Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1823: Controlled Greed

Chapter 1823: Controlled Greed

Standing before this towering pagoda, Wang Wei waved his hand to create a token. Although it was a forgery, the token was more than enough to access the prison. Numerous Paragons and lower realm disciples guarded this place and were in charge of the day-to-day managerial duties. So, the first thing Wang Wei did was eliminate them as a threat; the process was easy and direct — he killed them with one thought.

Following the direction where he sensed his spirit particle, Wang Wei soon reached an area blocked by a powerful array. "They really placed her in the Saint Prison," Wang Wei sighed to himself. The maid was only an ordinary Empyrean, yet the holy land placed her in such a heavily guarded prison just because she was connected to Wang Wei.

Wang Wei flickered his wrist, and an invisible fate line flew into the distance, connecting to a Saint drop of blood fallen from the battle in the air. Borrowing the Saint’s fate, Wang Wei created a sect’s official token, which he used to gain access to the higher level of the prison.

The maid was in a terrible state. Four rods pierced her limbs, her clothes were tattered, and she had a blank stare as she glanced at the sky. "Her mind is destroyed. Probably a powerful Soul Search Method," Wang Wei thought. Despite her terrible state, Wang Wei knew this was just the beginning. The holy land only did a preliminary interrogation, but luckily for her, there wasn’t enough time for a Saint to oversee the situation.

"When gods fight, mortals are the ones who truly suffer," Wang Wei calmly stated as he retrieved his particle spirit. The poor maid was innocent and was just doing her job of serving the Holy Son. Unfortunately, she became a pawn in the game between Wang Wei and the holy land; the worst part is that she was the lowest type of pawn — the kind that can be discarded.

Wang Wei pointed at the maid, and a black-and-white wheel materialized above her head. The maid’s body and soul dissipated soon afterward. "I have sent you to reincarnation and even gave you a Luck Blessing. Hopefully, in your next life, you can become powerful enough to control your fate." As a person who practices the Dao of Karma, he tried not to wrong too many innocent people.

Removing the maid’s out of his mind, Wang Wei glanced at his spirit particle. He did not absorb it back into his soul — that would be foolish. Instead, he retrieved the memory stored in it and analyzed whether it was consistent with the memory he had erased. Once he ensured they fit, Wang Wei rewrote his memory to match the particles. Of course, he still plans to check with his secret vault after returning home.

Crash!

The spirit particle exploded into non-existence. All temporal connections to the participle were erased, preventing someone from rewinding time to retrieve it. All karma was erased to prevent anyone from using cause and effect to target Wang Wei. Finally, his eyes focused on the other prisoners.

"So many Saints," Wang Wei thought with shining eyes. With these people as sacrifices, his plan had a higher chance of survival. Approaching the nearest Saint — who was a human with two dragon horns — Wang Wei was immediately attracted by the sealing cuffs around the man’s wrist as he lay immobile on the floor.

"Interesting. The cuffs not only seal their power, but also prevent them from committing suicide and reviving," Wang Wei thought. Without hesitation, he recorded the runes and material composition of the cuff. His sect will soon need to have the ability to seal and imprison Saints.

Wang Wei prepared to take the unconscious Saint away when he noticed the latter’s internal organs were gone. Intrigued by what happened to him, he traced the past to observe the cause and effect of the injury. His eyelid jumped before returning to normal. "How ruthless," Wang Wei muttered.

The Holy Land did not imprison these Saints because they couldn’t kill them, or out of fear for their revival. No, they were alive to serve as resources. Their Saint Skins were used as defensive treasures; their muscles and tendons were used to craft bow and whip artifacts; their bones were used as body-refining pills; their organs were used as sources of the purest Five Element Energy; and their blood was used to create spiritual fields capable of growing Saint herbs.

"My resolve is starting to shake," Wang Wei thought. Instead of using these Saints as sacrifices, it might be better to return to the sect with them and copy the holy land’s method. However, Wang Wei soon steeled his heart. Grand Dao has been too audacious lately; she needs to be taught a lesson.

