Chapter 3849: First Step Complete

Alex kept an eye on the Artifact God while she moved toward the World Tree, but for the most part, he let her roam the place as she wished. He had no reason to stop her, after all. He did, however, make sure that the World Tree was aware not to interact with her in any way and simply ignore her in all ways.

Shen Yaojia strolled around the area for some time, looking over the World Tree. She asked Alex a few other questions regarding the tree, which he answered. After some time, she found people already cultivating there as well, which took her by surprise.

"You can actually have people cultivate?" she asked.

"So long as they are not a Divinity, it is possible," Alex told her.

The Artifact God seemed impressed, but beyond that, she didn’t say much. She stayed around the World Tree for some time longer before deciding to check the rest of the place. She was interested in learning just how large this place was, as well as visiting all the various landmarks there were.

At the moment, there weren’t many locations inside that could be considered landmarks. There were three large lakes, but that was it. Everything else looked mostly the same.

As the Artifact God wandered away from the central area, the less excited she seemed to be to see everything. Even so, she wanted to visit the edge and see just how large the entire thing was.

Half a day later, she finally arrived at the very edge of the land, where the ground beneath her was covered in more igneous rocks than she had expected.

"Did this all come from a volcanic region?" she asked.

"Actually, it came from a sea of lava," Alex answered. "It’s in one of the beast lands."

"Which one?" she asked curiously.

"The Sun’s Talon realm," Alex answered. "Have you been there before?"

"No. I haven’t been to any of the beast realms at all. I don’t think most humans have," she said as she walked up to the very edge of the realm. She pressed her hand against a spatial barrier that she could not see through. If she could, she would’ve seen the pitch-black nothingness on the outside.

"It’s a decent spatial pocket," she said. "Your understanding of Space must be incredible to place it all inside without breaking it."

"It is," Alex said. "Would you like to return now? Ray is almost done with the scale."

The woman quickly turned back around with a strange expression on her face. "He’s done? How?" she asked. "It’s only been half a day."

"Actually, it’s been over a week already," Alex told her. "You hadn’t realized it, but you’ve wandered into a zone where time moves at a much slower pace than what is normal. While you’ve only spent hours in here, days have passed at the center, where time moves at an incredibly fast speed."

She blinked in surprise. "So what? It’s done?" she asked.

"Nearly," Alex said. "He’s reaching the end, and I was hoping you would be there for the end. To make sure nothing goes wrong."

"Yes, yes," she quickly said. "Which direction is it?"

"Let me take you."

The woman found the world around her twisting for a moment before she arrived next to the fiery bird spirit, with the bronze artifact floating in midair, aura pouring into it and then being poured back onto the scale. She looked down and felt a strange degree of concentration of the Reduction aura coming from the scale.

At the degree it had been applied to the scale, that aura should have been so much stronger and so much more noticeable. However, because it was a very stable aura, it didn’t react with anything around it.

Shen Yaojia watched it all the way through as the last drops of aura produced by the artifact were absorbed by the Flood Dragon’s scale. And when it was done, the artifact deactivated all on its own.

"I think it’s done," Ray said. "The artifact stopped."

"I applied a system to have it deactivate when the energy it produces has nowhere left to go," she said. "You are indeed done."

"Thank you, Ray. You may return," Alex told the bird.

"Please call for me again if you wish to, Master," Ray said before vanishing from the spot.

The Artifact God watched the bird disappear far into the distance and looked up at the sky as if she were looking directly at Alex. "What is he exactly? He feels too strong to be a regular spirit."

"I don’t really know how to answer that question, senior," Alex said honestly.

"You could try telling me the truth," the Artifact God answered.

"Well, that is exactly what I’m trying not to do. But I also don’t want to lie outright, so I don’t know what else to tell you," Alex said again. "Maybe if I’m comfortable in the future, I may answer that question."

The Artifact God narrowed her eyes for a moment longer, but she quickly moved on from the topic. With a Primordial’s scale ready to be turned into something useful, she could not bring herself to be distracted by mere curiosities.

She lifted the scale with her own hand and felt it. While it was still incredibly tough, she got the feeling that whatever she was touching was soft and flexible, like she was sinking her fingers into a large sheet of dough.

The Reduction aura had indeed worked just as she wanted.

"One part is done," she said. "Now, time for the next part. Take me outside."

In a single thought, the Artifact God arrived outside of Alex’s Soul Space. A moment later, the Primordial beast’s scale appeared next to her as well.

The Artifact God set the scale on the ground and then formed her Creation in her hand. A Crystal Hammer. It was the same Creation that also belonged to Steelmind.

And with that, she began working on the very first Primordial artifact that would be made in the current generation.
