Chapter 3175: Swarm Of Truevils
Date: Unspecified
Time: Unspecified
Location: Myriad Realms, Realm Of True Evil, Shell Island
The Truevil swarm heading in our direction immediately sensed Cloud Prowler’s arrival in the cloud above, and many of them jumped out of the lava into the air like a swarm of flying fish. Most of them clashed with each other and fell back into the lava atop their fellow Truevils, disrupting their advance.
Soon, the whole swarm began to circle under the cloud the Cloud Prowler was hiding in in unison like a school of shark circling its prey, while those still in the air and reaching the cloud opened their beaks wide, ready to catch it.
Meanwhile, Cloud Prowler was still waiting to be teleported to the different clouds but the Truevils were simply faster.
Since Cloud Prowler was a Calamity Daughter Gem, I wasn’t worried about it getting hurt. As long as its core remained intact and within the cloud, it would soon teleport to another cloud where it could reconstruct its body whole again.
But just as the Truevils were about to bite into the massive frame of the Cloud Prowler, something totally out of our expectations transpired.
The Truevils, whose beaks were a few inches away from taking a huge chunk of the cloud, maneuvered their bodies mid-air, closing their beaks, and began to free-fall to the lava, while the swarm below them stopped circling and continued in our direction.
I stared at the scene, stunned. I hadn’t seen anything like this. Were they trying to scare Cloud Prowler?
No, it did look like that. It looked like when your manager orders a pizza for the team as a surprise, you eagerly reach for a piece, racing your colleagues, but then notice that all of them are veggie pizzas, and turn around, saying you’re on a diet or some other shit excuse you can think of on your feet.
Yep, they disdained eating Cloud Prowler. Or so, I thought.
I had Cloud Prowler stay as close to the swimming swarm as possible and figured out how they were able to maintain such harmony. Were they being led by a leader or something?
That’s impossible as the Truevils don’t have leaders. Not even when they all gathered to fight the Mulias Royal Family’s invasion.
That was one of the main reasons why the Truevils were so primitive. No leader was ever born among them to lead them to a new age. They were a bunch of loose rocks in a bag, doing their own things, and there was always friction between them. Sometimes, tough rocks broke the brittle ones. And what remained was a bunch of loose but tough rocks in a bag.
What I was trying to say was that the Truevil’s culture was such that every living Truevil was an undefeated Truevil except for the dead, pregnant, or newborns. As such, even if a leader was born among them, the sheep were all dead, leaving them no one to lead or rule over. Everyone was a leader in their own way until they died.
That was because Truevils don’t give up or admit defeat. Their inexhaustible bodies simply built them that way. Hence, the only defeated Truevil was a dead one. Scar and her Macro Samsara array was an prime example of this.
Right now, what I was seeing was a crowd of leaders, undefeated rulers, coming together and working together toward a goal, and unfortunately for me, I was in their way. Thinking of the divinations I did before coming here, I wondered if I had overstayed my stay here and was now stuck with a karmic bill.
Cloud Prowler maneuvered its cloud shell and flew a foot above the swimming Truevils, avoiding the occasional splash of lava, after seeing that no matter how close it got to them. They didn’t attack it. Instead, they completely ignored it.
I looked at Scar next to me and asked, "Do you want to give it a try? You don’t have to. We can always leave using the Demon Merchant Code."
"I will be right back." Saying that, Scar warned the hatchlings to behave and flew over toward the swarm instead of swimming like every other Truevil preferred. It’s not that they can’t fly; it’s just that they prefer swimming through lava.
Soon, she met the swarm of Truevils in the middle, which was surprising because this time, the Truevils stopped a few hundred yards from Scar.
Their bodies submerged in the lava and their heads sticking out, they all collectively looked at Scar unblinkingly. The Cloud Prowler hovered above them before rushing to Scar’s side like an excited dog. But then Scar shot it a look, warning it not to disturb her while she was trying to figure out what the heck was going on.
The Cloud Prowler instantly rolled around in the cloud, showing its belly to her in complete submission, and just then, a group of prompts sounded in my mind.
[Your cursed primordial bloodline has deemed the Cloud Prowler primordial Calamity Daughter Gem worthy to inherit it.]
[Your Cloud Prowler primordial Calamity Daughter Gem has inherited your cursed primordial bloodline.
Bloodline Purity: 98%]
[Your Cloud Prowler primordial Calamity Daughter Gem’s authority tier has increased.
Partner-Tier >>> Bloodkin-Tier.]
Listening to the prompts, my eyes widened, surprised that even this worked. But then, in terms of natural hierarchy, the Cloud Prowler to the Truevil seemed to be the same as dogs or cats were to humans. Its intelligence level had long had me believing this, and now it proved it.
However, then something amazing happened: the swarm of Truevils who were staring at Scar unblinkingly were now also staring at the Cloud Prowler unblinkingly.
Soon, half of the swarm was staring at Scar while the other half was staring at the Cloud Prowler.
’Master, the swarm appears to be trying to communicate with us. But I can’t understand them. All I hear is a noise.’
I soon received a mental report from the front lines, and to my surprise, it wasn’t Scar but my newly promoted Bloodkin, Cloud Prowler.
However, neither Hive Spirit nor Scar seemed to hear any noise. So, I decided to head there myself.
Leaving Maworm to protect the Truevil Hatchlings, I rushed to Scar’s side.