"If I don’t give her something to do, she might plot against me during my sanctification," Wang Wei thought. No matter what, he needed to give Grand Dao a warning. As for the greater ramifications of his somewhat reckless plan? He didn’t care; he’ll leave the mess to his future self.

All 32 imprisoned Saints were captured, leaving no one in this part of the prison. If it were up to Wang Wei, he would have also targeted the deeper level where Tribunal Lords were kept. However, he didn’t do it for two reasons. First, he wasn’t confident he could trick the array leading to that level. By combining his Fate Technique and the Heaven Deception Array, maybe there was a chance of success, but that would take too long.

Ultimately, the real reason he didn’t do so is that these captured Tribunal Lords were the prize of the invaders. The expeditioners and the Infinite Divine Court came here for resources. It’s one thing if all the Saint prisoners are gone, but something else entirely if the second-step prisoners are also nowhere to be found.

Controlling his greed, Wang Wei left the prison and headed directly to the library. Wang Wei had already memorized a vast amount of information from the library, but in a short period, it was not enough to acquire everything. But now, he had an opportunity. Wang Wei cast a spell to copy all the knowledge from the Mortal Realm all the way to the Primordial Chaos Saint. Knowing it would take too long to break through the area where the holy land kept information about the second and even third steps, he didn’t touch them. He also didn’t destroy or take the book from the previous floor, just copied it.

The next destination was the Spiritual Garden. Wang Wei expected things to proceed as smoothly as the other areas, but he encountered trouble: a Saint blocked his way. Sensing the fighting intent in this woman’s eyes, Wang Wei shook his head, "Couldn’t you have imitated your comrades? Why are you wasting your life?"

Was there no one guarding the prison or the library? Of course, there was. Without someone controlling these arrays, Wang Wei could have used brute force to reach the higher levels. The Holy Land allowed the Saints with a low-level foundation to remain behind and protect these institutions. And these Saints, in their deep wisdom, pretended they hadn’t detected Wang Wei.

Anyway, he was using a technique to hide his presence, and they only detected him because of the array’s power. As long as they tell their superior they didn’t see anything, no one will blame them. However, this woman didn’t want to participate in the charade.

"I won’t let you greedy bastard get your hand on the holy land’s foundation," the woman sneered. Her body released a terrifying aura, signaling she was prepared for battle.

Wang Wei glanced at her while thinking," The ancients said there are 33 Heavens. I have 32 Saints as a sacrifice. Adding her may boost the ceremony’s effect. No, I still need one more as the initiator of the ritual."

"Amitabha, donor, your bloodlust is too intense. You need to lay down the butcher knife and convert to Buddhism. Only this way can your sin and karma be washed away."

Bang!

The female Saint felt an explosion deep in her Sea of Consciousness. Her expression turned ugly as she realized what was happening. She immediately cast hundreds of spiritual defensive techniques, but it was all in vain. A golden light spread to every inch of her Sea of Consciousness before turning into a Golden Body with Wang Wei’s visage.

In the material world, the female Saint immediately knelt on two knees, "Lord Buddha, please show me the way."

"I must admit: Buddhism’s mastery of Spiritual Technique is truly scary," Wang Wei thought to himself. No wonder Buddhism is so powerful; no wonder, in countless worlds, Buddhism loses control of its core values and becomes selfish to the point of being no different than demons.

"In another note, the difference between each pillar is too vast. No wonder Maitreya became obsessed with achieving a 12-pillar foundation," Wang Wei sighed. The Primordial Timeline Saints have some hope because of the Critical Hit Path, but in other timelines, foundation reigns supreme.

"Now, I’m looking forward more to the 13-pillar foundation," Wang Wei smiled. He didn’t need his intuition to know something special would happen at the 13 foundation.

"Let’s go," Wang Wei said.

"Yes, Lord Buddha."
