Chapter 2237: Chapter 2281: Fire Bee
Jiang Fan had seen the power of the dog chain firsthand. Even Linglong, an Eight-winged Archangel, had lost all power to resist when restrained by it.
Now, there were no fewer than nine of these mysterious iron chains! The person they were binding had to be of unimaginable importance! It was highly likely that the prisoner was the Daqian Crown Prince!
The broken ends of the dog chains showed clear signs of melting. Combined with the human-shaped hole melted through the doors of the Sumeru Divine Prison, it was easy to deduce what had happened. The Daqian Crown Prince must have manifested a mysterious flame all over his body to successfully break free.
But what kind of flame could melt both the Sumeru Divine Prison and the dog chains?
For a moment, he recalled the relic his mother had left him—a Crystal containing a faint wisp of flame. There were still many unknown, mysterious flames in this world.
Suddenly, the cage they were in shuddered. A piercing screech dragged across the ceiling above them. Jiang Fan was all too familiar with this sound. It was the scraping of the Taotie Divine Beast’s sharp claws against the cage!
Fortunately, it didn’t last long. The Taotie Divine Beast seemed to sense the presence of the Chaotic Ancient Blood Marquis and quickly retreated.
"Phew, that was close." Qing Jiu tried to catch her breath, but realized she was pressed tightly against the wall of the bell, making it difficult to breathe.
Turning her head, she saw that Jiang Fan’s entire body was pressing down on hers.
"If it’s safe outside, let’s get out," she said calmly.
Jiang Fan also noticed the awkward situation in his arms. He let out a dry cough and replied, "Wait a moment."
They still hadn’t figured out what had been unleashing that dense barrage of attacks on them just moments ago. Looking further into the distance, he was astonished to discover a dark-brown honeycomb in a corner of the cage!
Fire Bees, entirely wreathed in red flames, were darting in and out of it. Sensing Jiang Fan’s probing gaze, a swarm of Fire Bees immediately flew out from the hive.
Jiang Fan quickly closed the great bell. Outside, the dense sound of impacts resumed.
"What is that?" Qing Jiu’s voice was weak, restricted by the pressure against her body.
"It’s a swarm of mysterious Fire Bees," Jiang Fan said.
Qing Jiu was astonished. To be able to strike the Immortal King’s Undying Bell with such force, these Fire Bees had to possess an unbelievably powerful Physique, even leaving aside the question of whether they were highly venomous.
With those dangerous Fire Bees outside, didn’t that mean they would be trapped here indefinitely? And didn’t that also mean she would be pinned under Jiang Fan this whole time?
"Think of a solution," she chided softly.
Jiang Fan had been deep in thought. "A solution isn’t hard to find," he replied. "I’m just wondering, in a sealed cage like this, where do the Fire Bees find food to multiply?"
Still harboring this question, he instructed, "Let’s all move together and shift the Immortal King’s Undying Bell right under the honeycomb."
Saying so, he straightened his waist. A strange expression crossed Qing Jiu’s face as she bit her lip slightly and struggled to straighten up as well. The three of them shuffled forward, squeezed tightly together like a sandwich.
When they reached the corner where the honeycomb hung, they naturally encountered even more attacks from the Fire Bees.
Jiang Fan summoned the Light God Command Banner and channeled it, commanding, "Let all light be concentrated at the honeycomb."
In an instant, the faint light inside the Immortal King’s Undying Bell vanished without a trace, leaving behind absolute darkness. Qing Jiu couldn’t see a single thing. If Jiang Fan hadn’t been pressing against her from behind, she wouldn’t even have known he was there.
The Fire Bees that had been stinging the Immortal King’s Undying Bell suddenly lost their sense of direction. One by one, they returned to the only source of light—the honeycomb.
Once the outside grew quiet, Jiang Fan lifted a corner of the bell, a look of satisfaction on his face. "So these Fire Bees also rely on light to move. That makes things easy!"
Jiang Fan took out a Life Space Pocket, then used the No-Self Dust-Cleansing Technique for Invisibility, and attached eighteen Array Stones to his body. Only then did he carefully slip out of the Immortal King’s Undying Bell.
