I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week

Chapter 3876 - 3864: Fell Into a Trap

Chapter 3876: Chapter 3864: Fell Into a Trap

"Director Sun, do you think this arrangement works?"

Qin Yuejin said with a smile:

"If it doesn’t, we can adjust it further."

"If Lin Yi has no other ideas, neither do I," Sun Guofu said with a laugh:

"Lin Yi’s previous account was for a program about people’s livelihood. The program ’Nearby News’ is also about things happening around common people, which are quite similar, so he should be able to handle it well."

"Then that’s settled. Prepare for it, and you can officially start work this afternoon."

"Understood."

After giving this instruction, Qin Yuejin and Chen Hui left.

Lin Yi was also about to leave when he noticed Sun Guofu giving him a signal, so he slowed down, letting the two of them leave first, and then quietly closed the office door.

"Director Sun, do you have something to say to me?"

"Oh, you... you’re still too young. They’ve dug a pit for you, and you just fell into it."

"Are you talking about how Qin Yuejin arranged for Chen Hui to be the host journalist of ’Entertainment Frontline’?"

Sun Guofu nodded and said:

"The program ’Entertainment Frontline’ has always had good ratings and is considered a cornerstone program of the station. Your overall scores are top-notch, and you also have the looks for it. I was planning to have you as the host journalist, but I didn’t expect Qin Yuejin to dig a pit for you to jump into, which leaves me with nothing to say to Zhao Jing."

"Director Zhao talked to me about this yesterday, but some things can’t be forced. Besides, I think this arrangement is quite good," Lin Yi said with a smile:

"That person called Chen Hui must have some relation with Qin Yuejin, and it seems like a good one, otherwise he wouldn’t help her like this. If you really fought for the host journalist position at ’Entertainment Frontline’, there might be some friction between you two, which wouldn’t be good."

"It’s impressive that you can think of these things, your insight is quite outstanding."

"If there’s no close relationship, Qin Yuejin definitely wouldn’t do such a thing, so if they want it, just give it to them."

"But you need to know that ’Entertainment Frontline’ is a program with a 1.0 rating. The foundation of the two programs is different. Your overall score is the highest, and your professional capabilities are undeniable, but your starting points are not the same."

"Although matters like this are important, one shouldn’t easily define the future. Who knows, we might overtake them later. It’s short-sighted to indulge in small advantages like this."

Lin Yi’s words completely won over Sun Guofu.

"I knew I wasn’t wrong about you. Work well here, with your abilities you’ll definitely find a way forward. If you’re gold, you will shine eventually. I have faith in you."

"Thank you, Director Sun."

"No need for thanks with me. Is there anything you’d like to know regarding the program?"

"What’s the main content? Is it also about helping the common people resolve conflicts and disputes?"

"That’s only one aspect. We also report on other livelihood issues, like covering hot events, interviewing celebrities, and sometimes there are travel assignments. In general, anything related to people’s lives can be reported."

"Got it."

"Go prepare. Bring that girl named Zhao Yuhuan with you. Meet with the other colleagues in the program team this afternoon to get acquainted, making future work easier."

"Okay."

After a brief conversation, Lin Yi left.

He didn’t really mind Qin Yuejin digging a pit for him, in fact, he found it rather amusing.

While in the new media department, the person he was benchmarking against was 18.

They were in the entertainment account type, and now that he’s in the news center, the person he’s benchmarking against has become Chen Hui. Although the surface seems different, the core hasn’t changed; it’s quite entertaining to think about it.

After leaving the news center, Lin Yi returned to the office, and at that time Zhao Yuhuan hadn’t returned.

Lin Yi took his phone out and sent her a message.

He briefly informed her about the relevant matters, but Zhao Yuhuan didn’t reply, she was probably busy.

Having nothing better to do, he tidied up his things and packed some of the more important items to take to his new office in the afternoon.

Close to noon, Zhao Jing called Lin Yi, asking him to have lunch together.

Once outside the TV station gates, Lin Yi found Zhao Jing.

"Just us two for lunch?"

"What’s up? Not satisfied having lunch with just me? Who else were you hoping for?" Zhao Jing responded with a slight pout.

"Couldn’t ask for more."

Zhao Jing laughed and started the car, driving to a nearby Huaiyang restaurant.

Once seated, Lin Yi didn’t hold back and casually ordered a few dishes and a pot of tea.

"This morning you met with Sun Guofu, what did he say to you?"

"Nothing much." Lin Yi casually replied and then recounted to Zhao Jing what had happened earlier.

"From what you’re saying, the relationship between Qin Yuejin and Chen Hui isn’t that simple."

Lin Yi nodded, "For him to go to such lengths, I guess they might be immediate family; otherwise, he wouldn’t take such a risk."

"That’s probably it," Zhao Jing said:

"Not competing with her was the right choice, but it’s a bit unfair to you."

"That’s quite normal, there’s no such thing as absolute fairness."

"I like your attitude. I need to learn from you in this regard."

"Remember to pay the tuition."

Zhao Jing laughed so hard her waist trembled, her chest bouncing along.

"How is the program thing going? How did you handle Xu Qingqing’s issue?"

"I was about to tell you, I’m not sure what’s gotten into Xu Qingqing, but she seems like a completely different person," Zhao Jing said, setting down her chopsticks:

"When they were talking to me about the program content, they were polite throughout, keeping themselves very humble, completely different from before."

Lin Yi nodded, not surprised, "That’s good news."

"But it’s quite bizarre," Zhao Jing thought back to the morning meeting:

"My idea was to offer a little, just as a gesture, but they insisted, saying they didn’t want any money as long as they could be on the program. Considering Xu Qingqing’s status, there’s no need for them to act this way."

"Maybe there’s been a sudden change of heart. Anyway, it’s good news. At the very least it saves money for the station, and your reputation is getting out there."

"You deserve half the credit. I’ll find time to treat you to a Big Treasure Sword," Zhao Jing said.

"Thank you, Director Zhao, I won’t stand on ceremony then."

After wrapping up the business talk, Lin Yi also brought up the matter of sending people to Zhao Jing.

He arranged for Yan Ci Company’s newcomer to be included in the variety show.

Zhao Jing agreed readily; with two programs in hand, accommodating an extra person is not an issue.

After lunch, the two returned to work, and Lin Yi went to find Zhao Yuhuan.

Together they headed to the news center to meet other members of the ’Nearby News’ program.

The new work was about to begin.
