Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1790: Great Sacrifice

Chapter 1790: Great Sacrifice

Wang Wei did not hesitate to activate the power of his Saint Dao Heart, and there it was: an unknown power existing between reality and fiction. On one hand, it could be described as Laws, but there is still some subtle difference, so Wang Wei called it rules. The 3800 Innate Grand Dao did not naturally evolve these rules; rather, they were the limits and restrictions imposed on the world by its creator and controller.

What was the purpose of those rules? Wang Wei’s first instinct would be to say that they exist purely for the creator or controller to control the actions and lives of their creation. However, after controlling his bias and putting himself in the creators/controllers’ place, he can see another purpose of these rules: perfecting Heaven and Earth.

A word in which people can freely accelerate the speed of time will cause chaos and too many cultivators to be created. A world in which the top echelons of cultivators cannot die, no matter what, would lead people to become reckless, fail to appreciate life, and abuse the power of true immortality. A world in which powerful cultivators have the reproductive capabilities of a regular person would result in too many families controlling all the world’s resources and too many geniuses inheriting their parents’ talent. Although Grand Dao wants a more powerful cultivator, she also doesn’t want too much, or the world would descend into a state of madness and chaos.

Looking at things objectively, Wang Wei admitted that these rules must exist; otherwise, these powerful cultivators will have too much power. Furthermore, cultivators required trials and tribulations — not only to improve, but also to keep them grounded — which makes these rules the perfect obstacle.

With his Saint Dao Heart, Wang Wei barely felt the hidden rules of death in this world applied to Nature Wrath. What happened next was unexpected but also understandable. Nature Wrath revived himself, but Wang Wei immediately noticed something different about him:

"His cultivation level fell back to the Empyrean Realm," Wang Wei analyzed. "So, my Will Domination cannot completely cancel the [Eternity Characteristic] in his [Existence], but it can slowly nullify it until he’s a mortal, and I can permanently kill him? Would it have been the same if I had a Saint Will Prototype?" He didn’t think so. As a saint trait, the Saint Will could work similarly to, or even the same as, the [Existence Hierarchy]. However, he has to test that theory first.

"What happened? What’s going on?" Nature Wrath asked as he looked around. The revival method of this world — at least for Primals or the Otherworldly Demons — seemed to be different from back home. At least, Nature Wrath has never felt such disorientation from revival in his entire life. Someone answered him, but the answer was a terrifying fist filled with the Power of Nothingness.

"No, stop!" Shen Tian yelled, but no one listened. He was still dealing with the effect of the previous punch, still fighting the bit of Will Domination inside him that was nullifying his regenerative abilities. So, how could he have the strength to save his son? Of course, that didn’t stop him from trying. As a father, it was his duty, and he would go above and beyond for his child.

A black and white shield appeared around Nature Wrath, followed by a spatial force trying to teleport him away; Old Man Black Chess had made his move. Wang Wei remained calm. He knew his attack was enough to obliterate that shield, but it would buy the enemy just enough time to rescue his prey, so he used a different tactic.

Firstly, he manifested the [Rejecting Phenomena] aspect of his fleshly body to reject the concept of Yin-Yang, Protection, Array, and even chess, which ultimately allows his fist to bypass Nature Wrath’s protective shield without wasting any power or giving the old chess master an opportunity to act.

Secondly, Wang Wei used a portion of the attack’s power to suppress the entire void, preventing anyone from teleporting within its range. Lastly, the punch hit its target and obliterated him. There was no need to use such overwhelming force to kill a little Empyrean, but Wang Wei wanted to see whether the Power of Nothingness would have an additional effect on the rules of Death.

"Bastard!" Shen Tian roared. He could feel that his son was rapidly approaching death, so he no longer showed any reservation. In the millions of years spent in this world, he had already rebuilt a secret Divine Haven to gather faith. Although the amount paled in comparison to the golden, divine world back home, the benefits were more substantial than Shen Tian previously imagined.

The culture of this world is more raw and barbaric than the Primordial Timeline. Influenced by the Literary Way, the concept of etiquette, benevolence, and virtue acted as a mask for the true barbaric sides of the cultivation world. This world does not have this mask. The rules that the strong prey on and rule over the weak have ingrained themselves in the zeitgeist, meaning they have even influenced mortals.

Shen Tian was delighted to learn that these mortals worshipped the weak. So, when he offered them protection and even powers, the faith he gathered was extremely pure and concentrated. Sadly, the laws and rules of this world severely restricted the cultivation of the Divine Path.

"Burning faith to increase his strength? And such pure faith power?" Wang Wei analyzed. He did not take Shen Tian’s outburst seriously. So, without much reaction, he clapped his hands together to enact a domain that isolated everything around him.

Boom!

Shen Tian’s roaring voice and attack kept being blocked by the domain. The agonized voice of a father about to watch his son die could not deter Wang Wei. Everything inside the domain was isolated, except for the hidden rules of death. An even weaker version of Nature Wrath slowly manifested, and this time, the only difference was that the confusion was less severe.

"The power of nothingness only increased the effect by a small margin," Wang Wei thought in disappointment. He casually waved his hand, and Nature Wrath lost his last life; death was now at his front step, one move away from taking him from the mortal coil.

"Father...please, save me."

"Wang Wei! Don’t you dare! I’ll kill you and everyone you care about if you dare."

Wang Wei ignored him and clenched his fist instead. A black beam of light descended from the sky, but even Old Man Black Chess’s best move could do nothing about this domain.

"Please, please," Shen Tian continued. "I’ll do anything you want. Didn’t you want to control the Divine Faith Haven? I’ll hand it over to you. Just don’t kill him."

Wang Wei glanced at him before reverting his eyes to Nature Wrath. The Divine Faith Haven’s best utilization was its destruction and stripping it of all its luck and destiny. These gods are a nightmare to deal with. Even if Wang Wei controlled their souls, the influence of faith or incense would still make their personalities volatile and difficult to manage — especially since he is not a God who could use a more potent Divine Path to suppress them.

"Please, don’t kill me," Nature Wrath uttered. He was now a mortal, and death was absolute.

"The Way of Incense is truly scary," Wang Wei commented. "It can even allow someone without a backbone like you to become a Primal." He shook his head before punching this man into oblivion. A primal roar of madness and rage echoed between Heaven and Earth, followed by a terrifying barrage of attacks on the domain. However, the result was the same.

Wang Wei calmly observed the hidden rules of death, and as expected, this time around, Nature Wrath remained dead. A feeling told him that this man couldn’t even be revived by his secret vault, or even if someone tried to recreate his [Existence]. The only way he probably could be brought back is if his father became a Primordial Saint and tried to break the rules of death, but Wang Wei’s intuition tells him even Primordial Saints cannot break the rules of death.

"Hahaha, what kind of father am I? I can’t even protect my own seed," Shen Tian suddenly roared. "What kind of Godkind am I? I can’t even protect my own pantheon. Hahaha. God? What an ironic name."

He glanced at Wang Wei, his eyes full of madness. "I will make you pay, even if it’s with my life." Wang Wei teleported before him, preparing to annihilate with a few punches, but Old Man Black Chess was prepared. He used the full extent of his Go Array to create countless layers of space between them, giving Shen Tian enough time.

"My name is Shen Tian from the Primordial Timeline. I offer my soul, my body, my mind, my very [Existence] to any higher being willing to take it. I don’t need anything much in return, just the power to avenge my dead son."

As soon as he uttered these words, an unknown power resonated with him, making Wang Wei frown.
