Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 420: The Soldier

Chapter 420: The Soldier

Rael whistled to himself as he descended the mountain range. He fell a couple of times like an idiot but got back up quickly.

It felt weird having a body so light, but it was also hard to control.

If he were to get into a fight right about now, he would most likely be beaten to a pulp, but since Rael had the trustworthy Burger beside him, everything was going to be okay.

Not.

[Summon your dragon wings and float down, let the humans feast in your regal nature,] Burger said, letting out an evil laugh. [Hey hey, walk up to them and spread your wings, then say: Rejoice, humans, for I have come to deliver salvation upon you! Muhahaha!]

Burger’s annoying laugh continued, and once again, Rael turned to ignoring him.

“I’m not a messiah,” Rael mumbled and calmly approached the city.

In the meantime, he saw the landslide that he had caused earlier, and thankfully, it was controlled. There were a few dozen mages casting barrier spells and pushing the landslide backward.

Some were even taking apart small bits and pieces of the landslide and tossing them into the sea beside them.

Just as Rael was about to enter the city, he felt a blade reach his throat, and once he turned his head slightly to the side, he spotted an ordinary soldier.

He was wearing a light suit of armor, which made him more agile, while also sporting a symbol of a blank-faced figure with green hair and green eyes on his leather jacket.

If Rael had to guess, that symbol was probably the crest of Elmlot, or rather, the kingdom itself.

Malinali Liesa might be a prideful woman if she’s this confident about putting her face on everything,

Rael thought with a hum and addressed the soldier.

“Sorry. Bad timing, huh?” Rael chuckled. “I swear I’m just a merchant.”

The soldier scoffed. “So where are your carriages filled with wares? Do you intend to sell only what you have inside your inventory? You should know that is not going to work, young man.”

“You’d be surprised what I can do with what’s inside my inventory,” Rael replied with a smile. “So come on, just let me through.”

Before the soldier could reply, Rael acted as if he were reaching into his inventory, when in reality, he entered the Premium Shop, and soon bought a bottle of whiskey.

He made it seem as though he had pulled it out of his inventory before holding it in front of the soldier.

“Here you go, there’s plenty more where that came from, and if you happen to find me whilst I’m out selling my wares, I’m willing to give you another bottle for free.”

Of course, it was the usual bribe strategy. It worked last time he was in the Depths when he had to enter that settlement, so why not now? After all, these people did look like pirates.

And as expected, the soldier looked around a few times, then grabbed the bottle from Rael’s hands and stashed it away inside his inventory.

After that, he proceeded to hand Rael a badge that had the same symbol he wore on his jacket. Coincidentally, there was the name ’Karam Hampus,’ which was obviously the name of the soldier in front of Rael.

“By giving you this permit, I take responsibility for every action you make from this moment forward… so try not to go ahead and kill everyone,” Karam said. “My shift will end in two hours. Find the Pony Tail Inn. That’s where I’ll want my alcohol.”

He narrowed his eyes. “Do I make myself clear? You’re nothing but an alcohol mule for me, so if you ever decide that you don’t want to provide me with alcohol anymore, I’ll get you thrown out of the city. Mark my words.”

Rael raised his brow in amusement.

He must be a very fun guy to be around, Rael thought sarcastically and nodded at the man.

“Alright, I’ll make sure your needs are met. Now may I enter Elmlot… sir?”

Karam grinned and then pointed his blade at the city.

Then, without even saying another word, he left, returning to the rest of the soldiers who were still dealing with the landslide.

As for Rael, he leisurely walked toward the city once again, entering through a stone gate that was completely unmanned.

It seemed like his reckless stunt did have some merit, since he now didn’t have to really go through any authentication.

Guess I could’ve just run into the city without anyone noticing, but oh well… having an alibi just in case isn’t a bad thing.

Nevertheless, he entered the streets and walked alongside the beautiful canal. There were even a few fish swimming around, which reminded him of his Fishmancy skill.

Should I convert it into the [Plasma] variant…? Hmm… not yet, Rael decided. I’ll do that a bit later, because for all I know, the +150% bonus to my stats might disappear when I most need it.

Still, despite the streets and canals being beautiful, they were completely empty because of the earlier panic.

Even so, Rael walked through the streets, then jumped across the canal a couple of times, and eventually, he arrived in front of the port.

There was a giant mansion beside it, and since there wasn’t a single castle or palace in the city, Rael could only assume that this mansion belonged to the ruler.

The mana he sensed only confirmed his suspicions.

Therefore, he approached the door slowly, then knocked on it several times.

He heard footsteps from inside the mansion, growing quicker with each passing second.

Just then, Rael’s foresight triggered, showing him a future where a curved blade would thrust through the door two seconds later, piercing his throat.

So to avoid that, Rael decided to turn the tables.

Sure, he could dodge, but he was dealing with a pirate.

Therefore, Rael smirked, and without wasting even a moment, he kicked the door in with full force.
