Chapter 3672: Seven Pillars
Jin Yuelan’s upper lip twitched a little on the side, but he did his best to hold back any emotions from his face.
"You may call me whatever you wish, fellow Daoist. I am simply someone who wishes to have many friends in life."
Ronron didn’t push on it any further. "I am Heavenborn. This is my grandmother, Red—"
"Grandmother?" the man suddenly blurted out in surprise, his eyes turning to Helen.
Helen didn’t look as young when compared to Ronron, but on her own, she didn’t look that old either. After becoming an Immortal, she had become a lot younger physically, which made it somewhat hard to imagine her as having a child, not to mention a grandchild.
"Is something wrong?" Helen asked the young man.
"No, nothing is wrong," the young man quickly said. "I simply didn’t expect it considering how young you look. I would’ve guessed you to be sisters at best."
Helen smiled a little. "Well, thank you for the compliment."
"Yes," the young man said. "Well, it was nice meeting you all. I will take my leave."
Without waiting for anyone, he turned and quickly walked away.
Ronron watched the young man leave before turning around. "He didn’t even care to hear your name at all," she said.
"Understandable," Battlesage said. "He most likely wasn’t expecting to meet a pair of grandmother and granddaughter today, especially if he is what you say he is."
"One hell of a womanizer he is. He didn’t even look at me," Liz said from the side, slightly peeved.
"He might have if he wasn’t told about mother before," Alex said. He turned toward Ronron. "Is he someone well known?"
"Sort of," Ronron said. "His clan is well known. I have only heard about him being mentioned here and there."
"His clan being the Jin family?" Alex asked.
"The Thousand Furnaces Jin Clan is one of the seven great pillars of the Sky God’s Realm," Ronron said.
"Seven great pillars?" Alex asked. "What’s that?"
"The greatest factions aside from the Sky God’s palace. It includes the Jin Clan of the Thousand Furnaces, Luo Clan of Pale Moon Lake, Han Clan of Broken Spear Valley, Fang Clan of Azure Ink City, Violet Mist Sect, Wandering Star Pavilion, and the Hidden Orchid Palace," Ronron explained. "The Jin Clan especially is known for their alchemy flames, and thus includes quite a few good alchemists."
"Alchemists, huh?" Alex said, turning to look at the man with followers behind him. "Is he an alchemist too then?"
"I’m not too sure. The only thing I know about him is how much he likes showing off in front of women. He might have made some name in a local tournament, but I wasn’t allowed to go to that one, so I do not know what he did."
"I see," Alex said. He memorized the gray and green of the man’s robes and ignored him afterward.
From time to time, Ronron pointed him toward various people around there, whom she recognized based on their uniforms more than anything.
One of those was a group of men and women with heads that lacked any sort of hair on the front half, and the latter half tied in a single ponytail. Both the men and the women of this sect prepared themselves that way.
Ronron pointed them out to be people of the Wandering Star Pavilion. They were apparently people who didn’t seek violence on their own and would rather solve things peacefully, but would also fight anyone who asked for it. They were also one of the scariest sects in all of the human realms when it came to strength.
"Apparently, one of their ancestors was a Celestial, and it isn’t clear whether he has passed away or not," Ronron explained.
She also pointed out to them people from the Luo Clan, the Fang Clan, and the Han Clan.
"The Luo Clan is based around a lake in the west called Pale Moon Lake. The Fang Clan is located at a place in the south where the sky is always open with no clouds, making it look like a canvas filled with azure ink. And the Han family is located near Broken Spear Valley, a location where two Spear Sages fought to become the next Spear God. It is named after the one that lost."
Alex was surprised at the last one. "They named a place after the loser?"
Ronron nodded. "It is said that before the duel, the two had made a deal. Whoever lost the battle, the loser would never pick up a spear again. The Spear Sage who lost back then lost so thoroughly that his spear was broken by the end of it, leaving just the shaft."
"Wow," Alex said. "I suppose that is an important enough event to name the place after."
"That’s not all though," Ronron added. "If that was all, then the name may have changed. But there is more."
Alex looked curious.
"What else is there?" he asked.
"The Spear Sage who lost back then, who went by the name Han, then promised to never hold a spear again. But he also claimed that the shaft he held with no tip was no spear, and began using it. Slowly, he got good at using the shaft as it was and developed his own techniques."
Alex narrowed his eyes. "What?"
"He pivoted from a spear to a staff, and while he never got good enough to reach his previous heights, his son ended up becoming the first Staff God. Since then, the Han family has created well-known staffsmen throughout the generations, with each trying to surpass the last one."
Ronron looked far away once she finished explaining.
Alex looked toward the group of Han family juniors in the distance.
"Have they succeeded in producing any good ones in this generation?" he asked.
Ronron shrugged. "I’ve heard a few good names, but I suppose we’ll have to wait and see if they are good enough to become the next Staff God."
