Chapter 2440: Chapter 2449: The Afternoon’s Perilous Ordeal
He clenched his lips tightly, his eyes still holding the remnants of the shock from the afternoon’s car chase.
At first, he noticed a car tailing them.
Uncle Harris initially thought it was a person secretly hired by the Dubious Man next door to protect him. But as they drove, the car suddenly rammed into them. Uncle Harris made a risky dodge, and they realized it wasn’t someone from the Dubious Man.
After a series of thrilling car chase battles, he first discovered that the pursuers were tracking them through the car’s GPS. He decisively sabotaged the car’s GPS. Then he turned off both his and Uncle Harris’s phones, instructing Uncle Harris to drive towards crowded places, the City Center.
Who would have thought that the pursuers were relentless? They drove past the City Center, circled around, and when they hit the highway on the outskirts, the pursuers started firing recklessly at them.
The car’s glass shattered, and Uncle Harris’s arm got injured.
Afterwards, to dodge the bullets coming from behind, the car swerved erratically, resulting in his knee getting scraped.
They fought hard, using cunning and wisdom to shake off the pursuers, and then Uncle Harris took him to abandon the car and find a safe motel to hide for a while.
Soon after, Hayes found them.
He was taken back to the WE Hotel, where he met the Dubious Man next door.
Bobby is only ten years old; saying he’s not scared would be a lie. No matter how formidable he usually is, it’s only online or at School.
He grew up in a different environment compared to Baron Lawrence.
Bobby never received the kind of education from the Lawrence Family.
Before he turned six, he lived with Enna Clark, and they led the life of ordinary citizens. In their lives, such things as car chases or shootings never existed, and he never thought he would encounter such a thing.
Not breaking down crying like an average ten-year-old child is already considered calm and composed.
Even so, he was still terrified by things he had never experienced.
Yet amid the shock, his biggest concern was Enna Clark. He feared that if his woman knew, she would be more scared than him and would cry.
Compared to the danger encountered in the afternoon, he feared his woman’s tears more.
That’s why he didn’t want Baron Lawrence to tell Enna Clark about his situation.
Baron Lawrence tied a bow around his knee, tugged his ripped trouser leg down, and calmly said, "All done."
"Oh." Bobby had just started to calm down and realized the pain.
The alcohol on his knee stung the scraped skin painfully, but out of pride, he wasn’t willing to show it in front of Baron Lawrence, holding back the pain while still reminding Baron Lawrence, "Don’t tell my woman about my situation; I don’t want her to worry."
"If you’re worried about her, don’t run around next time." Baron Lawrence’s words were blunt, but he tossed his phone to him, saying, "You didn’t go back, and Enna Clark couldn’t reach you. She’s probably still awake now. Call her back so she won’t be up all night worrying. I’ll get someone to bring you a new set of clothes."
Bobby watched him stand up, his tall figure exuding an immense sense of security. The unease in his heart lessened significantly, and he felt less frightened. Relaxing a bit, he wanted to criticize Baron Lawrence’s low emotional intelligence. Obviously, he cared but still acted all harsh. But he glanced at the medicine box on the coffee table, pressed his lips together, picked up the phone, and hobbled over to the side to call Enna Clark.
