Chapter 2831: Know The Soul Search Method

Chapter 2831: Chapter 2831: Know The Soul Search Method

Not to mention, this girl even seemed to retain full, clear memories of her past life.

Master Liang had read ancient records detailing her legendary feats in the cultivation world, creating a space that many cultivators imagined to have. He had never imagined in his wildest nightmares that she would appear right in front of him again thousands of years later.

What Master Liang would never know was that Yu Qi’s soul had been guarded and preserved by Sere all along.

When her body exploded millennia ago, her soul had indeed been shattered into countless fragments, but Sere had intervened to protect those fragile pieces. The scattered soul fragments were continuously gathered, shielded, and eventually guided into the reincarnation cycle together.

Those soul fragments managed to locate one another over time, finally reuniting after reincarnation to form Yu Qi in her present life. That was the sole reason Yu Qi had been able to retain the vivid memories of her previous incarnation.

"Well, we have plenty of effective methods to make you spill all the tea." Yu Qi said playfully, breaking his train of thought.

"I will not tell you a single thing." Master Liang growled through gritted teeth.

Since he was likely going to die anyway, he vowed never to hand them any valuable information. He had already prepared his mind for the absolute worst-case scenario.

"Oh? Is that an attempt at a threat?" Yu Qi narrowed her eyes slightly.

"I don’t care what you choose to call it. Do whatever you want to me." Master Liang sneered.

Master Liang truly did not care about anything anymore. He convinced himself that he had nothing left to lose. Even if they tortured and executed him, he would rather die with his mouth shut than reveal the inner workings of the MicroTech Organisation.

More importantly, he harboured the arrogant belief that they possessed no means to forcibly extract the information from his mind. As long as he stubbornly refused to speak, they would remain completely helpless.

"Do you truly believe we can’t force the information out of you?" Yu Qi asked smoothly.

"You can go ahead and try! Unless you can use the Soul Search Method, you would not get a thing out of me!" Master Liang spat back defiantly.

"Well, as a matter of fact, we can use the Soul Search Method." Yu Qi replied with a calm smile.

"What?!" Master Liang gasped, his jaw dropping.

His defiant expression shattered instantly. He had never expected Yu Qi to bring up the forbidden Soul Search Method so casually, as if it were a common everyday tool. He was thoroughly shaken.

It was an ancient, taboo technique designed to probe directly into a person’s consciousness and pull memories straight out of their soul. Hardly any modern cultivators practised the technique anymore because it was notoriously difficult to master and could easily fry the victim’s mind or shatter their soul if performed with even the slightest error.

Master Liang immediately suspected that Qin Xia was the mastermind who had taught these two younger cultivators the forbidden secret. He was the ancient Ancestor, after all. Not to mention, Qin Xia had lived for thousands of years and possessed an unfathomable library of cultivation techniques, along with the vast spiritual reserves required to execute such a taxing spell safely.

However, there was still one glaring detail that Master Liang could not wrap his head around. Why would the esteemed Ancestor ever allow Yu Qi to rely on such a hazardous, volatile method?

Master Liang darted a tense glance over at Qin Xia.

Qin Xia remained utterly unbothered, standing with his arms crossed in comfortable silence. He did not look the least bit surprised by Yu Qi’s declaration. That quiet composure caused Master Liang’s heart to sink straight to the bottom of his stomach.

It was crystal clear that they had discussed this contingency long before stepping foot into the facility. They had not just stumbled upon him by chance. They had come fully prepared for every single scenario.

"Don’t bother looking at Senior Brother Xia." Yu Qi said smoothly, noticing where his panicked gaze was landing. "He is not the one who will be performing the Soul Search Method on you."

Master Liang’s eyes narrowed sharply. "Then who?!"

Yu Qi’s smile widened into something bright and terrifying while pointing her finger at Long Hui. "He will."

Master Liang’s face instantly turned an unsightly shade of pale green. He whipped his head around to stare at Long Hui.

Long Hui met his gaze with an expression that remained completely cold, distant, and unreadable.

In that horrifying moment, Master Liang realized he had committed yet another fatal miscalculation. He had foolishly underestimated these three people all over again. He had operated under the assumption that Qin Xia was the only dangerous variable in the room. But now, it was becoming terrifyingly obvious that Yu Qi and Long Hui were vastly more powerful and ruthless than he had ever bargained for.

"Since you are well-acquainted with the Soul Search Method, you should also be fully aware that we don’t need your cooperation or permission to use it on you." Yu Qi reminded him softly.

Master Liang clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white. He remained completely silent, unable to muster a rebuttal. For the very first time since their encounter began, a seed of doubt sprouted in his mind, making him wonder whether stubbornly refusing to cooperate was actually the right choice after all.

However, he quickly clamped down on that rising panic and suppressed the thought.

He couldn’t afford to break now.

If he revealed everything he knew, someone in the organisation would ensure he suffered a fate worse than death.
