Diary of a Dead Wizard

Chapter 590: The Old Witch's Battle

Estimating the magical power intensity carried by the hurricane just now, the Old Witch sneered: “Second-rank wizard? Perfect time to let them know the difference between people!”

She reached back to grab her head and pulled out a flesh-colored mask that could cover her entire face.

This mask could block scrying spells while not obstructing her vision.

But as the Old Witch strode outward, Steward Hope stepped out to dissuade her.

He approached the Old Witch and said, “Madam, there may be more than one second-rank wizard on their side. We should rely on Rhine Lake for defense.”

With Rhine Lake, at least second-rank wizards couldn’t harm them across the frozen lake surface.

To deal with this situation, Saul had long ago instructed the Steward to set up long-range physical attack systems on the lake island.

The Old Witch actually knew this too, and it was precisely because she had the wizard tower behind her that she could charge out so fearlessly.

She waved dismissively, “I know. But when enemies come knocking at our door, how can no one respond to battle?”

Without waiting for the Steward to speak again, she grabbed the magic wolf that was already baring its teeth and raising its rear, casually severed the reins on the wolf, jumped onto its back, grabbed its fur with one hand and gave its head a hard knock with the other. “Charge! Let me see if you’re really a wolf or a dog!”

Almost the next second, the magic wolf charged out as if unable to stand the Old Witch’s provocation.

At this time, the giant mushrooms on the outermost perimeter had already fallen to the ground.

Soon, three figures appeared by Rhine Lake.

From their unrestrained magical power fluctuations, it was clear these people were all second-rank wizards!

The Old Witch narrowed her eyes. She had seen all these people before.

When she had infiltrated Wind Sprite’s lair, she had been injured by these very people.

“All Wind Sprite’s personal subordinates. Looks like she really values Saul!”

Though three second-ranks stood opposite her, the Old Witch wasn’t afraid. She even suppressed the magic wolf’s somewhat cowering emotions and continued charging.

From above, one person and one wolf were like a black arrow piercing through white ice and misty fog, advancing fearlessly with murderous intent!

Her terrifying momentum actually made the three second-ranks who had just stepped onto Rhine Lake somewhat wary.

“No good, this lake’s magic-forbidding power is very strong. Even we can’t gather magical power.”

“We can’t, but Lord Wind Sprite won’t be affected much.”

The third wizard looked at the Old Witch rushing toward them and stepped back several paces off the ice layer. “Don’t forget our mission… capture all second-rank wizards!”

The third person raised his hand and waved. Suddenly over a hundred people wearing blue-green cloaks charged out of the mushroom forest, stepping onto the ice without hesitation and sprinting madly toward the pure white wizard tower.

The Old Witch had now approached the frontmost runners. She glanced at these reckless people who seemed unafraid of death, and a cold smile curved her lips.

“Hmph!”

The Old Witch grabbed the magic wolf, which suddenly raised its front claws and tore apart the enemy directly ahead.

Flesh scattered in all directions amid flying blood, as if dyeing the surrounding white mist with blood.

After the Old Witch tore apart one person, all the other blue-robed people ran away from her.

But these people didn’t turn to flee. After leaving a three-meter diameter clearing around the Old Witch, they continued running toward the lake island opposite.

The Old Witch didn’t bother with these people anymore.

The magic wolf leaped to the lakeside, where one person now stood facing her.

The other two were nowhere to be seen.

“Where are the other two? Don’t tell me they’re scared? Hiding?” Though clearly relieved, the Old Witch still had to act tough.

Standing opposite the Old Witch was the only female among the three second-rank wizards.

She stared at the Old Witch with a stern face, her robes gently trembling.

The moment the magic wolf stepped ashore, the surrounding air suddenly became heavy. Friction sounds gradually arose in the invisible air, as if two unseen hands were struggling against each other.

The magic both released was actually the same.

Just as the two were in standoff, the wizard tower behind the Old Witch suddenly made an explosive sound.

Then came uniform whistling sounds through the air. Dozens of arrows deliberately painted grayish-white formed an arc in the air before precisely falling into the densest group of blue-cloaked figures.

About half immediately fell, bringing down many more nearby.

The wizard facing off against the Old Witch remained expressionless.

“Is this the defensive measure you rely on?”

The Old Witch didn’t answer. She leaped down from the magic wolf while several rotating twisted air currents appeared around her body, rapidly swirling toward the opposite wizard.

The wizard’s previously gently trembling robes suddenly bulged. Large amounts of colorless transparent gas inflated her robes, then when the clothes made painful tearing sounds, they violently burst out from collar, sleeves, and hem, forming a thick cyclone that directly scattered the whirlwinds the Old Witch had released.

At this time, she continued taunting, “Your resistance is useless.”

As if explaining the wizard’s words, the people just struck down by grayish-white arrows got up one by one, moving agilely and running quickly, completely unlike people who had just been injured.

But the wizard tower side didn’t immediately follow up with a new round of arrow arrays, allowing these blue-robed people to quickly approach the lake island.

On the island, three consciousness bodies with their respective soul armaments stood ready for battle.

Herman, the weakest but most impulsive, almost charged off the lake island before being pulled back by Ann’s spider leg hooking his ankle.

“Did you forget the rules over the lake? If you freeze into a popsicle, I’m not fishing you out.”

Just as they prepared to counterattack the enemies about to land, the people charging enthusiastically suddenly fell in waves.

Just like the previous scene repeating, they were struck down again by invisible attacks.

Only this time more people fell.

And it spread outward like a tide.

One person wearing a blue-green cloak saw the person in front of him fall as if struck by something, and his heart was shocked.

He had also been struck down by the first round of arrows, but the highly resilient cloak with decent defense had blocked the damage, leaving only some dull pain.

Just as he wondered why so many people were falling this time when no attacking weapons had clearly landed, a sudden and extremely tormenting pain came from inside his body.

This immediately made him lose control of his body. As if someone had punched him hard, he fell straight to the ground.

Then that painful sensation spread along his spine throughout his entire body, making it impossible for him to stand up.

On the mushroom forest side, despite using magic in turns, the wizard still couldn’t defeat the Old Witch and finally couldn’t help being distracted by the tragic situation on the lake surface.

“No mental power or magical fluctuations… there was poison in that arrow rain!”

The Old Witch chuckled, “More or less. Don’t forget you’re provoking a wizard who moonlights as a healer. He can help people recover from illness, so naturally he can also make people sick!”

As soon as she finished speaking, the Old Witch suddenly charged forward.

The wizard was about to dodge when she suddenly felt like she had hit a transparent wall.

She uncontrollably stepped back two paces, then several black tentacles suddenly burst from the soil under her feet, unhesitatingly entangling her legs and trying hard to reach into her wizard robes.

The Old Witch didn’t stop, releasing an air shield but using the shield as a weapon, charging again at the wizard who was temporarily entangled by Little Algae.
