Chapter 2424: The Crown Prince's Empire

Chapter 2424: The Crown Prince’s Empire

There was no one present in the court who had any allegiance to the late Crown Prince.

While the previous Crown Prince did have his loyal confidants, the Fourth Prince, once he ascended to the throne, ensured that those loyal to his predecessor were removed. Over the years, they had been either dismissed, demoted, or exiled, leaving no supporters of the former Crown Prince in the imperial court today.

As a result, no amount of crying from the former Princess Consort would garner sympathy.

No one would come to her aid. They were neither familiar with her nor loyal to the former Crown Prince. Why would they risk their own positions to help her?

And it wasn’t as though the former Princess Consort was known for her virtue or talent—there was little reason for anyone to support her.

The courtiers watched the scene in silence, their expressions unmoved. The grand hall echoed with the harsh, abrupt sound of her and the little imperial grandson’s cries, but it stirred no empathy among the onlookers.

The emptiness of the grand hall amplified the sound of the cries, creating an echo that was particularly piercing and uncomfortable.

Even the slowest observer would have realized by now that she was alone in this struggle.

The Princess Consort gritted her teeth and cursed inwardly. “You beasts in human clothing! Hypocrites with your sanctimonious airs! You’re all wicked!”

Realizing that her tears were in vain, she stopped crying and glared at Shao Yunduan with bloodshot eyes. “Shao Yunduan, get off the throne!”

She pointed to her grandson, whose tear-streaked face was wrinkled from his sobs. “This is the Crown Prince’s biological grandson! He is also your master! Look, this is your Emperor! Look at him!”

“All of you, kneel and greet your master!”

Shao Yunduan’s eyes flickered with a hint of derision. The former Princess Consort was as foolish as ever, attempting to coerce the ministers with her words. Her efforts would only backfire.

None of these ministers had ever served the late Crown Prince. In fact, some had been opposed to him. Her demand for them to recognize the late Crown Prince’s grandson as their master was absurd.

To Shao Yunduan, it was a minor victory. It was better for everyone to be embarrassed than for him to be singled out.

Although he remained unfazed, he knew they would think he was uncomfortable. In truth, the Princess Consort had sensed the folly of her actions as soon as she made the demand.

She must have made another blunder, saying something wrong and acting foolishly!

No one responded to her, let alone listened. It felt as though she was performing a one-person show, her actions met with silence. The embarrassment and shame were overwhelming!

Her heart burned with anger. The little imperial grandson was clearly the Crown Prince’s biological son—why were these people so ungrateful and selfish?

How could they betray Great Qin?

They were all subjects of Great Qin!

Despite her mounting frustration and numerous questions, the Princess Consort forced herself to focus on Shao Yunduan. “Shao Yunduan, are you deaf or mute? Or are you so ashamed that you have nothing to say? Get down from the throne! Get down!”

“If you’re finished, I’ll have something to say. If not, please continue.”

The Princess Consort’s anger flared once more as she screamed, “You call yourself Emperor? How dare you! How dare you!”
