Chapter 3736: First Challenge

Divine ships no longer took off at all. Alex and the rest could barely fly either, so the only thing they could now do was walk their way across the desert to go where they had to.

Thankfully, it wasn’t long before they found their first targets.

There was a group of 4, 2 men and 2 women, who had noticed them around the same time as well, and instead of running away, they chose to come toward them.

As soon as they arrived, all 4 of their members challenged someone from Alex’s group, while the 3 women challenged 3 of their members.

It was only the stars that seemed to recognize who had challenged whom first.

Ronron’s challenge on one of the women registered, while Liz’s challenge on one of their men registered as well.

On the other side, one of the women’s challenge against Helen had been registered as well.

The other man had also challenged Ronron, which hadn’t been accepted, so the man had to quickly redo his challenge. In his hurry, he chose Alex. He only regretted his choice a second later when he realized that Alex was the strongest out of them all in terms of cultivation.

While everyone else was in the Immortal Origin realm, Alex was in the Immortal Transcendent realm, which was a little too strong for these men.

Alex waited for a moment, watching the women deal with their challenges. There was no way to refuse a challenge unless one wanted to pay 100 stars right away, so everyone could only accept it.

Helen let out a soft sigh and proposed the challenge to be a regular fight. Whoever among them won would get a star.

Helen pulled out her spear and moved to the side as she prepared for a fight.

Liz and Ronron waited for the ones they challenged to accept their challenges as well. In Ronron’s case, the challenge was to see who could move a certain distance the fastest.

In Liz’s case, it was a regular battle again.

Alex turned toward the man who had challenged him and brought out a star before tossing it in his direction.

"I concede."

The man grabbed his star and looked up at him with a strange expression. "Are you sure?"

"You already have the star. What more can I do?" Alex asked.

The man could only nod. He slowly turned toward Battlesage next. "I will challenge you next."

"Sure," Battlesage said. "Do you have any suggestions on what challenge we can take part in?"

The man was taken aback. One gave up out of nowhere despite being stronger, and the other one was giving him the option?

The man looked around. "Just a regular battle?"

"That sounds good," the old man said and walked to the side. "Let us do it then."

Alex looked toward Battlesage for a moment, who was most likely going to keep a distance and fight directly through his Qi alone. He needed training in that as much as anything else, so it was a good opportunity to make use of it.

Alex looked back toward the women as they began their trials.

"Ronron!" he let out a short shout. "Remember the restrictions."

Ronron’s eyes widened. "What? But I’m not fighting."

"Doesn’t matter. No Dao or techniques!" Alex told her.

Ronron could only nod slowly and get back to her preparation.

As someone with the Sky God’s Physique, Ronron was used to fighting with her Wood Dao and Space Daos a lot, which forced her to develop a single fighting style that relied far too much on those aspects. While they made her strong, they also made her overly reliant on Daos and techniques.

Should she ever come across a situation where she was stripped of Dao, such as in the space outside of a regular realm, or in a place where her techniques were suppressed, she would have to rely on just her regular combat capabilities, which was what he intended to teach her.

Alex looked toward his mother next, who held a spear in her hand, ready to fight.

Pearl had taught her how to fight with a spear, but that did not mean she knew how to fight in general.

In her case, since she had absolutely no fighting talent at all, restricting her in any way other than stopping her from using explosive talismans was more than enough. Once she got better at it all, he could finally give her more restrictions to help her learn better, but for now, this was all she needed.

Finally, in the case of Liz, since she was already a decent fighter, all Alex could do for her was give her a similar restriction to what Ronron had at the moment. However, since she also had her sword, Twilight, it was important that she learn how to use it.

She hadn’t even properly learned the basics of using a sword, which was to learn Sword Intent, so she had to start somewhere. As such, Alex was forcing her to use no techniques and only a single sword.

Hopefully, by the end of the secret realm, she would have learned enough to at least use Sword Qi. That much would make her a much better fighter than most people.

Alex watched Ronron’s match first. Since she was only racing to be faster than her opponent, in a regular challenge, she could just teleport to the other side and win. However, since she wasn’t allowed to use any Dao or techniques, she would have to use every fiber of her being to win this.

And given that it was a challenge chosen by her opponent, the woman had to be quite good at it to begin with. Once they dealt with the minor details regarding the conditions, one of them threw a stone into the air as the starter, and the moment it touched the ground, they both shot out like the wind.

Alex kept his senses on Ronron just enough to see that she wasn’t using her Dao or techniques, which he didn’t have to do for long since it was apparent by the result.

Ronron lost.
