Chapter 3889: The Dao of Purging
With the 5th Immortal Tribulation of his life complete, not counting the one that made him an Immortal, Alex was ready to go back to normal cultivation.
While he didn’t have enough resources, the regular Qi around him could help him cultivate every so often, which he found to be enough for the moment. Between that and the occasional beast cores he planned on eating, there needn’t be much Qi used in the coming days, as his attention was going to be focused mostly on the Dao he was learning.
The Dao of Purging was still a few years away, but with himself renewed, Alex was certain he could push himself to learn it sooner.
Nightslayer sat before him, dull for the moment as no Qi passed through it, revealing its yellow crystalline body with the black patterns near the hilt.
He felt the aura that came off the sword and learned from it to the best of his ability.
The Dao of Purging was the property of Yang aura to remove everything that did not belong through overwhelming, active force. It was not merely destruction, but rather the complete eradication of anything that the Yang Energy identified as an impurity, corruption, instability, or foreign influence.
It could and had already manifested in several different ways.
Physically, it could remove poison, diseases, parasites, and toxins. Spiritually, it could destroy corrupting Energy, curses, foreign spiritual Energy, and even Souls.
The impurity itself was subjective to the cultivator and the Dao, so anything that ended up being considered one could be destroyed by the Dao of Purging, returning it all to neutral Energy.
The Dao of Purging even helped in healing, though not directly. It merely removed everything that was an obstacle.
Alex had always been instinctively familiar with the Dao for a long time, as his body itself constantly used it, but throughout all those years, he never had the chance to sit down and try to understand it. Even when he did, the Dao was strange enough and complicated enough that it still ended up taking him over a decade to fully understand.
Most of that was because of its roots taking hold in the other Yang Daos that he needed to learn from, but after a decade or so, he was finally done.
And when he was done, the Worldly Laws came for him.
Sunflare opened his eyes suddenly, looking toward the sky above. From his perspective, it had been less than a year since Alex had learned the True Water Dao, as well as called two Immortal Tribulations in a row. What he had showcased then had already been incredible, but somehow, in just a year, he was doing it again.
He understood that time flowed differently inside the barrier that surrounded Alex, but it couldn’t have been so quick that he had learned another Dao completely.
The old man wondered what Dao Alex had learned this time around when his face fell at the first signs of the truth.
"A Yang Dao?" he nearly blurted out in surprise.
While the Water Dao wasn’t quite opposite to the Yang Dao, it was still strange to see someone who had so much talent in Water be talented in Yang as well. After all, Water was the closest of the five elements to Yin, which was the direct opposite of Yang.
The fact that Alex had gained the True Water Dao just a year ago should have meant that it was practically impossible for him to learn any Yang Daos. And yet, the truth was right before the old man.
Sunflare’s focus shifted immediately, becoming much sharper than before as he pushed all of his Divine sense into finding out which Dao it was that he was sensing.
To a follower of the Sun God and the Nine Yang Divine Tree, all Yangs were supreme and all Yangs divine. Even so, as the members of the Nine Yang Court did their best to try and learn the Yang Daos, they understood very clearly that some Daos were much stronger than the others, and more importantly, much harder to learn.
To Sunflare, the hardest Yang Dao there was to learn was the Dao of the Sun. However, the Ninth Yang, the Dao of Purging, was very close in difficulty. Even after hundreds of thousands of years of attempting to learn the Yang Daos, he had only ever managed to learn two in total.
So, when he sensed the Dao of Purging swirling inside the Worldly Laws that prepared to come down, he couldn’t believe his own senses. How could it be possible that someone there was actually learning a Yang Dao so easily?
The tiniest grain of doubt that had existed in his heart for a long time grew in size, though it was still very small.
’Could he be telling the truth?’ the old man wondered, and tiny as his doubt still was, it was still enough.
Deep down, he had begun to believe that just maybe Alex was the Sun God.
As the Worldly Laws became stronger, the Dao became obvious to those who could sense it. While many weren’t able to determine the exact Yang Dao, everyone was stunned to find someone learning one to begin with. It was a rare occasion, after all.
On the outskirts of the Sky God’s palace, atop the teleportation formation, a group of newly arrived individuals stood.
Among them were three Celestials and two Divinities, each one a God.
The moment they arrived, they all looked toward the sky, following their senses into the Worldly Laws. Among them, the red-haired Celestial let out a faint smile that held no mirth at all.
"So it really is true that there is someone who wishes to drink from the same cup as me. It is quite courageous of him to reveal where he is," the man said with a light snort. "And here I was worried he would have run away by now."
The Fire God had arrived at the Sky God’s palace.