Taking advantage of the fact that the Fire Bees were all huddled inside their hive, he moved swiftly, rushing forward to cover the honeycomb with the Life Pocket. With a forceful yank, he tore the entire hive down. He then hurriedly sealed the Life Pocket shut.
Unexpectedly, the Life Pocket immediately began to burn from the inside out. A relentless BUZZING sound rang out! A Life Space Storage Device simply couldn’t contain the Fire Bees!
Jiang Fan’s expression changed drastically. He quickly took out the Nine Dragon Demon Tripod and tossed the entire Life Space Pocket into the tripod before the Fire Bees could escape. Then, with a loud CLANG, he slammed the lid shut.
Even though his reaction was fast, one Fire Bee managed to slip out. It spun around, spotted Jiang Fan, and charged at him with a furious BUZZ. Its speed was so astonishing it left one speechless.
Before Jiang Fan could even react, he felt a tearing pain in his chest. Looking down, he saw that the black Array Stone protecting his chest was covered in dense cracks. The Fire Bee groggily got back on its feet from the surface of the Array Stone.
Jiang Fan’s pupils contracted. It shattered the Array Stone with just an impact? If he hadn’t protected himself with the Array Stones beforehand, his body would have been pierced right through!
Even more terrifying was that this Array Stone also showed signs of melting. The temperature of the flames on the bee’s body was simply horrifying!
Jiang Fan’s expression turned cold as he decisively activated the Array Stone’s power. He hurriedly whipped out the Big Black Stick and ruthlessly smashed it against the bee a few times with loud THWACKS.
If even Linglong, an Eight-winged Archangel, couldn’t endure the strikes of this heavy club, how could a mere Fire Bee? By the eighth strike, the Fire Bee finally collapsed.
Jiang Fan was thoroughly amazed. Linglong had taken ten strikes before dropping; this Fire Bee was terrifyingly durable!
Taking advantage of its unconscious state, Jiang Fan picked it up, opened a tiny crack in the lid of the Nine Dragon Demon Tripod, and tossed it inside. A flurry of incredibly dense impacts echoed from within the Nine Dragon Demon Tripod, sounding like countless muffled thunderclaps exploding inside. Just listening to it made his scalp tingle.
If he ever encountered an annoying enemy and threw them into the Nine Dragon Demon Tripod... he almost didn’t dare to imagine the scene.
Putting away the Nine Dragon Demon Tripod, Jiang Fan used the Light God Command Banner to restore light to the cage. Sweeping his gaze around, he was surprised to find messy characters of varying sizes carved into the stone walls. They had all been etched through the air using Spiritual Power, with some carvings looking much older than others.
"The world has betrayed me! The world has betrayed me!!!"
"Duke Zhen, must be killed!"
"Duke Zhong, must be killed!!"
"Duke Zhu, must be killed!!!"
"Duke Wei, must be killed!!!!"
"Kill, kill, kill! Everyone in the world can be killed!!"
A terrifying murderous intent reverberated from the walls. Jiang Fan suddenly felt his insides churning wildly, and he opened his mouth, spurting out a large mouthful of blood.
Inside the Immortal King’s Undying Bell, Qing Jiu and Dharma Seal noticed the anomaly. They lifted the bell, stepped out, and looked around, their faces revealing their shock.
"Martial Granduncle, take this medicine," Dharma Seal said, handing over a gourd.
Jiang Fan waved his hand in refusal. "Don’t look at the words on the walls!" he warned with a solemn expression.
What he had just seen was only a small fraction of the walls, yet he had already suffered a backlash from the murderous intent. He couldn’t imagine just how many words filled with hatred and killing intent were scrawled across this prison.
Qing Jiu merely gave it a brief glance but immediately felt her chest tighten, and she quickly averted her eyes. Her beautiful eyes shifted as she said, "The one sealed here is the Daqian Crown Prince, isn’t it?"
Huh? Jiang Fan looked at her in surprise.
He had only deduced that the Daqian Crown Prince was imprisoned here by piecing together countless pieces of information.
Qing Jiu glanced at him and said, "What’s so strange about it? The entire Daqian Royal Family was slaughtered. The only two who survived were that mysterious Daqian Crown Prince and your Central Earth’s Daqian Princess."
Hearing the first half of her sentence, Jiang Fan didn’t think much of it. But upon hearing the last part, his eyes widened involuntarily.
