Eater is a waste. Do you expect him to provide accurate information?" Fan Leiwei sneered.
"Can you do something about this array?" Wan Yanmei asked.
"With the little information I have, the answer is no."
Wan Yanmei groaned.
"Should we continue the previous plan in spite of this new variable?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure about this?" Cui Yi asked.
"We’ve already learned how selfish this timeline’s cultivators are. Since one of them designed that array, they would never allow Heavenly Dao to grow too strong beyond their control, which means it will not be a major problem for now. In fact, we may be able to use it against them in the future."
"Very well."
"That woman, Empress Wu, she’s on the highest threat list, correct?" Fan Leiwei asked.
"Yes. Why are you asking?"
"I request she’s placed in the must-catch list."
Wan Yanmei frowned. "Reasons?"
"Do I need to explain? Her knowledge is valuable. If we can convert it, that would be ideal. If not, searching her soul would also be acceptable."
"I will consider your request."
Fan Leiwei nodded. "Is there anything else?"
"No, you’re dismissed."
The Divine War Post immediately immobilized, and for this round of the fight, their presence seemed overwhelming. They not only sent the Puppet Legion, but also the Time Boats and the Silver Legion, an army of cultivators clad in silver armor. More importantly, the Metal Saint appeared and directly challenged Maitreya to a battle.
At first, she was suspicious and did not immediately respond to the request, but the Metal Saint forced her hand when he attacked the Qin Court with a terrifying blow. However, things became even more suspicious when the Saint Puppet’s willingness entered the Source Qi Space for their battle.
Meanwhile, Qiyuan in the War Room responded with a safe and measured approach. He employed the same tactics for the boats and puppets, using numbers to compensate for the lack of quality. As for how to deal with the Silver Legion, the Creation Life Legion was sent to test out the waters. Before the war, all Empyreans and Paragons handed their Grandmist World so that Creation Lives could be manufactured in large quantities as foot soldiers, and now, they were being deployed.
"Of course, these barbarians would use World Creations as cannon fodder," Cui Yi sneered. In the Divine Timeline, the Highest Sovereign sought to eliminate the differences between alternate and original selves, and as such, the eternal enslavement of any creature is forbidden. According to the laws, all creatures created from the Grandmist World will have the loyalty to their creator — which is embedded in their very essence — removed, and they will gain their freedom, becoming citizens of the Divine Court. As such, World Creations or World Live — as they are known in that timeline — have a high status since they can also walk the Transcendent Path after passing the tribulation required to leave the Grandmist World.
"Why are you all riled up? Isn’t it like this in almost all the timelines?" White Saber asked.
"I know that, but I expect the Primordial Timeline to be unique in some way," Cui Yi explained.
"The Highest Sovereign said it himself," Wan Yanmei chimed in. "The Primordial Timeline has a perfect world and endless resources, but the people do not cherish it. What did you expect from that type of cultivator?"
"You have a point."
...
Wang Wei looked at the empty screen, his mind thinking about Time Eater. Their fate or karma has not ended, and as he promised, one day, he will turn him into a time artifact. ’Wait until I catch you,’ Wang Wei thought before standing.
"You’re leaving?"
"The Disaster Relief Department will need to fix that terrifying void crack, so I’ll head out to authorize more resources to them before they come complaining and gloating."
"Alright, but be on standby. As of now, I am designating you as a part-time member of the War Room," Qiyuan calmly stated, making Wang Wei sigh to himself. He had a feeling this would happen.
"I understand," he nodded before leaving for his department. Qiyuan continued to oversee the war situation. He first sent an escort group for the Disaster Relief Department to prevent any sneak attack, before focusing on other aspects of the war, primarily the casualties, troop reserves, and materials.
He did not spend long before an alarm array activated as spatial energy was detected. Soon, three legions teleported from the hidden dimension, attacking the nearby cultivators, which is where the Qin Court is. Qiyuan responded with the time boats, their puppets, and the Creation Lives. However, less than ten minutes into the battle, he realized his approach would not be effective.
The enemy had more Time Boats, and they became deadlier when it came to dealing with their cheap copies. The number of puppets also increased, but more importantly, there were more Puppet Queens in one legion, which made it even harder to identify them. Lastly, the Silver Legion was also decimating the Creation Legion.
"These soldiers clad in silver — they remind me of the Fanatic Knights," Ye Guang commented. "However, instead of faith, their source of power seemed to be a belief in a mission."
"They are indeed similar," Qiyuan nodded. The Fanatic Knights were a mighty army from the Infinite Faith World during the Second Origin War. That legion was terrifying because they were all fanatics who believed with all their souls and maybe down to their [Existence] that they were fighting for the right cause of their God. That belief — which was artificially cultivated — became an obsession that powered and boosted their strength.
