Chapter 3804: The Scale’s Property

Alex had homework now.

The Artifact God had given him hundreds of different materials, most of which were some sort of metal, rock, glass, wood, or gem. There were more types of materials, but these were the ones he had to start with.

Each of the materials she provided had a detailed list of explanations on what it did and how it was used.

Since Alex’s canvas was empty, he needed to fill it in with various materials. However, if he only used the technique on the materials, he would understand that it was similar to another material. Never would he truly learn what exactly it was that the material did.

So, he needed some base information he could start from before he could get somewhere.

He started with the metals and read up on them while using the technique to get an understanding of what it was that their aura felt like. Not only that, there was something else within the aura that he needed to learn so that he could ignore it in the future.

"The same metal can have different auras based on whether it has a different property," the Artifact God had said. "Or more accurately, it might be right to say that the aura is what makes up the property. Either way, if the same metal has two properties, the fact that they are the same material will mean that they have the same aura."

"So, if there is a steel with yin aura, and a steel with yang aura, they will be entirely different at a glance. However, in the end, they are still steel, and you need to be able to learn the similarities between metals so that you can understand what part of the aura is the property it holds and what part is just from the metal."

"That way, should you ever come across another unknown metal, you can at least be certain whether it is steel or not before trying to understand the rest of its aura," she said. "As such, one of the important things you will soon learn from this technique is being able to tell which metals are the same and which ones are not. That way, you know which parts of the aura are important to keep in the future and which aren’t."

Alex nodded and continued learning the technique as much as he could. He didn’t stop for a single second and spent the whole week going through all the thousand different ingredients, learning everything in its entirety. Unlike when he learned Alchemy, there wasn’t a bunch of information in his head that came to the forefront whenever he looked at the alchemy ingredients.

Here, Alex had to fully sit down and learn it all.

Even a week later, Alex was far from done, but he had learned a lot already. He was intent on continuing, but the Artifact God stopped him and called him to her.

Alex walked over and stood next to her while she sat before the massive scale, her focus on it for the last seven days.

"Try and check this aura. See what you can learn."

Alex looked at the scale. He hadn’t tried the technique on anything that wasn’t what the Artifact God had given him, so he was excited to see if he had learned anything at all.

He got closer and pressed his hand on the scale.

The moment he used the technique and created a spectrum of spiritual energy that sought for the aura of the scale, he found some matches very quickly.

He wasn’t able to tell much about it, but he was a little surprised that he was able to tell something. In fact, he was able to tell a lot of big things from one sense alone.

His eyes narrowed.

"Such powerful water aura," he said, as that was the thing that stuck out to him.

He had expected the Flood Dragon’s scale to have water aura, but this had some tremendous power that he hadn’t been expecting at all.

Besides the technique, his Dao was aiding him in understanding more about it as well.

Alex focused his attention as something else stuck out to him.

"Unless I’m mistaken... I think this contains the aura of all Water Daos," he said, turning toward the woman. "Is that correct?"

The Artifact God nodded. "That is indeed right. I don’t know how it is possible—I mean, I guess I do know how it’s possible. This thing was a damn Primordial after all, but it is still surprising to sense every single water property I’ve ever sensed before."

Alex nodded.

"Anything more you can tell me?" the woman asked.

Alex shook his head. "I’m not really sure about the rest of the aura," he said.

The woman didn’t push him any further. "One thing that is surprising here is the fact that it doesn’t have any other aura at all," she said.

Alex turned toward her. "What do you mean, Senior?"

"You’ll figure it out very soon, but most auras always do tend to have some other minor aura mixed within them. It’s a negligible amount, but that is what affects its property," she said. "But this scale... it has nothing. It’s completely void of all elements but just the water."

Alex blinked for a moment, looking at the scale again. A curious thought came to him just then as he spoke up.

"Actually, I do understand that," he said. "I may not be good with artifacts, but Alchemy has something similar as well. Common ingredients have all 7 energies at a certain amount. The higher the rank becomes, the fewer types of energy it ends up having. If that trend does continue until the God realm, then even with Cultivators, I suppose it would mean that you end up with just one single element."

The woman looked toward him with curious eyes.

Alex was fascinated by his own words. "Then that means that the Flood Dragon was entirely a Water cultivator."
