Chapter 4125: Chapter 4113: Gathering in Jing City!
Kidd’s words made Chen Wending’s face change.
Getting burned by Lin Yi before had left a blaze of anger smoldering in Chen Wending’s chest.
So many days had passed, and he’d been waiting for his chance all along.
He’d been secretly plotting for days on end, finally got his opportunity, yet Kidd refused to back his move, even told him to wait for someone else to make the first move.
Chen Wending couldn’t accept that, because this was his battle to wash away humiliation!
And Kidd’s words were more like lighting his powder keg, driving the fire in his chest straight to the peak.
"Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll think about it."
Forcing the anger down, Chen Wending left.
Kidd sat where he was, silently smoking.
When he finished one cigarette, Kidd picked up his phone and dialed a number.
"There’s been some trouble in Northern Ouzhou. I’m planning to head back. Let them handle the Asia-Pacific situation themselves."
"You guys are split on this now?"
"There’s nothing worth saying to these people. If possible, start scouting for a new candidate."
"You think he’s going to have problems too?" the person on the line said:
"Aren’t you rating him a bit too highly?"
"Orsich, how come even you are talking like this? Have you forgotten how Zheng Dongyuan died?" Kidd said:
"Don’t underestimate Lin Yi. He can already fight me to a draw. Why do you still treat him like some little squad leader?"
"I know Lin Yi’s situation very well. But this operation against the Central Guards Brigade is something that has to be done."
"I don’t know why you’re all so obsessed with the Central Guards Brigade, but this place isn’t safe, and I’m not excited about it either," Kidd said:
"Just leave Asia-Pacific affairs to them."
"Fine, come back. I’ll take your place."
"You’re coming here?"
Kidd’s eyes narrowed.
Lin Yi couldn’t see the true state of the world, and neither could Kidd.
The organization’s emphasis on the lower half of the Sheepskin Scroll far exceeded that on the upper half. Even after losing Zheng Dongyuan, they still insisted on doing this, and now even Orsich was coming. Kidd couldn’t figure it out.
"If you stayed, that’d be good news for me." Orsich chuckled. "I hear Yan Country has a kind of rice wine that tastes amazing. I could buy you a drink."
"Save it for after you finish handling Yan Country business, then we can drink."
"You’ve really made up your mind. Even I can’t keep you here. That’s going to break my heart."
"I learned a new word in Yan Country: ’stupid-allergy.’ I’m pretty sure I’ve come down with it. I can’t stand being here for another minute."
"Then I can only wish you a pleasant journey," Orsich said:
"I’ll be arriving in Jing City at dawn tomorrow. I think we should meet. Come welcome me."
"I’m not staying up all night for you."
"You will. Because someone even more interesting might be coming too."
"Who?"
"Mammon’s leader."
"He’s coming to Yan Country? You sure?"
"Not sure. Just guessing," Orsich said:
"Word is, during Mammon’s last mission in Yan Country, he showed up personally. This time he might come as well."
"If he does show, things here will get even messier. Liang Xianghe alone might not be able to keep that kind of situation under control."
"Which is why someone else is coming too."
"Who?"
"Lin Jingzhan."
"He’s coming back too?!"
Kidd’s expression shifted slightly. "Is he also coming for the Sheepskin Scroll?"
"No idea. No one in this world can guess what’s on his mind," Orsich said:
"He left four squads on the island. Now the whole world is speculating whether the Central Guards Brigade got some critical intel. Everyone’s watching to see how the situation develops."
"Is he coming with Song Jinmin?"
"Just him. Maybe Moon as well."
"Even that crazy woman is back."
"That scar she left on you back in the day still aches from time to time, doesn’t it?" Orsich teased:
"If we bump into her again, I’ll help you get your revenge."
"You might not be that crazy woman’s match. Back then I was already out of action, but she still nailed you with a kick. I saw the whole thing."
The two had been old friends for years; any chance they got, they’d put each other down and drag up old black marks.
"I’ll ship your ass to Africa, you bastard!"
Orsich hung up.
Kidd sank into thought.
Before the operation kicked off, he kept wondering whether it was really worth pouring so much effort into the lower half of the Sheepskin Scroll.
At the time, he’d simply thought the goal was to sabotage Yan Country’s plan, stop them from getting the complete Sheepskin Scroll.
Plus the mission was in Corea, so he hadn’t thought that far ahead.
But now the battlefield had shifted to Yan Country, and even with Zheng Dongyuan dead, the organization was still doggedly pursuing this.
And at this juncture, Lin Jingzhan, Orsich, and Mammon’s leader might all be coming. That deepened Kidd’s doubts.
Could it be that what’s recorded in the lower half of the Sheepskin Scroll is different from the upper half?
Staying to watch the fireworks wouldn’t be bad, but as for how things would actually be executed here, he wasn’t planning to get involved...
...
Meanwhile, Chen Wending had gathered his newly transferred men and was laying out a new round of operations.
"The Central Guards Brigade cracked new intel. We move tonight. This time we absolutely cannot fail."
Hearing Chen Wending’s words, his men all looked at each other.
"Boss, that’s the Central Guards Brigade. There’s no way we’re breaking in there."
Everyone present was battle-hardened.
Over the years they’d heard plenty about the Central Guards Brigade.
You might not take the Brigade’s four combat sequences seriously, but their base is not a place just anyone can force their way into.
You could put it this way: whoever goes, dies.
"This mission isn’t a frontal assault. It’s about creating an opening and getting the information."
Their expressions eased a bit. If it was just about creating chaos, the difficulty level dropped sharply.
But their nerves were still taut.
For no other reason than the fact that it was the Central Guards Brigade.
It was known as a forbidden zone for Overseas Organizations. Even to just spark a clash and create confusion, you still had to tread carefully.
"In the Central Guards Brigade, there’s only one unit you really have to watch out for. As long as we suppress them, the mission won’t be that hard."
"We don’t need to suppress them anymore," Chen Wending said:
"He’s already been sent to the island. That intel has been confirmed."
"He actually left!"
Grins spread across their faces. To them, Lin Yi had already become synonymous with Demon Satan!
If he wasn’t around, the difficulty of this mission would nosedive.
"Now everyone get fully ready. Tonight is the best window for the operation!"
"Yes, sir!"
