Chapter 2201 - 2245: Rebellious to the Bone

Chapter 2201: Chapter 2245: Rebellious to the Bone

However, the sea of books was like a towering cliff, and finding the needed texts would be next to impossible. He needed to gather some manpower to help look through them. Conveniently, Rebellious Guy and Hua Xin were in the Space Mirror. Oh, right, and that damn dead dog!

Thinking of the dead dog, Jiang Fan chuckled. He put his mask back on and said, "Qingxian, don’t make a sound. I’m going to test this dead dog."

Liu Qingxian blinked, not understanding what Jiang Fan was up to, but she nodded cooperatively.

Jiang Fan unfastened a pouch from his waist. After he opened it, a cloud of black smoke drifted out and landed on the ground, transforming into a Big Black Dog gnawing on a bone. Noticing the change in its surroundings, its doggy eyes lit up, and it SWISHED to its feet. Turning its head, it realized that only the old man and Liu Qingxian were present. The fox sisters were nowhere to be found. It immediately stood up on its hind legs, put its paws on its hips, and laughed up at the sky.

"BWAHAHAHA, Dog Lord is finally free!

"Jiang Fan, you piece of trash! Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis, you bastard! Snow Maiden, you damn bitch!

"The three of you better remember this Dog Lord! Sooner or later, I will capture all three of you and make you my Spiritual Pets!"

The veins on Jiang Fan’s forehead throbbed. He couldn’t believe this guy actually wanted to capture him to be a Human Pet. Moreover, he wondered if this dead dog had fallen into the hands of Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis and then successfully escaped. It seemed this dead dog still had some life-saving treasures hidden on it! His previous looting hadn’t been thorough enough!

Stroking his beard, Jiang Fan asked, "What do you plan to do next?"

The Big Black Dog glared at Jiang Fan with ill intent. Exuding the aura of the Two Calamities Realm, it asked fiercely, "Old man, where is Jiang Fan?"

Jiang Fan replied, "Why do you ask?"

"If he’s still alive, I’ll capture him and make him my Human Pet!" the Big Black Dog said viciously.

"If he’s dead, I will rightfully inherit his billions in family fortune!

"Speak! Where is he? Otherwise, Dog Lord will bite you to death!"

If this dead dog weighed a hundred pounds, ninety-nine pounds of it would be rebellious bones. The remaining one pound would be a heart bent on treason. Jiang Fan pointed to Liu Qingxian beside him and said, "This is Jiang Fan’s wife. What do you plan to do with her?"

The Big Black Dog glanced at Liu Qingxian and snorted, "Every grievance has its source, and every debt has its debtor. My beef with Jiang Fan doesn’t involve anyone else.

"Also, you old geezer better not have touched her.

"She is still half a young mistress to me. If you bully her, I won’t just sit back and pretend I didn’t see it!"

It had stood up to Jian Wuchou in the same way at the trade fair previously. A hint of a smile appeared on Jiang Fan’s face. This dead dog wasn’t entirely without redeeming qualities.

The Big Black Dog grew impatient. "Alright, enough nonsense! Tell me, where is Jiang Fan!

"I can’t wait to inherit his fortune!"

Jiang Fan replied, "You won’t be able to inherit his fortune. However, I think I need to do another inventory of your fortune!"

With that, he tore off the mask on his face, revealing his true appearance. He chuckled. "Dead dog, we meet again."

The Big Black Dog froze, wondering why his voice suddenly sounded so familiar. Looking closely, a nightmarish young face reflected in its doggy eyes. It wondered, "Was the wretched old man Jiang Fan himself? Isn’t he... isn’t he just scamming a dog?"

The Big Black Dog raised its paw and viciously slapped itself. It hurt a lot; this wasn’t a dream. Its vision went dark, and it fell stiffly to the ground with a THUD.

It wailed inwardly, "If I have sinned, let the Heavens strike me dead with lightning, rather than letting me fall into the hands of this Demon again!"

Jiang Fan kicked its belly and said, "Lying there like that won’t help you inherit my billions in family fortune."

The Big Black Dog jolted, hurriedly scrambling up. It hugged Jiang Fan’s thigh, wagging its tail and looking up with big, watery dog eyes. "Master, please listen to my explanation. You can’t blame me for this."

Jiang Fan scoffed, "You treacherous dead dog, you still want to quibble?"

