Chapter 1880: Universe Blueprint
"Hand it over," the Primordial Heaven Sword Saint said as soon as the group returned to the Black Tortoise Array.
"I haven't even sat down yet. Couldn't —"
"I'm not wasting another breath on you," the Primordial Heaven Sword Saint said, showing them his weapon. He still had one more attack of that caliber, and he wasn't afraid to use it. "Give me what you promised."
"Here," Trinity Venerable said, throwing a piece of metal. The Primordial Heaven Sword Saint caught and immediately scrutinized it. On the surface, the object in his hand resembled an ordinary piece of metal, but he could sense the [Sword-Saber Intent] hidden deep within it — an intent of the same origin as the [Sword-Saber Dao Source].
"I'll be in my quarters if you need me."
"Damn it, what a waste," Trinity Venerable thought as he watched the Sword Saint teleport away. Although that piece of metal was useless to him, he still planned to use it to blackmail something good from the Primordial Heaven Sword Saint. Unfortunately, he was forced to underutilize it.
"Don't forget that you owe me," Trinity Venerable said.
"I understand. I'll keep my side of the agreement," the Karma Root Monarch nodded.
"What should we do now?" the Slaughter Ancestor asked after taking his seat. "We are currently in a very bad situation."
"There are a few things we —" Trinity Venerable suddenly stopped, and then he disappeared from the room. The two looked at each other before using their divine sense to track his whereabouts, and they raised their eyebrows when they saw that he had arrived at one of the expeditioners' quarters.
"That's the Life Chaos Demon God's abode," the Karma Root Monarch commented. The two looked at each other, their eyes communicating more than words could ever. A few seconds later, the Trinity Venerable returned to the room, his teeth and hands clenched tightly, and his eyes were slightly red. However, his expression soon changed, returning to a calm, cold indifference.
"Our first move should be to completely separate from the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array, just like our previous commander did," Trinity Venerable suggested. "This should buy us some time before we make our next move."
"That's fine, but how long do you need before we proceed to the next step of the plan?" Karma Root Monarch asked.
"I've analyzed much of the essence of their [Death Power], so it shouldn't take a while," Trinity Venerable replied. His only worry is about the foreign nature of the Beyonder's power. "I'll enter a quick retreat, and then, we will make our move."
"And you're sure your formation can last long enough?" the Slaughter Ancestor asked.
"Do you think I would play with my life?"
"True."
"What about the expeditioners? Our new commander seemed to have chosen another side," Karma Root Monarch asked.
"These people are now a liability. Let's just put them in a hidden and secure dimension; we'll retrieve them once everything is over," Trinity Venerable coldly stated. If not for the fact that he might face terrible consequences if all of these expeditioners died, he wouldn't care about these weak ants.
"Fine by me."
"Alright, I'll see you in a while."
Reverse Black Stone Array, Infinite Divine Court:
No one uttered a word. Failures after failure had dealt a significant blow to the court, especially the capture of the prince. None of the Tribunal Lords present was immune to failure and could accept most of what had occurred, but the disappearance of the prince right under their noses was unacceptable.
"I apologize," Star Manifestation suddenly said. "Ever since his majesty chose me to carry his vessel seed, I've let power get to my head, which led to our current situation."
"You're not the only one to blame," the Yin-Yang Origin Dragon uttered, and the others nodded in agreement. The Heavenly Wolf Khan used to be their strategist, but ever since Star Manifestation returned from the Chaos Origin Realm, they sided with him to the point of almost alienating the Khan.
"Now is not the time for all of this," the Heavenly Wolf Khan uttered. "We need to act as soon as possible."
"What do you suggest?" Star Manifestation asked.
"First, we need to destroy the part of the array that we've lost control of."
"But, wouldn't that stop the production of the Reverse Black Stone?"
"At this point, this is a sacrifice we must make," Heavenly Wolf Khan sighed. "Anyway, we have piled up quite a few reserves. Hopefully, one of us can get out of this alive and bring them back to the court; it should last long enough to find another solution."
"Your words do not sound too confident," the Myriad Gourd Empress added.
