Supreme Emptiness

Chapter 2217 - 2261: Seeing 80 Again

Chapter 2217: Chapter 2261: Seeing 80 Again

After six days of changes, the silkworm cocoon had become extremely loose. The moment of Linglong’s escape was fast approaching. Her submissive demeanor was merely an act to lull Jiang Fan into a false sense of security, making him mistakenly believe their relationship had thawed. Once she finally broke free, she would undoubtedly turn around and bite back viciously.

Jiang Fan checked the Void Map. He discovered that he had returned to the Southern Heavenly World and reached its central region. They were no longer far from Nanqian. Even just utilizing the Void Feather Robe, they could arrive in a mere six days.

After nine days of travel, he and the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis should have put a considerable distance between them. The Marquis might not even be able to sense his direction at this point. As long as nothing unexpected happened over the next six days, arriving safely in Nanqian would be a breeze. Therefore, it was time to bid Linglong a thorough and ruthless farewell!

"Thank you, Young Master Jiang," Linglong swallowed the drop down, a look of satisfaction spreading across her face.

Along the journey, she had frequently used the excuse of overdrawn strength to demand Holy Angel Blood. Through this, she had secretly hoarded a full half-drop of it. Combined with the complete drop she already possessed, her hopes of breaking through to the Nine-winged Great Angel realm had grown significantly. She estimated she now had a twenty percent chance of reaching that realm.

In the past, a twenty percent chance would have been more than enough for her to risk everything on a breakthrough attempt. After all, how many Eight-winged Archangels in the Northern Heavenly State dreamed of such an opportunity? But now, she felt she needed to wait. She had to find a way to capture that little bastard Jiang Fan and force him to cough up all the Holy Blood, as well as that Heaven-defying Treasure capable of duplicating it.

If she managed that, she would have absolute, one-hundred-percent certainty of becoming a Nine-winged Great Angel! Upon reaching that realm, she would become the Northern Heavenly State’s first newly ascended Nine-winged Great Angel in ten thousand years. From then on, she would never again have to fear the East Emperor and West Empress, those two Great Angels!

Sensing that her cocoon was on the verge of unraveling completely, she acted increasingly amicable, striving to create an atmosphere of extreme friendliness for that bastard Jiang Fan.

"Young Master Jiang, in just three more days, we will arrive at Nanqian," she said, putting on a relaxed, easygoing expression. "I have some acquaintances in Nanqian. If you find yourself in any trouble, I can ask them to lend you a hand."

He found it secretly amusing. He thought, "Still acting for me, huh?"

His eyes flashing, Jiang Fan replied, "I’m only here to deliver a letter, so I shouldn’t need any help. It’s just that I’m worried that after we part ways in Nanqian, I might run into the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis again. Without Fairy Linglong’s movement technique, I’ll likely fall victim to him. If only Fairy Linglong could gift me a Life-saving Magical Treasure."

Linglong was secretly furious. She thought, "That dog! He’s at death’s door and he’s still coveting my treasures?"

She replied tactfully, "Of course. Once we get to Nanqian, I’ll give you eight or ten of them."

Jiang Fan feigned displeasure. "Why do we have to wait until Nanqian? Fairy Linglong is still guarding against me, it seems."

Linglong’s heart skipped a beat. Her biggest fear was Jiang Fan coming to his senses and growing wary of her. Seeing the distance growing between them, she had no choice but to concede. "You’re overthinking it. We’re currently on the run, so it’s just inconvenient to craft a Life-saving Magical Treasure right now. But fine, I’ll sacrifice a bit of Holy Blood and make one for you on the spot."

She silently chanted a Spell. Countless golden specks of light flew out from the eight pairs of wings on her sides, condensing in front of her chest into a small golden Angel that looked exactly like Linglong. It was brimming with a Great Angel’s flight Talent.

Linglong swayed, drained of strength, and had to activate the Holy Blood within her body to replenish her wings. Her face slightly pale, she held the little golden Angel in her mouth and offered it to Jiang Fan.

