Chapter 3880: Soul Cultivation
"You remade your sword and you didn’t even tell me about it?" she asked, her eyes glaring at him. "What if something went wrong? What if you became something like Godslayer?"
"I had the same thought, senior. It was only after I confirmed the circumstances surrounding my master’s demise that I was certain that wouldn’t happen," the Artifact God answered. "Reforging the sword was... safer at that point."
"Safer?" Bladedance caught the implication. "But not fully safe. Did something go wrong? Was that the explosion?"
Alex explained in detail what he had to do to forge the sword. When Bladedance heard that he had to sacrifice the heart of the Three-Legged Crow’s corpse, she sucked in a deep breath.
"The heart of a Primordial is gone?" she asked.
"Yes. And its essence has been completely transformed into this," Alex said, bringing out Nightslayer.
Bladedance looked at the sword with a look of awe. "This is the Godslayer sword?" she asked.
"Yes," Alex answered.
She could hardly believe it. "It’s completely different. I can’t feel a single bit of the aura it used to contain. It’s completely changed now."
"That was what we intended to do from the start," Alex answered.
Bladedance held the sword in her hand, making some swinging motions. She tried to fill it with her Qi, only to be surprised by the difficulty of doing so. "It doesn’t accept my Qi at all. I’ve never seen an artifact do that."
"Strong artifacts know who their master is and generally will not accept anyone else’s Qi," the Artifact God explained. "Though that usually ends up being an exception when it comes to Celestials since they are so strong. The fact that you cannot use your Qi just goes to show us how strong this sword really is. And the spirit hasn’t even evolved yet."
Bladedance turned. "There’s a Nascent Sword Spirit inside this?" she asked.
"Yes," Alex said. "A combination of Midnight and the original spirit of the sword before it became Godslayer."
Bladedance held an expression of awe for quite some time before handing it back to Alex. "Have you tried using the sword yet?"
"Haven’t had the time yet," Alex said. "The explosion happened from Ray’s remnant aura. Not to mention, I’m quite weak right now. I need to recover quickly."
She looked at him and nodded. "You need to cultivate intensely now," she said. "And what about the feathers of the Three-Legged Crow? What artifact are you making from them?"
Alex raised an eyebrow. "How did you know we were making one?" he asked.
"You told everyone out there, didn’t you?" she asked.
"That could’ve been a lie."
The Artifact God quickly shook her head. "I would not dare lie with him around. He’ll see right through me."
"He?" Alex asked. "You mean the man called Truthseer? He’s the Mind God, right?"
Bladedance nodded.
"He can see through lies?" Alex asked. "How?"
"I don’t know how," Bladedance said. "But against anyone weaker than him, he can tell when they’re lying. That’s sort of been his rise to fame. The ability to tell that someone is lying at a single glance, and the fact that he has a very special cultivation method."
Alex grew curious. "Special how?"
"He cultivates his Soul directly, giving him a mental strength close to that of a Celestial," Bladedance explained. "Given that my understanding of his ability is from over 60 thousand years ago, I don’t even know how much stronger he’s become."
Alex frowned greatly. "So out there, he could’ve seen through our lies had I said anything that was untrue?"
"Yes," Bladedance said.
Alex couldn’t begin to imagine what he would’ve done had he not known. He was clearly lying, after all.
"Wait, you didn’t lie out there, did you?" he asked, turning toward the Artifact God.
"I know enough about him to know what to say," the Artifact God said. "It’s easy to lie to him if all you’re doing is telling the truth. That, or you can lie by omission. He can’t catch those."
Alex nodded slowly. "I see. I will keep that in mind if he ever catches me alone."
"I doubt that’ll happen. He has no reason to meet you," Bladedance said. "Just forget about him for now. Focus on what’s important. Are you testing the sword or not?"
"I want to," Alex said. "But I’m worried that I should cultivate first. Regain my Blood Essence, you know."
Bladedance thought for a bit and nodded. "That’s fine too. You might end up aggravating your symptoms if you try anything seriously right now, and without trying seriously, we won’t really know how strong your sword truly is. So cultivating might really be your best option."
Alex smiled. "Though that is also difficult since I don’t have enough materials," he said. "My sister brought back some for me, but apparently there is a drought of resources throughout the Sky God’s realm because the various Gods are overtaking teleportation formations, so the regular supply chain has been disrupted."
"Yeah, that happens every single time," the Artifact God said with a sigh. "Go and recover however much you can. I will make the robe for you in the meantime. When I get close to making it, I’ll call you over. Since there likely won’t be much time before all the other Gods arrive, we might have to Blood Refine the robe for you."
Alex nodded. "Let me know whenever you need me, senior. I’ll come right away."
With that said, Alex left the workshop with Bladedance, quickly heading out of the courtyard. Sunflare followed behind, mentioning just once that he wished to check on the tree. But once Bladedance showed just how weak Alex was, he too understood that Alex likely couldn’t handle him.
As such, he would have to wait a few years.
"5 years," Sunflare said. "I am willing to wait for 5 years. No more."
That was fine with Alex.
Once they were back at Alex’s courtyard, Bladedance left, letting Alex return to his closed cultivation all on his own. Even though he lacked treasures, Alex had to do this no matter what.
