Chapter 3705: A Point

Chapter 3705: A Point

Liz had practiced making pills before. She wasn’t an expert at it, but if she was in a situation that forced her to make pills, she could produce a decent result. Pill clouds were out of the question, but as long as she had made the pill before and knew enough about it, reaching 80% could, in fact, be very much possible for her.

That showed in her subtle actions as she controlled the flames and placed the ingredients in one after another. These were the movements of someone who had definitely made pills before, but hadn’t trained in them enough.

Even if she had made tons of pills before, Tailwind couldn’t imagine how she was going to produce a Divine pill. That was beyond the realm of any normal possibility, to the point where just the thought of it alone had pushed him close to blue.

For a moment, he wondered if that was her plan. It certainly could work if it was.

A person wasn’t allowed to lie when they told a truth about themselves, but the other part of the test was where a person could do anything they wanted in order to surprise him. A person daring to deceive a Divinity wasn’t short of surprising.

The man held a small grin while watching her. The grains of sand spilled away in the hourglass, and Liz continued placing in more ingredients before refining them inside.

Tailwind felt slightly bored halfway through and sat back, leaning on his arm as he watched. Liz continued making the pill for some time longer, placing many more ingredients inside. He narrowed his eyes for a moment and looked at the recipe again.

There were 14 ingredients listed in the recipe, which was about what Liz had already placed into her cauldron. And yet she continued on, placing more and more.

As time passed, Tailwind was certain that Liz had placed in way more than just 14 ingredients, which confused him quite a bit. If this was meant to elicit some other reaction from him, she had entirely failed.

Tailwind simply waited and watched as Liz continued. He wanted to see what her end objective really was with this random pill she was making.

Liz placed another ingredient and looked up at Tailwind. "Do you wish to look inside?" she asked.

Tailwind shrugged at that point. Whatever curiosity he had started with had disappeared by then, leaving him with mild questions at best.

Liz removed the lid, releasing a strange mixture of aromas that the man found hard to place as either good or bad. He looked inside, his eyes narrowing immediately in confusion. He looked back at her.

"What is this?" he asked.

Liz stared with the smallest hint of smugness. "What does it look like, Senior?" she asked.

Tailwind wasn’t sure what to say. Looking inside the cauldron, he was certain it was not a pill.

"It’s just... charcoal at this point. Completely burnt. What did you do?" he asked. "Where is the pill?"

Liz pointed at the rod she had left behind on the couch. "I lied. I was never making a pill. Senior, how could I ever make a Divine pill as an Immortal? That’s impossible, isn’t it?"

The man wasn’t sure what he could say at this point. "Then what were you doing? What’s all this?"

"Just some random saint ingredients I had lying around. I needed to do something, so I decided to use them up. I have no need for Divine pills, so I just burned it all. I probably could have given it away to someone, but I don’t really care about that."

"Okay? So what was the point of all of this?" the man asked.

"There is one," Liz said.

Tailwind looked around, shaking his head. "If there is a point, I fail to see it. All I see is that you’ve wasted your time doing all of this when you could’ve done something else," he said. "If your intention was to get me to be surprised by doing something completely absurd, then I’m afraid you’ve failed."

Liz put away the cauldron and nodded slowly, sitting back on the couch. She took the rod and waited.

"Anything else you can do?" Tailwind asked. "Otherwise, you will have wasted your time here."

"I don’t think I did," Liz said.

Tailwind shook his head again. "I’m very much afraid you did. Unless all of what you did had a point, then you—"

"It obviously had a point," Liz cut him off. "As for the point, I will ask you a very simple question now, Senior. How much time did I waste?"

"Nearly all of your time," Tailwind said, his eyes moving toward the hourglass where the sand was still falling. "You wasted damn near—"

He froze.

Just like the grains of sand inside the hourglass.

No, they weren’t frozen at all. Instead, they were moving so incredibly slowly that they looked as though they had frozen completely.

"What?" the man asked, standing up from his seat to take a closer look at the hourglass.

"Can I get an answer, Senior?" Liz asked. "How much time did I waste?"

"Half a minute?" Tailwind said in disbelief, slowly turning from the hourglass toward Liz. "Was this your doing?"

Liz smiled. "I told you. Everything I did had a point. The point of it all was distraction. Can you tell me how long it has been since I arrived? How much time has passed between now and the moment you flipped that hourglass?"

The man’s eyes went distant as he tried to give her an answer. And yet, nothing below 10 minutes came to his mind at all.

There was no chance he could have spent an entire 10 minutes and not recognized that at all, so how?

He looked toward her. "You can manipulate time?" he asked finally.

Liz smiled and nodded. She lifted the rod before her face and answered him.

"I can."

The crystal glowed a bright violet.