"This contains my entire Talent. Once activated, it will allow you to soar at my current speed for a full day. Unless you encounter a Nine-winged Great Angel of my Angel Clan, you will be able to shake off any formidable enemy below the Saint realm."

Jiang Fan snatched it up, his heart settling. With this item, he could practically walk unhindered throughout the Heavenly World. His upcoming journey to the Martial Vault had undoubtedly just gained a crucial, life-saving asset.

"Thank you, Fairy Linglong. Let me give you a gift in return," Jiang Fan smiled.

Linglong’s eyes lit up. Could it be that this boy, moved by her sincerity, was going to give her a drop of Holy Blood?

She said hypocritically, "Young Master Jiang, you’re too polite. Why stand on such ceremony between us?"

Jiang Fan pulled out the black Divine Wood. "It’s necessary, it’s necessary. Courtesy demands reciprocity, after all."

Since they had left the Earth Realm, the Divine Wood had been cultivated in a combination of Breath Soil and Purple Crystal Ore for another forty days. That was equivalent to over a hundred and fifty years of cultivation in the outside world. Its appearance had changed once again. Not only had the Divine Wood grown thicker, now requiring two hands to grip, but the leaf flowing with a hazy purple aura had grown from the size of a palm to the size of a human head. The bumps on the Divine Wood had also all sprouted tender shoots.

He thought, "I wonder if its pain index has changed significantly."

Jiang Fan looked at Linglong’s head. Wasn’t there a ready-made experimental head right in front of him? Embracing the rigorous attitude of seeking truth through exploration, he raised the Divine Wood and swung it down viciously.

Linglong was still secretly anticipating. She thought, "What good thing is this damn brat planning to give me..."

THWACK—

A familiar sound entered her ears, followed immediately by a familiar, dull sensation. And finally, the familiar surge of pain arrived!

It was the big black club. It was that damn big black club! But it hurt so much more than before! Even with her Eight-winged Archangel physique, a single strike had her gasping in agony, her body locking up so stiffly she couldn’t even speak.

"Huh? Why isn’t she screaming?" Jiang Fan held the large black club, his face darkening slightly. He thought, "Could its effects have weakened as it grew?"

It took two full breaths of time for Linglong to finally react. Trembling all over from the pain, a frantic scream tore from her throat: "You bastard! You’ve ridden me, you’ve taken my Magical Treasures, and now you’re just going to pull up your pants and toss me aside?!"

Oh, so it was effective? Reassured, Jiang Fan didn’t say another word. He simply swung the club down again. "Stupid woman, if I don’t strike before you break free, am I supposed to just wait for you to settle the score with me afterward?"

What? Linglong exploded with rage! Jiang Fan had known everything all along!

"Ah! I’ll kill you!" Linglong struggled desperately, causing large chunks of the loosened cocoon to crack and split.

Jiang Fan’s expression shifted. He quickly grabbed her hair with one hand, gripped the big black club with the other, and hammered down with all his might.

"Whack! Whack! Take a whack!"

THWACK THWACK THWACK—

Amidst the string of muffled impacts, Linglong let out bloodcurdling shrieks. "Jiang Fan! You bastard... I’m not done with you..."

Suddenly, the eight pairs of wings on her back erupted with an unusual golden light, looking as if they were about to explode. Jiang Fan’s face drastically changed. He thought, "Is there more to these wings than meets the eye?"

He hurriedly sped up his strikes. On the tenth hit, the shrieking Linglong kicked her legs out straight, her voice cutting off abruptly as she fainted on the spot.

Still uneasy, Jiang Fan added ten more hits. He battered her until her limbs twitched, only stopping when he was absolutely certain she was unconscious.

He thought, "Ten hits were enough to knock out an Eight-winged Archangel. Wang Chongxiao’s specially trained Iron Head probably wouldn’t be able to withstand many blows either, would it?"

Jiang Fan put away the Divine Wood while rolling off of her back to make his escape. Although Linglong had fainted, the wings on her back continued to erupt with golden light.
