Chapter 1673: Chapter 1670: Attitude
“Everything she does is straightforward, whether she likes someone or dislikes someone.”
“Anyway, there is no major conflict between her and me; it’s just a difference in personality. She can do whatever she wants; it won’t affect me or the family,” Chu Ziluo explained.
“Hmm, if you don’t feel well, don’t push yourself. Li Chun’er, that girl, is indeed a bit careless. I don’t fear her scheming against you, just that others might use her. You handle things with discretion, so Mother is at ease.”
“Hmm, Mother, don’t worry. I will be fine.” Chu Ziluo was actually quite scared at the time; the feeling of weightlessness and the unknown fear made her mind go blank, unable to think or know what to do.
She understood that if she really fell, it would surely cause an incident, and the most heartbroken would definitely be her family.
Her parents protected her well, especially after coming to the capital and meeting these officials’ daughters; she realized how good the atmosphere at home was, without intrigue and even pure family affection wasn’t guaranteed.
Ye Muyu reached out and playfully flicked her forehead, smiling helplessly but didn’t push her away.
Rongguo Manor.
Lady Li returned home with Li Chun’er.
She had just entered her chamber in the rear courtyard and hadn’t even had a chance to breathe when a maidservant came to inform her that the Old Madam was asking for her.
Lady Li dressed again and got up to go to Old Madame Li’s courtyard.
She arrived quickly, and entering, only saw Old Madame Li sitting at the head, seemingly not having called anyone else.
She breathed a slight sigh of relief.
But before she could fully relax, she heard Old Madame Li say, “Have some tea and rest for a while, the second daughter-in-law and third daughter-in-law are coming over.”
Upon hearing this, Lady Li lost her appetite for tea and asked directly, “Mother, is there something you want to say?”
“No rush.” Old Madame Li sat serenely at the head, not appearing ready to reveal anything now.
Lady Li could only be patient and silently wait.
Thankfully, the two madams arrived soon, which was expected as Old Madame Li had informed them after knowing Lady Li was back, and Lady Li’s place was the closest, hence the quickest to arrive.
Soon, the two madams walked in, one wearing green satin and the other dark red satin.
“Mother.” Madam Hu greeted the Old Madam with a smile.
The Third Madam, however, was quietly reserved.
Once Old Madame Li gestured for them to sit, they quietly seated themselves nearby.
“Mother, whatever’s the matter, can you say it now?” Lady Li’s mood was not great and she asked directly, wanting to finish this conversation and go back to rest.
Old Madame Li finally lifted her eyelids, “You went to the Chu family today, how did they respond?”
“I delivered the thank-you gifts and expressed our gratitude. They accepted them, and I returned.” Lady Li pursed her lips, thinking back to Ye Muyu’s decisive refusal previously, making her feel like she was being overly sentimental, the more she thought about it, the more annoyed she felt.
Old Madame Li snorted, “I asked you to visit to establish good relations with the Chu family. Did you not follow what I said again?”
Being reprimanded in front of her two sisters-in-law, Lady Li felt her dignity was dented, and her voice became a bit stern, “Mother, how can you say that? From beginning to end, I showed an expression of gratitude, wasn’t that exactly your instruction?”
Old Madame Li smirked slightly, “Oh, really? So you didn’t probe them in person?”
