Chapter 2803: A Tiny Branch

Chapter 2803: Chapter 2803: A Tiny Branch

They were testing the accelerated growth rate of a rare, vibrant plant specimen.

’Bo Ya, immediately perform a deep scan on this area,’ Yu Qi instructed mentally.

’Got it, Master.’ Bo Ya responded instantly from within the space.

Just as she gave the command, Xiaohua suddenly reached out and tugged softly on Yu Qi’s sleeve.

Yu Qi looked down at the little girl.

"Xiaohua, what’s wrong?" Yu Qi asked in a quiet murmur.

"Master, that plant over there... it has my aura." Xiaohua whispered back, her eyes fixed on the specimen behind the glass.

"Your aura?" Yu Qi asked in surprise.

"Mhm... It is probably just a small twig I broke off and tossed away a very long time ago. Maybe a thousand years back." Xiaohua explained thoughtfully, tilting her head.

"Really? Was this before you entered the Miracle Space?" Yu Qi inquired softly.

"It had to be before I entered the Miracle Space." Xiaohua stated with conviction. "Otherwise, there is no way anyone outside could have picked up my discarded branch to run experiments on it."

"Do you want to retrieve it?" Yu Qi offered quietly.

"No need... but I am going to take my aura back. Once I pull my energy out, that plant will become completely useless to them anyway." Xiaohua said, a mischievous glimmer flashing in her eyes.

"How do you plan to do that right now?" Yu Qi asked, her vigilance spiking as she surveyed the surrounding crowd and the guide.

"Master, you don’t need to do a thing. Just leave it all to me." Xiaohua declared with utmost confidence.

Xiaohua stepped a little closer to the thick glass window, staring intently at the vibrant plant inside the experimental room. To everyone else in the tour group, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. However, Yu Qi, Long Hui, and Xiaoliu could clearly perceive a subtle phenomenon unfolding right before their eyes, something invisible to ordinary mortals. A faint, glowing stream of energy detached itself from the plant, slipping effortlessly through the reinforced glass like a wisp of light before flying directly toward Xiaohua and sinking smoothly into her body.

"My dear, please don’t touch the glass." Deng Chen gently reminded Xiaohua, turning around with an apologetic smile.

Xiaohua immediately spun around, flashing an innocent, radiant grin at the guide.

"I know, Uncle Deng! I would not touch anything." Xiaohua replied sweetly.

With a light skip, she turned back and scurried right back to Yu Qi’s side.

"All done," Xiaohua whispered softly, her eyes twinkling with satisfaction.

"Hmm... I saw it." Yu Qi nodded approvingly, keeping her voice low.

Just at that moment, an abrupt wave of commotion erupted behind the glass window. Every single researcher stationed inside the room suddenly bolted from their desks, looking around in sudden panic and rushing toward the plant. Xiaohua knew precisely why they were in such a frantic state.

The rare specimen inside the enclosure had suddenly begun to wither and shrivel at an impossible speed.

The researchers hurriedly scrambled to grab watering cans and nutrient bottles, but their frantic efforts were entirely useless. The leaves continued to curl and droop severely, and the plant rapidly drained of all its vitality within a matter of seconds.

"Mr Deng, what on earth is going on in there?" One of the student group members asked curiously, pointing at the chaotic scene through the glass.

"Ah, well... sometimes things like that happen during unexpected biological fluctuations. It is quite normal." Deng Chen chuckled awkwardly, trying to wave it off.

Since he had no clearance or personal involvement in the experimental protocols, he did not think too much of it. From his perspective as a guide, it was entirely plausible for an experiment to occasionally suffer a sudden failure.

"Well, let’s keep moving along to the next exhibition room." Deng Chen suggested briskly.

Remembering the strict rules they had agreed to, the visitors quickly dropped the subject and followed Deng Chen down the corridor without asking any further questions.

They soon stepped into another chamber. It was structured similarly to the first, featuring a massive observation window that allowed visitors to peer directly into the laboratory where researchers were actively conducting tests.

"What kind of experiment are they running in this section?" One of the women from the family groups asked, leaning closer to the glass.

Deng Chen tapped a few times on his handheld tablet, quickly scanning the digital guide notes.

"This particular project focuses on genetic de-extinction, specifically, trying to revive a species of animal that has long vanished from the earth." Deng Chen stated.

"What kind of animal are they attempting to bring back?" One of the children asked with wide-eyed fascination.

"A great auk." Deng Chen answered proudly. "It was a large flightless bird native to the North Atlantic that unfortunately went extinct back in 1844. Our scientists managed to extract well-preserved DNA samples from specimens frozen deep in the Arctic ice, and we have been running continuous cloning experiments in an attempt to hatch a living specimen."

"That’s incredible... You can actually bring an extinct animal back to life?" one of the young men chimed in, looking thoroughly amazed.

"We are certainly trying our best, though the research is still very much in progress." Deng Chen stated professionally.

"If you don’t mind me asking, how much money does a project like this cost?" The father from one of the visiting families inquired, sounding genuinely astounded.

"Oh, a single comprehensive trial can run anywhere from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. In fact, one of our most successful biochemical breakthroughs last year cost upwards of three million in total funding alone." Deng Chen explained casually.

"Wow... that is insanely expensive." One of the students exclaimed under their breath.
