Instigator and Protector of Violence

Chapter 151: [The Carefully Laid Trap]

The sunlight in Saint Kuanti was still bright.

The people who had been hungover all night got up the next day still chatting and laughing. Last night's revelry had brought everyone closer together. Someone even suggested that from now on, they should come to Saint Kuanti every year at this time to soak up the atmosphere.

Ethan thought it was a great idea. Often these somewhat private, group activities form a special circle.

This circle would bring benefits far beyond imagination.

Today's activity was to photograph the church in Saint Kuanti and Ethan praying with a group of kids.

The shooting process, of course, went smoothly, and the children cooperated very well.

In the afternoon, the plan was to shoot at the port and then arrange a feast in the evening.

But then, unexpected guests arrived.

Several pitch-black cars barged into Saint Kuanti, and then surrounded the arms factory.

The people who got out of the cars were not unfamiliar; in fact, Ethan was quite acquainted with them.

Marvin.

The Director of the Prohibition Bureau.

He personally led the team to Saint Kuanti. From his road-worn, slightly fatigued appearance, it was clear he hadn't slept at all when he arrived.

At that time, Ethan and his group had just finished lunch, and a group of journalists were taken aback by the scene.

They were eating and singing when they suddenly found themselves surrounded.

Moreover, if they remembered correctly, Director Marvin had previously been utterly defeated by Ethan in court.

What does he want this time?

"Ethan Polleta, we have evidence of your involvement in an illegal bootlegging case. We hereby officially arrest you on charges of organizing bootlegging."

After hearing Marvin's words, the people present thought, again?

Ethan sighed, then stood up and said to him, "Director Marvin, are you sure you really want to do this?"

Marvin stepped forward and spoke in a voice only the two of them could hear, "Yes, and this time, I will definitely not let you get near that liquor again. You're finished."

"I'm not talking about the booze."

Not about the booze, it was naturally about Albertine.

Albertine had colluded with the Sun God Sect.

"Don't think you can use that matter to threaten me. Even if I, plus others, all end up inside, we'll drag you down with us."

After Marvin finished these words, he finally let out a long breath.

He felt he had vented all the frustration he had suffered these days. He was going all out.

He wanted to show those people that the Prohibition Bureau could achieve something too.

"Alright, I'll go with you, but I'd like to ride in my own car. Given that you previously framed me, I'm not reassured. Until I meet my lawyer, I need to ensure my safety."

Ethan actually said this for the journalists on the scene to hear.

The journalists were initially there just to gather impressions, and didn't expect such a scoop.

The Prohibition Bureau framing Ethan again?

Such a headline was rare, juicy material recently.

Too bad they didn't know that something even more intense was erupting in Wenster.

With so many journalists watching, Marvin really couldn't do anything to Ethan, and could only agree to Ethan's request.

Sofia was again very worried, but Ethan looked at her and said with a smile, "It's fine, Sofia. It must be some kind of misunderstanding again. I'll just go with them to explain. Get in the car, I'll take you home first."

Thus, the afternoon shoot was directly canceled, and the journalists followed along to cover the story, as Ethan's incident was the big news.

As for the children, they stayed behind.

Conveniently, accompanying them were Crenzo and his friends, who all wanted to learn shooting. They could stay here for training.

Meanwhile, on Ethan's return journey, the situation in Wenster grew increasingly severe with the seawater flooding, breaking through the dike and submerging the residential areas.

Even though Oswaldo had already intervened, the angry and panicked citizens gathered outside the City Hall to protest, demanding an immediate halt to the land reclamation project.

Seeing that the guards at the City Hall could barely restrain the crowd, chaos erupted inside, but at this critical moment, they suddenly couldn't find a guiding figure.

Oswaldo was nowhere to be found.

Where was Oswaldo?

He was at Holiday Sunshine, sunbathing.

"I didn't expect it would be like this, how did he manage it?"

Vito still looked so laid-back, as if the dike washed away last night wasn't his asset, and those people who died weren't his subordinates.

"I don't know, maybe..." Oswaldo shook his head again, "It doesn't matter what, anyway... the result is the same."

The sentence came across as rather inexplicable.

"Can Marvin hold him off?" Vito asked another question.

"Probably not, but that doesn't matter either. What's important is catching him back." Oswaldo turned over to sun his back, "Next, what we need to do is wait, wait patiently."

-----------------------------

It was already late at night when Ethan arrived back at Wenster.

He first took Sofia home.

What was unexpected was that Ned hadn't gone to sleep yet, seeming to be waiting for Ethan.

Ned first asked Sofia to go upstairs to sleep, then said to Ethan, "Well done, just brilliant. How did you do it, Ethan?"

"Secret." Ethan smiled, "How's the situation now?"

"Heading towards what we want." Ned poured two glasses of red wine and handed one to Ethan.

"How about you, no problem this time? Marvin that mad dog seems to want to take you down with him. Need my help? With last time's matter, he'll suffer in court."

"No need, this time, I don't think I'll even have to go to court." Ethan took the wine, drank a sip, "Moreover, it's exactly what I wanted. What do you think, if Marvin became our dog, how would that be?"

"What are you saying?" This surprised Ned, he had no idea how it could be done.

"Actually, it's simple. If a person is repeatedly defeated, losing all his trump cards, beliefs, future, glory, and then someone who has dirt on him extends a hand and says, forget the grudges, let's work together, what do you think that person would do?"

Ethan said with a smile.

Ned looked at Ethan's smile, then called his name, "Ethan, oh, Ethan, Ethan, my god, are you really only nineteen years old? How do I feel like you're a more frightening man than I am?"

"Actually, I'm already twenty, I've had my birthday." Ethan clinked glasses with Ned and then downed his wine in one go.

"Alright, I think I should go. Tomorrow is an important day, I don't want to miss the chance to watch the show."

"Sweet dreams, Ethan, but still be careful of Joseph, he's been way too quiet lately."

"Don't worry, Ned, I've handled it very cleanly. Sweet dreams."
