Gun of Ashes

Chapter 66: Iron and Blood

The rough propulsion system released massive flames and thrust, resembling a pillar of fire ascending sideways, accompanied by burning black-gray smoke spilling out.

"This is a technological breakthrough, Lorenzo. Remember the oil refinery in the north? We found that while this thing isn't very controllable, it has high energy content, making it very suitable as fuel. Currently, we don't know much about it, but after some alchemical treatment, it indeed shows certain capabilities. I feel this will be the energy that changes current industry."

Merlin explained everything beyond imagination to Lorenzo as he watched the armored battles below.

But Lorenzo had no time to think about those things now. Night Owl was really dedicated. Although it was just a momentary clash, Lorenzo could feel that this guy was genuinely trying to kill him.

It was unclear how long Night Owl had secretly trained, but his attacks were swift and extremely smooth.

The clumsy body beneath the propulsion system was agile now, making Merlin's description of 'clumsy' elusive.

Black Angel retreated quickly, but was clearly slower than the Sword Dancer with the propulsion system. Fortunately, Lorenzo made a rational judgment at the critical moment, forcing Black Angel to tilt to one side, using all its might to avoid the Sword Dancer's charge route.

This propulsion system indeed seemed like a whim of these researchers, crudely pieced together with steel plates. It was not only an experiment between armors but also an experiment for these new additions.

Like a wild bull, this thing's acceleration was fast but limited to straight-line travel. Lorenzo seized this, Black Angel surrounded and made a large turn, making it difficult for Sword Dancer to turn and counterattack. This was his chance, but suddenly fireworks rose, lighting Lorenzo's vision.

"No way!"

Lorenzo cursed furiously, as Sword Dancer made a sudden turn in its straight acceleration state, its mechanical structure visibly trembling intensely. This sudden lateral acceleration imposed a great burden on the armor. Logically speaking, the machinery should start disassembling, but the Demon flesh acted as a perfect binding material, stabilizing it all.

Burning fire columns surged from Sword Dancer's shoulder, these madmen had long thought of the mobility disadvantage, thus simply attaching small boosters from all angles, enabling it to achieve versatility in such an aggressive way.

But the craftsmanship appeared truly crude, merely disposable, extinguishing after a brief jet, with red-hot iron shells and empty small fuel tanks detaching from it, as if a knight shed his armor, followed by a slashing sword.

A piercing clanging of iron, Iron Feather forged a sturdy shield, clashing with the descending sword blade, sending sparks and metallic fragments flying.

This sword, after acceleration, had far more force than Lorenzo anticipated, sending the entire Black Angel flying, most Iron Feathers being severed, with tremendous force applied to Lorenzo, causing a feeling of dullness and pain in his chest.

Black Angel was shaken several meters away. After barely stabilizing its form, Iron Feather slowly opened, showing the sturdy chest armor was also dented slightly by this strike.

Sword Dancer also slowly turned around, not keen on attacking. This kind of acceleration was also quite a burden for the operator. Although brief, the impact just now didn't sit well with Night Owl.

Demon flesh played a role in stabilization and cushioning. Lorenzo and Black Angel were entirely enveloped by flesh, thus rendering this blunt-type damage ineffective.

Lorenzo didn't intend to give Sword Dancer any breathing space. Enhanced by the Perpetual Motion Pump, the fully armed Third Generation Armor, Black Angel, raised its wings, those broken Iron Feathers like flying blades, completely detached, darting towards Sword Dancer, yet Sword Dancer showed no intention of evasion.

The dense Iron Feathers struck the sturdy external plate armor, sparking some flames and impact, yet had no other effects.

To compensate for performance deficiencies, the external armor on the Third Generation Armor was incredibly solid, and this was just the first layer of defense, followed by internal plate armor.

"Come on, Lorenzo, don't lose too badly."

Merlin shouted, not fearing adding chaos.

Truth be told, Lorenzo was a bit agitated now, even contemplating whether to crawl out of Black Angel. If battling Sword Dancer as a Demon Hunter, although the enemy was somewhat unfamiliar, he at least knew his own body well, unlike controlling this strange armor.

Night Owl actually had the same thought as Lorenzo. The Armor of Original Sin was the top combat force of the Purification Mechanism, forbidden weapons specifically against Demons. However, Armor of Original Sin had never confronted another Armor of Original Sin; the combat method was still under exploration. Nonetheless, his combat method seemed effective so far.

Sword Dancer lifted its armored musket again. From the framework on its back, it seemed there were two more of these disposable weapons, primarily lethal against flesh bodies. Bola had once used it to carve out a burning path in the Demon flood, although it posed some threat to the Armor of Original Sin as well. Similar to Lorenzo's Dragon Breath Bullets, when targeting Armor of Original Sin, it was largely used to obscure vision and disorient the enemy.

Pulling the trigger, the surging Dragon's Breath swept through the workshop, the fleeting high temperature scorching the holding hand and turning it slightly red, while the back propulsions ignited again, as burning external fuel cans dropped down upon burning.
