Chapter 850: Infinite Power Ceiling?
“Well, my questions haven’t changed. Also, did you prestige as well?” Rael asked.
Reyna paused, then nodded.
“I’m on my 24th prestige.”
Oh.
“Fucking hell… So, like, you’re really strong now?”
She shrugged.
“I’m above average, I suppose. The people who go beyond the 100th floor and prestige there are much stronger than me. I sadly was just barely able to reach the 105th floor because of how much the difficulty spiked on the 101st floor.”
Rael raised a brow.
“By how much?”
“At least fifty times compared to the difficulty of the 99th floor. I’m powerful, I always was. I had mastered 12 Laws at the time I had gone to the 101st floor too, and yet the basic monsters I fought there were beyond what I could handle. It’s a blessing the other floors weren’t combat-related floors, so I was able to survive.”
Huh…
So she struggled so much even though she had so many Laws mastered? Not to mention, 24 prestiges later, she was definitely hundreds of times stronger than before… Yet she still wasn’t in the mood to climb higher?
Sure, Rael believed there was some degree of cowardice involved, but also, just what exactly could she have fought against that made her struggle so much?
Rael let out a sigh and, with a slightly regretful look, nodded at her.
“I see… So I take it you don’t really know how many floors there are in this tower.”
She shook her head.
“I don’t. I had met one person several centuries ago who had reached the 150th floor and then prestiged. We had promised to meet each other a decade later, but he was nowhere to be seen. He’s either still climbing, or he’s already dead.”
Yeah…
This really was depressing.
“As for getting out, I believe there were some rumors about it?” Reyna said.
The moment she did, Rael’s ears perked up.
“Really?”
She smiled.
“Yes. But then again, there are only myths. Apparently, you’re given an option to go back once you reach the 200th floor. It’s said that… Well, people who had reached the 200th floor prestiged to spread that rumor. I don’t believe it. I feel like no one has even gotten that far up. Maybe… But definitely not higher than floor 250.”
Interesting.
Well, Rael was sure that there were some demons that had reached even the 500th floor, since Rael knew that when it came to games, the average player didn’t know how powerful and mechanically skilled some players were.
So, of course, Rael was sure there were a bunch of people there.
“I see… Well, I’m not really sure what else to ask, since you kind of stunlocked me with your story. Though, I’m a man of my word, so give me a sec.”
Rael reached into the premium shop and quickly decided to buy something nice for her. There were plenty of items here, and of course, there were some that were beneficial for her.
But before that…
“Are you more of a ghoul, or a vampire?”
Her brows twitched.
“I drink blood and eat flesh. I’m a regular vampire.”
Mmm…
“How about this then. Which do you prefer more?”
She thought about it for a moment, then held up one finger, obviously saying that she preferred blood more.
And since that was the case, Rael decided to generously reach into the premium shop and buy an infinite blood bag.
When he tossed the blood bag to her and also handed her a straw, she seemed a little confused. If anything, this resembled just a regular blood bag. However, once she focused on it, her eyes widened.
Without wasting a single moment, she stuck the straw through and began sipping on the blood. As it so happened, that blood was so delicious that she could barely stop.
But so what? It wasn’t like the blood was ever going to run out.
And as Rael stared at her drinking for a little while, he decided to look around her shop. Of course, he could just buy a nice Epic-ranked weapon from the premium shop. Rather, he might actually be able to buy some shitty Legendary-ranked weapons.
But then again, he also felt like an ancient vampire could make something particularly fancy. For one, if she could somehow figure out how to convert his body, which was nothing but mana, into some kind of blood power, then he would have a literal infinite power glitch, since all he needed to do to defeat his opponents was just stab himself.
Masochism or not, Rael was not one to shy away from battle.
Yet as he inspected the swords on display, he wasn’t exactly the most interested. There were a couple of common swords, two rares, and even one uncommon. The rest seemed like duds, whereas the one in particular that was behind her seemed like her greatest creation.
But then again, Rael wasn’t in the mood to get hustled. He had watched one too many videos where the seller puts the main item somewhere that would attract attention and then practically asks for a kidney in exchange to buy it.
Clicking his tongue, Rael decided to just wave her goodbye and check out the other areas in the city.
But right as he was about to leave, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, causing him to halt for a brief moment.
“Wait a second.”
Reyna’s cold voice resounded.
“Are you perhaps interested in a weapon?”
Rael turned his head slightly.
“…Maybe?”
“Sword?” she asked.
Rael kind of wanted the Violin Blade, but then again, he kind of wanted something simpler, and a sword was just that.
“Sure. But I’m not really interested in some Rare-ranked stuff. I’m looking for Epic-ranked stuff at least,” Rael said.
She raised a brow and glanced around. Then she let out a chuckle.
“Do you think this is the best I can do?”
Ah?
“Maybe?”
“Then you’re dead wrong.”
She pointed at the back door, then pointed at him.
“Follow me.”
