Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 509: Taking His First Steps

Chapter 509: Taking His First Steps

“Tell me… What did you try to do whenever you took that step?” Vatyra asked patiently.

“I wanted to crush you, I guess,” Rael replied nonchalantly. “Did I go about it the wrong way?”

“Of course you didn’t, stupid baby dragon.” Vatyra sighed, rubbing her temples. “Didn’t you read the skill description? You must first endure the gravity before you can cast it on me.” The most update n0vels are published on N0v3l.Fiɾe.net

She approached and tapped him square on his chest, right where his lungs were.

“It’s all in the breathing. When you inhale, you gather the gravity inside you. Then, you take a step as you exhale. That, in turn, releases the gravity you have gathered inside you.”

“Hmm… So I gather gravity inside me when I inhale… But how exactly do I gather gravity?” Rael asked the obvious.

“Have you ever tried tapping into your stamina outside of combat?” Vatyra asked with a slight smile.

“Yep, I use it for my regeneration,” Rael replied.

Though it’s a little too easy because I have an infinite amount of stamina. Rael whistled inwardly. Thanks to the Fallen God’s Constitution, of course.

“That’s fine. It’s a good start, and it also means you already kind of know what to do, so this next part is going to be easier…” Vatyra trailed off, taking a few steps back.

“Now, you know how you make your heart forcefully beat? Do the same for your lungs.”

“…?”

Noticing his confusion, Vatyra finally explained:

“Whenever you take a breath, you usually do it subconsciously, right? So now, take a deep breath… Like a really deep breath. When you feel your lungs getting heavy, take a step as you exhale.”

“So you want me to use my stamina to get more air into my lungs? Is that it?” Rael asked.

Vatyra nodded. “For now, yes. Just get the feel of it first. When you get the breathing down, you won’t need to inhale that much air. You’ll be able to channel the heaviness into your lungs just from a simple breath.”

Rael’s expression lit up slightly. He really liked power-ups, and when those power-ups came in the form of an overpowered combat footwork, he was even more excited.

After all, so far, he only had Hollow Waltz for his footwork. That also meant at some point, he could fuse these skills if possible, getting an even more overpowered skill.

But for the time being, Rael focused on the task at hand.

And he did so by taking a deep breath. He was honestly surprised by how much air he could get into his lungs by simply breathing in. Nonetheless, it only took him five seconds to feel that heavy feeling Vatyra had been talking about.

So, with a confident expression, Rael stepped forward and—

—BOOOOOOM!

[HP -85%! Vitality: Tier 10 [15% / 100% HP]

Rael’s body suddenly exploded as he was split into multiple different pieces. His heart and the rest of his organs seemed to explode as well.

His head was intact, and because of that, he managed to process what had just happened.

Did I really just explode like a balloon? Rael thought, gritting through the pain as he began to heal rapidly.

The healing was so rapid, in fact, that he realized when his body didn’t have something to support the healing, it would heal at maximum capacity, which was obviously 250,000,000% HP regeneration.

And like that, he was fine once again as he stared down at the pieces of his body lying around on the ground. Not wanting to see them, Rael sent a kick their way, the air pressure blowing them only god knew where.

Yet when he turned around to face Vatyra, he was met with a slight smirk.

No wonder she stepped back… She knew this would happen.

She put a hand over her mouth, almost as if she was shocked. “Oh right, I forgot to tell you, but if you hold your breath for too long before exhaling it, you might explode… Pfft… Hahahaha!”

“Yeah… I’m never buying you turkey ever again,” Rael said, causing Vatyra’s teasing to come to an immediate end.

“H-Hey now, don’t be hasty. I was only joking. Plus, it’s not like you can’t regenerate from that kind of damage. You survived when your entire body was destroyed, so I figured you’d just shake this off,” Vatyra reasoned, speaking quickly. “And hey, it’s not like that wasn’t a learning experience, right?”

As he was about to speak, she spoke instead.

“It’s like… You know when you tell a child not to do something, but it does it anyway, right? But if you let them experience it firsthand, then they’ll never do it again… Or so I heard.”

There was a faint trace of longing in her words, and it was pretty obvious why. On the other hand, she was right. He definitely would’ve taken her warning that he would pop like a balloon as a joke.

But now that he knew that would be the case, Rael decided to speed things up a notch.

Taking a step back, he inhaled as much air as he could, and then, without wasting a single second, he exhaled it as he stepped toward Vatyra. To his surprise, he felt a cone-shaped pulse leave his body, and in the next second, the rocks surrounding Vatyra cracked, clearly influenced by the gravity.

And when he glanced to the side, he realized that he had actually activated the skill just now.

<Ding!>

Rael’s grin grew as he proceeded to inhale again. This time, the heaviness was… well, heavier. Twice as heavy, in fact.

But even so, he effortlessly exhaled with a step in Vatyra’s direction, triggering the skill once again.

He also realized that the area of effect for the skill wasn’t just directly on Vatyra, but at least 50 meters behind her as well, in the form of a cone. It was, of course, tied to the pulse he felt earlier.

Seeing how Vatyra stared at him without saying a single word, he took it as her letting him test the skill on her.

Therefore, he would do just that.