"I’m innocent!" the Big Black Dog cried. "I’m a dog, so naturally I have a dog’s treacherous heart!"

Jiang Fan choked on his words. For a moment, he couldn’t find anything to say in response.

"Dead dog! I’m giving you two choices!

"First, become the featured guest on *A Bite of Central Earth*!

"Second, find me books recording the Ancestor Path!"

The Big Black Dog’s mind raced. It wondered what *A Bite of Central Earth* was. It didn’t understand what that meant, but its intuition told it that the option wasn’t very dog-friendly.

"I’ll look for books!" the Big Black Dog immediately said. "I will redeem myself and find the relevant books for you, Master!"

After saying that, it ran off in a flash. Soon, the sound of rummaging and overturning boxes could be heard.

Jiang Fan clicked his tongue. "Running so fast, it’s terrified I’ll scrape its savings clean."

He decided to leave the Big Black Dog’s last bit of foundation alone, considering it had at least tried to protect Liu Qingxian. Afterwards, Jiang Fan looked at Liu Qingxian and said, "Qingxian, please help me look as well."

Liu Qingxian’s bright eyes flashed with intelligence. "If I find it, is there a reward?"

Jiang Fan pinched her chin and said in exasperation, "You still want a reward for helping your husband?

"Search carefully. If you really find it, your husband will give you whatever you want!"

Liu Qingxian smiled mysteriously. "You said it!"

With that, she decisively went to search in another direction.

Jiang Fan smiled. He took out the Space Mirror and poured Hua Xin and Rebellious Guy out.

"I want a reward too."

"Me too~"

Rebellious Guy’s eyes were watery. Hua Xin teased him, dragging out her words in a long tone.

Jiang Fan gave each of them a punch on the forehead. "Hurry up and search. Just try being lazy!"

Holding his head, Rebellious Guy ran away, howling in pain. Hua Xin also bared her teeth and turned to leave. Once they all began their search, Jiang Fan decisively flashed to the nearest bookshelf.

"*Illustrated Handbook of A Hundred Herbs*, *Appreciation of Ancient Literature*, *Classic of Feng Yin*, *Young Lady Yang Jie*..."

Jiang Fan quickly scanned the titles on the bookshelf, the corners of his mouth twitching involuntarily. The books on a single shelf were a messy, unclassified assortment. How was finding a book recording the Ancestor Path any different from finding a needle in a haystack? Moreover, they couldn’t stay here forever. He only hoped he could find some useful clues before Liu Qingxian’s trial.

Ten days later.

Two humans, two beasts, and one ghost had searched for ten days, yet they hadn’t found any documents recording the Ancestor Path.

During this period, Jiang Fan had read countless anecdotes about the Daqian Divine Kingdom. Some of the magnificent legends left him utterly amazed. For example, during the Daqian Divine Kingdom era, someone once wanted to compare their height with the Heavenly God, and with a single sword, sliced off a section of the Heavenly Dao. There was once an expert of the Saint Realm who defeated everyone in the world, discarded his physical body, and became a god through his soul. There was once an army of a million troops that campaigned in the corners of the Void, expanding the territory. There was once a time when ten thousand nations came to pay their respects, with Daqian as their master.

...

Between the lines, Jiang Fan could glimpse the magnificent atmosphere of the Daqian Divine Kingdom era, where All Races were confident, positive, and heroic. They fought with men, fought with the heavens, and yielded to nothing. A powerful, glorious Divine Country that intimidated the heavens had once stood tall in the dark Void. Contrasting this with the present, the Hundred Realms of All Heavens were in constant peril and merely hanging by a thread under the invasion of the Ancient Dark Creatures. Where was even a fraction of the former glory? How much national power was ultimately buried with the destruction of the Daqian Divine Kingdom?

Returning his thoughts to reality, Jiang Fan smiled bitterly. The Daqian Divine Kingdom documents he had flipped through were countless, as numerous as the stars in the sky. Yet, unexpectedly, there was not a single word or phrase mentioning the "Ancestor Path". He wondered if Ancestor Path Practitioners were simply too rare in that era, resulting in a lack of documentation. Or perhaps, the documents regarding the Ancestor Path had coincidentally been destroyed.

"I found it!"

Suddenly, the Big Black Dog let out an exclamation of surprise!
