<You may now enter the 50th floor.>
<Would you like to enter the 50th floor? Yes / No>
<Notice: If nothing is selected within 10 minutes, you will be automatically transported to the 50th floor.>
Staring at the corpse of the powerful lion that they had just killed, Rael was very satisfied with the increase in stats.
After the 30th floor, it had become a little harder. The monsters were no longer instantly killed, or rather, two-hit killed. Even this lion here took five hits before dying, and it actually managed to slightly claw Rael’s leg.
Speaking of Rael’s leg, that lion had poison in its claws, and because of that, Rael’s leg was now rotten and pretty much dead.
He turned to Nyx, and after seeing the state he was in, she simply let out a sigh and didn’t hesitate to lop his leg clean off.
The moment she did, a new leg grew back in the old one’s place, and thankfully, the poison didn’t spread high enough for him to need to chop off his little brother too.
Anyhow…
Level 87, and a lot more stat points. Naturally, I’ll dump them all into Ordinance.
And when he did that, Rael immediately opened his status screen.

Rael pouted a little.
He was so close to unlocking that hidden stat that could only be unlocked with 150 Ordinance. Oh well… three more levels.
Aside from that, Rael felt much greater control over his Laws. Whatever Ordinance did, Rael felt like it not only increased the Laws’ general strength but also his mastery. Although the increase wasn’t visible in his Laws tab, he was sure that it was indeed there.
At most, Rael thought that this tower stunted his status screens. It might actually all pop up properly once he comes out of the tower. Though, he wasn’t really certain when that’ll happen.
From what he remembered Nyx saying, a second here was roughly an hour outside. Considering they had been at this for nearly two hours, plus an hour since they got in, roughly three hours passed here… while on the outside, it has been 450 days.
In short, a little over a year.
I still have no word from Zafira and Lilith… Gaia’s also unreachable. This sucks, Rael thought with a sigh. I wish there was some way to contact them, but even though I now have access to Epic-ranked items in the Premium Shop, there aren’t any that have the function of actually allowing access outside of the tower.
Although it sucked, and Rael wanted to claim it was unfair, he knew this would be the case the moment he decided to do it in the first place.
But now that he reached the 50th floor, Rael wanted to take a chill pill. Rather, as he stared at the timer that was slowly ticking down before transporting him, he glanced over at Nyx, who had just been humming to herself for the last several minutes.
She seemed very bored, but then again… in the last couple safe zones they had been to, there hadn’t been a single person. She wasn’t a very social butterfly, but she also wanted to bully some people.
Bullying Rael would be a little counterproductive, after all.
Anyhow…
“What do you think? Want to gamble again?” Rael asked.
Nyx furrowed her brows.
“I’m not gambling.”
He rolled his eyes.
“You’ve bet me all your food for the last couple of safe zones, since you thought there’d be people. You know, the 50th floor might be it. We could do one last gamble.”
She stared at him for a moment, then said:
“I’ve only got some crackers left.”
“I’ll take them,” Rael replied with a chuckle. “In return, if you win, I’ll give you back everything you gave me.”
“Alright. That works for me.” Nyx shrugged. “Though, the odds of there being someone here are far too low… The 45th floor was even more dusty than the 5th floor.”
He smiled, then without wasting a single moment, grabbed her hand and quickly pressed “Yes.”
In the next instant, his body shook as he was abruptly teleported over to the next safe zone. And when the two of them arrived, Rael was expecting to see some more dust-filled streets, but instead… he saw a flawless polished street in front of him.
There were a couple dozen ransacked inns not too far away too, and judging by how there were some bits of red blood on the windows, Rael felt like this was pretty recent.
But since that was the case, what were the odds that this blood belonged to Renoir?
Had the safe zone not been limiting him, Rael would inspect the blood. Since he wasn’t some paranormal detective, he wasn’t about to go there, pick up the blood, and identify the person by just licking it.
Yet right as Rael’s mind was about to spin into some random theories, Nyx suddenly tugged at his wrist, pulling him toward her.
He thought she was about to pull something on him, yet once he turned toward her, he saw her pointing into the distance.
And once he saw what she was pointing at, Rael froze.
There were a couple of people jumping from one rooftop to another, as though they were fighting.
But honestly? He was more surprised that there was someone here in the first place.
