Chapter 3809: The Real Sun God
"So, where is the tree?"
Sunflare grew curious. He hadn’t seen it anywhere else, so he had been waiting to ask this for a long time.
"I have it, Senior," Alex answered.
"Have it?" the man asked. "What do you mean, have it?"
Alex didn’t bother explaining. "That is exactly what it means. I have the tree in my Soul Space."
The man didn’t understand. "How can it survive inside of a Soul Space?"
"My Soul Space is of a decent size," Alex answered. "And I have been feeding the tree without stop."
The Celestial’s eyes narrowed all of a sudden, and he turned toward the Sky God. "Is this some sort of joke, Newheaven? Have we been lied to?"
The Sky God quickly shook her head. "No. It is as he says. The Nine Yang Divine Tree is inside of his Soul Space."
"Nonsense!" the man said. "He would not be alive if the tree was inside his Soul Space. It would have burned through him and come out."
The Sky God narrowed her eyes, glancing toward Alex with a look that said that she hadn’t truly given that issue any thought previously, before looking back toward the Celestial.
"Well, that is as good a subject as any to move us to the next part of the discussion," the woman said. "Can you tell me what it is that you worship?"
The man gave an apprehensive look. "What are you asking exactly?"
"Your god," she asked directly this time. "Who is it that you pray to?"
The Celestial gave a harrumph. "Do you even have to ask that? The Nine Yang Court was created for the Nine Yang Divine Tree."
"Yes, it was," the Sky God said. "But that is not who you pray to, is it?"
Alex looked between the two Celestials and realized where the topic was heading.
"I do not understand your point," Sunflare said in the end. "We of the Nine Yang Court pray to the Nine Yang Divine Tree."
"No, you pray to the Sun God, don’t you?" the Sky God asked directly this time.
The man paused for a moment before slowly nodding. "Yes, we do. And the Nine Yang Divine Tree is the incarnation of the Sun God."
"No," the Sky God said before gesturing to Alex. "Your Sun God is sitting right here."
The room fell silent for a long time as all eyes fell on Alex. Alex could feel himself slouching underneath all of the gazes and made a conscious effort to sit straighter as he watched each person back.
The Divinities there were more confused than anything, but the Celestial’s eyes held an understanding that no one else did.
"What is this? More trickery? More jokes?" the man asked. "We have yet to confirm whether the tree exists or not, and now you try to attack our faith?"
"No one is attacking anything," the Sky God said, before turning toward Alex. "Tell them."
Alex nodded. "Seniors, I am the Sun God. I have the Sun God’s physique, and I inherited the power of the Sun God."
The three bald men chose not to say anything and just watched. Their silence was more concerning than their words could ever be.
"It is the truth," the Sky God said. "He is the Sun God. And if you truly do worship the Sun God, you should be welcoming him with open arms."
"We do not," Sunflare said. "The Sun God died a long time ago. And the tree is all that remains of him. This young man may be strong, and he may even consider himself to be one of your gods, but he isn’t our god. He has our god, and we just want it back."
The Sky God’s expression didn’t change. It didn’t look like she had believed any of that would work in the first place. All she did in the end was shrug a little and turn toward Alex.
"Is there anything you can do to prove yourself to them?" she asked.
Alex wasn’t sure what it was that he could do. He could maybe tell them the history of the trees, followed by the Dragon Father, and then the Sun God, but would that help them understand who he was?
"Please, do not insult us, Newheaven," Sunflare said. "For now, we wish to make sure that the tree is safe. Could we ask for proof?"
The Sky God seemed to want to say something, but she sighed. She turned toward Alex. "That’s all up to you now."
Alex nodded. "I can provide proof. I will take one of the Divine realm seniors inside my Soul Space and show them the tree there," he said. "I’m afraid I cannot take you, Senior Sunflare."
The three men stared at Alex with strange looks.
"Once again, I must ask, is this a joke?" Sunflare asked.
"Not a joke," the Sky God said. "Either Noonstar or Daywind may enter his Soul Space and check on the tree inside."
"That will kill him," Sunflare said.
"It won’t," Alex said. "I wouldn’t be the Sun God if I could die to something so simple."
Sunflare scoffed. "Then why don’t you allow me inside your Soul Space too?"
Alex shrugged. "I would, but I own things that I wish to keep private. It will be a lot harder to do if a Celestial were to enter my Soul Space."
Sunflare stared. "And yet you’re confident you can handle one of my juniors?"
"I do not believe I will be able to do anything, Senior," Alex said. "Which is why my master will be following behind to keep watch."
The man blinked. "You really are going to take them all into your Soul Space?" he asked, still in disbelief.
"Of course," Alex said. "Anyway, why don’t we stop wasting time? Which one among you two seniors will be going in?"
The two Divinities looked at each other before the taller one stood.
"I am the weaker one, so I will do it," he said.
Alex nodded. "Please come over then."