"In our current situation, I would be arrogant and careless to remain confident."
"...True."
"The second thing we need to do is to head to the Highest Firmament."
"Wait, don't tell me you want to —"
"Take Lady Suiji's opportunity? Yes," Heavenly Wolf Khan nodded firmly.
The others looked at each other, their mouths slightly agape. Lady Suiji is a mysterious figure in the Infinite Divine Court, with many people believing she is one of the Highest Sovereign's concubines, but they know the truth. Lady Suiji used to be his majesty's teacher, and she has contributed immensely to his success.
That's why the Highest Sovereign offered her the opportunity of ascending to the third step after this world was discovered. The Sovereign cares about and trusts many people, including his children, the Empress, and many ministers. However, the moment he found an opportunity for ascension, Lady Suiji was the first to whom he offered it.
"Is this a good idea?" the Myriad Gourd Empress asked.
"Maybe not, but we can't contact her, and we are running out of options."
"Can we even succeed? Reaching the Highest Firmament is one thing, but what's next? Do we fight Lady Suiji's control over Grand Dao? That will be easier than stated," Star Manifestation added.
"Once we get there, we'll either find a solution or mess around enough to alarm Lady Suiji and force her to show up. Regardless of the outcome, it will be beneficial to us," the Heavenly Wolf Khan explained.
"I guess we don't have much of a choice."
Everyone sighed.
"Let's deal with the issue of the array first," the Khan added, ending this meeting on a somber note.
Less Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle, Headquarters:
The universe was placid, but that wasn't good news for Wang Wei. Everything felt like the calm before the storm. "Hmm? The avatar wants to know Ying Zheng's whereabouts?" With a flick of his wrist, he sneakily sent an invitation, trying to have an under-the-radar meeting. However, there was no response. Feeling something was wrong, he immediately deduced some information about the Human Emperor.
With the boost from the array, Wang Wei was about to calculate that there was no one in Ying Zheng's quarters, but all his other attempts to find the latter's whereabouts had failed. "Did someone get to him? Or is he hiding on his own? It's probably the latter," he thought, his mind suddenly remembering Hongjun's face. Then, without wasting too much time on this issue, he sent the information and his deduction back to the other avatar. His priority was still Death Reverence.
The previous calmness of the universe did not last long. A very short period passed before the expeditioners and the Infinite Divine Court followed in his footsteps, eliminating these compromised arrays. However, since Death Reverence had already prepared for such an eventuality, the damage to the ritual was little more than a mild inconvenience.
"The terrible feeling intensifies," Wang Wei thought, and he was right to feel as such. Less than 50,000 years after the arrays fell apart, a cosmic change occurred. The universe trembled slightly, drawing the attention of all the remaining powerhouses. Seven projections materialized between Heaven and Earth, visible from all corners of the universe.
"The Six Grand constructs, and that one should be the Highest Firmament," Wang Wei thought, glancing at one of the projections that showed this multilayered world. "What is he planning?" The terrible feeling intensified, and for a moment, Wang Wei wanted to activate his array to intervene. However, he swiftly controlled himself. Death Reverence currently held the highest authority among all the Grand Constructs. Approaching him now would be suicidal.
The seven projections suddenly vibrated before fusing into one, becoming a white world full of random dots, lines, and drawings that even a drunkard would be ashamed to admit were their own. "This reminds me of [Existence Blueprint] — could this be the blueprint of reality? Of this timeline?"
Wang Wei's face grew stern: "What the hell was Death Reverence doing?"
A humongous hand suddenly materialized in the white world, targeting an area resembling a nearsighted child trying to draw noodles. As the hand approached the designated area, countless attacks from the universe tried to stop it, but it was useless. Before these attacks could even reach, they would be corroded into oblivion due to the rapid passage of time, swallowed by the power of chaos, or returned to their original state by the power of death.
"I'm so glad the duchess didn't reveal herself," Wang Wei thought, but this was the only good news he had received in a while. The big hand crushed the chosen section of the World's Blueprint, and every living being felt that a tremendous change had occurred between Heaven and Earth.
