Chapter 629 - 33: The Gap

Chapter 629: Chapter 33: The Gap

Light Church, Holy Maiden Hall.

The Holy Maiden Hall of the Light Church is not the worldly palace of gold and jade splendor imagined, its grandeur lies in an almost divine, cold purity and height.

The enormous hall is entirely built from a white stone called ’Holy Radiance Stone’, each piece polished to mirror-like smoothness, refracting and diffusing the sunlight into ubiquitous gentle halos.

The dome is dizzyingly high, as if reaching directly into the Kingdom of Heaven, adorned with countless tiny crystal stones containing Light Elements, resembling a flowing galaxy even in daylight.

At this moment,

Blair Jomans is seated on a chair sculpted from a whole piece of warm white jade at the lower end of the hall. The chair feels cool to the touch, its lines smooth and perfect, priceless, yet he sits uneasy as on pins and needles.

Between him and the Holy Daughter of Light, Julia, at the upper end, stretches a ’Path of Light’ paved with mirror-like Holy Radiance Stones, seemingly never-ending.

On either side of the path, every ten steps stands a priestess in immaculate pure white priest robes, her face covered with a thin silver veil. They stand as still as sculptures, their breathing barely audible, only the faint golden runes flowing at the robe hemline indicate they are not inanimate, but powerful Light Guards.

Merely being in such an environment, Blair feels an invisible pressure as heavy as a mountain weighing down on his heart, causing him to subconsciously lighten his breath, even striving to control the rhythm of his heartbeat.

Attendants move silently, serving drinks and snacks. The cups for drinks are not of gold or silver, but crafted from a whole piece of pure and flawless ’Moonlight Crystal’, the cup walls thin as a cicada’s wings, containing a liquid not of ordinary wine, but one emitting a soft golden glow, with dim light spots floating—’Holy Dew of Dawn’.

It’s said that a single drop contains pure Light Magic Power, capable of cleansing soul impurities, a sacred item exclusive to the church’s upper echelons. Right now, a full cup is placed on the white jade table beside Blair, emanating a tempting yet awe-inspiring aura.

The snacks are exquisitely otherworldly. In the crystal plates and dishes are several ’Light Whisper Berries’ that seem freshly picked, still with morning dew, the pulp semi-transparent, with tiny light flows seemingly swimming within;

A few slices of ’Sunlight Bird’ breast meat, thin as cicada’s wings, presenting a perfect golden yellow, exuding an enticing burnt fragrance and pure Light Elemental Fluctuation; and several cakes made of ’Holy Light Wheat’ flour and ’Honey Light Bee’ honey, perfectly shaped, exuding a warm and pure sweet fragrance.

Each piece of tableware, even a small silver spoon, bears complex and sacred Light Runes, with edges inlaid with tiny, self-luminous ’Radiant Spark Diamonds’.

Blair’s gaze sweeps over these lavish furnishings, truly astonished within.

’Is this… the Light Church’s foundation?’ he cries out within.

’Using Moonlight Crystal as drinking cups? Serving Holy Dew of Dawn as if it were water? And these snacks made of Magic Plants and Magic Beasts… In the Ancient Ruins, a single Light Whisper Berry was enough to cause High-level Wizards to scramble for it! Here, they are just guests’ snacks?!’

The stark contrast leaves him dizzy. Even at the Jomans family’s peak, they never had such grandeur; this transcends the realm of wealth, it is absolute control over resources and symbolizes an almost divine power!

He carefully picks up that cup of Holy Dew of Dawn, his fingers trembling slightly, fearing to break this invaluable vessel with the slightest mishap.

“No need to be courteous, Senior Blair.” Julia’s voice rings out.

At this moment, she sits in the principal seat, her back straight, like the most perfect deity. She just sits there quietly, enjoying the equally exquisite tea snacks, her movements are slow and precise, without any unnecessary action. Her whole being naturally exudes a noble and lofty aura.

’Is this really that Julia?’

Blair is filled with emotion, remembering a time when she was merely an apprentice within his family’s sphere of influence, a humble Muggle, unfit even to speak to him, granted the chance to attend a banquet only because of her fair looks and a friend’s favor.

As a plaything.

Yet, unexpectedly, time has changed circumstances significantly, the once Muggle apprentice, only meant to exist as a plaything at banquets, is now so high and resplendent.

Truly…

Filled with emotion, Blair hurriedly says respectfully: “Thank you, Your Highness the Holy Daughter, it is truly my family’s honor to meet you.”

Julia’s lips curl slightly upward, very satisfied with Blair’s response.

She continues, “Alright, let’s end the reminiscing here, I also have many official duties to handle, if Senior Blair has anything to say, just say it.” Follow current novᴇls on NoveI(F)ire.net

Blair’s heart tightens.

He hurriedly speaks up: “It’s like this, Your Highness the Holy Daughter, as you may know, in the Ancient Ruins, some events have transpired over the years; the Freemasonry Church, that evil organization, has waged a war against us, seizing vast amounts of our resources and land.”

“The war continues, we hope to obtain some external support, I am here representing the collective will of the Wizard Families, earnestly requesting your support, and the support of the new Lord of Emerald.”

Julia leisurely drinks Holy Dew of Dawn, casually saying: “You all haven’t finished fighting yet? It’s been going on for a while, if you can’t win just surrender.”

This behavior is remarkably disrespectful, making Blair internally rise with anger.

However, one must lower one’s head under another’s roof, so Blair can only suppress his inner fury, explaining amiably: “Your Highness the Holy Daughter, you also came from the Ancient Ruins, you know the situation there.”

“Between us and the Freemasonry Church, it’s already a fight to the death, there’s no possibility of reconciliation.”

Julia snorts lightly: “Humph, isn’t this all because you were aggressive in the past.”

Blair is speechless.

By now, he naturally realizes the main factors inducing all these issues indeed stem from themselves, excessively emphasizing lineage supremacy, excessively practicing class oppression, providing no upward possibilities for the lower ranks.

Not considering Muggles as equals, purely as tools, playthings, slaves, or even test subjects, no matter how outstanding or hardworking a Muggle was, they were still disdainfully ignored.

Ideals above all, Purebloods as Purebloods, Muggles as Muggles.

The former deserving to sit high and enjoy all resources, while the latter remains trampled regardless of effort.

Thus,

there arose Erodion, leading to today’s situation.
