My CEO Husband Has Some Issues

Chapter 1507: 1508: A Strange Phone Number

Chapter 1507: Chapter 1508: A Strange Phone Number

“Fu Yi, how’s it going? Did you find out who owns that car?” Cui Jiangjing hadn’t even walked over when his voice arrived first.

Fu Yi was dressed casually today, at a glance looking like a fresh-out-of-college student. The pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose gave him an air of a refined rogue. He pushed the frames up with his slender fingers and nodded a few words to the person speaking beside him. That person glanced curiously toward Cui Jiangjing, nodded, and walked away first.

Only then did Fu Yi turn around, rubbing his throbbing temples as he said helplessly, “Didn’t I tell you not to call me that in public?”

Cui Jiangjing had already slung an arm over his shoulder, grinning cheekily. “Haha, come on, it’s not like I called you ‘Number Two.’ Relax, no one will think too much of it.”

Fu Yi shoved his arm away in disgust, his narrow eyes hidden behind the non-prescription gold glasses filled with danger. “Try saying it once, I dare you.”

Cui Jiangjing felt goosebumps rise all over as he watched Fu Yi’s faintly smirking, crimson lips curve in a way that was neither fully smiling nor sneering. He quickly put distance between them, crossing his arms and rubbing them. “Don’t look at me like that, damn it! It makes my scalp crawl—feels like your habit of creeping people out is acting up again!”

“When did I ever have a habit of creeping people out?” Fu Yi shot him a glance and pushed his glasses up again.

He seemed particularly fond of this gesture, as if it had become a habitual tic.

Cui Jiangjing decided to stop bothering with idle chatter and cut straight to the point. “So, did you find out who owns the car that took Little Yan Rong?”

“I did,” Fu Yi said, dropping the smile as he got serious. “It’s more complicated than I expected. The car’s been scrapped; the owner sold it off for junk long ago. The guy who bought it works in waste collection, occasionally coming around to pick up old appliances. The neighbors don’t know who he is, his name, or where he lives. It’ll take time to dig further.”

“Damn it! This is insane!” Cui Jiangjing couldn’t hold back the curse.

“Nothing we can do. I didn’t anticipate it would be this convoluted either.”

Li Shengxiao’s brows knitted tightly together, his mood inexplicably turning foul.

Just then, his phone rang.

Cui Jiangjing heard it. “Shengxiao, is that your phone ringing?”

Li Shengxiao’s eyes glinted with cold fury as he pulled out his phone with a menacing air. He glanced at the screen but didn’t answer right away.

“Why aren’t you picking up?”

He pressed his thin lips together. “Unknown number.”

Cui Jiangjing instantly snapped to attention, his alert level rising. “Could it be a ransom call? That phone is your personal number, right? Apart from the few of us, only Little Yan Rong knows it. Unless she told someone else, how could there be a stranger calling you? Hold on, I’ll write the number down and send it to Gu Linxi to trace the location.”

Li Shengxiao held the phone out to him, and he quickly jotted it down and forwarded it to Gu Linxi. Then he turned to Fu Yi. “Fu Yi, you check where this number’s registered as well. Two heads are better than one.”

“Send it to me.”

The phone kept ringing relentlessly as Li Shengxiao lowered his gaze, his eyes dark and glinting. He pressed the record button, then brought the phone to his ear. His razor-sharp lips carved out an icy response, “Hello.”

“Phew…” The sound of a long exhale came first from the other end of the line, followed immediately by Rong Yan’s voice. “Thank goodness, you finally picked up. I was starting to think the phone wasn’t near you and wondering how to get in touch.”
