Invincible Dad

Chapter 298: My Name is Daphne_1

Hearing the tremendous noise from the courtyard, Lin Tianxiong shot to his feet and demanded, "What's happening?!"

"Pfft!"

The words had barely left his mouth when a figure flew through the air, landing hard against the large wooden pillar beside Lin Tianxiong. It was a Seventh-Grade Martial Ancestor from the Lin Family. His face was deathly pale as he spewed a mouthful of fresh blood.

He stammered, "F-Family Head, we're under attack..."

After speaking, the Seventh-Grade Martial Ancestor's head lolled to one side, and he passed out.

Lin Tianxiong's expression was cold and hard.

Someone dared to cause trouble at his Lin Family's estate in Jiangbei? They were truly courting death!

He strode out of the living room to a sight that made his eyes burn with fury. His family members were littered across the ground, some severely injured and others unconscious.

In the very center of the courtyard, a young woman in a long white dress hovered in mid-air. Her skin was so delicate it looked like it could be broken by a touch, and her long, wavy golden hair draped over her shoulders.

Her emerald eyes were as calm as still water.

This woman was none other than the Two-Winged Angel, Daphne, though her wings were hidden at the moment.

She gently turned her head, her gaze locking onto Lin Tianxiong, the strongest person present.

Lin Tianxiong stared back at this uninvited guest, his pupils constricting.

The woman was barefoot and smiling faintly. This was despite her cruel methods, which had left dozens of Lin Family members injured, her hands still stained with blood.

But Lin Tianxiong had the strange impression that her body emitted an incomparably pure and holy light. Her mere glance felt like a spring breeze on his face, like the warm embrace of the sun.

TAP.

TAP.

TAP.

Stepping on the air itself, Daphne approached Lin Tianxiong one bare-footed step at a time.

Many Lin Family Martial Artists shouted angrily, "Protect the Family Head!"

Lin Tianxiong raised a hand, signaling for his clansmen to stand down.

Aside from the ancestors defending Chang'an or those in slumber or seclusion, he was currently the strongest member of the Lin Family. It was his duty to protect the clan, not to be shielded by clansmen whose Boundaries were lower than his!

"Who are you, and why have you attacked my Lin Family?" Lin Tianxiong said coldly. "If I don't receive an explanation today... the Lin Family is no soft persimmon that can be squeezed by just anyone!"

His words were domineering and laced with a threat.

Daphne's lips curled slightly, her smile unreadable—somewhere between mockery and pity. "I am here to seek cooperation with your Lin Family."

"Cooperation? Then why did you harm my clansmen?!" Lin Tianxiong demanded.

Daphne didn't answer. Instead, she lifted her hands to her sides and began muttering an incantation.

The next instant, a pillar of holy light descended from the sky, enveloping the entire Lin Family estate.

Those Lin Family members who had been on the verge of death from her attacks suddenly found their injuries completely healed. Their bleeding stopped, their wounds felt warm, and the pain they had felt before now seemed like a distant dream.

"This is—"

Lin Tianxiong's expression remained unchanged, but his heart was profoundly shaken. His curiosity and wariness toward this strange woman grew.

"Now, can we continue our discussion?" Daphne smiled.

Lin Tianxiong didn't refuse. He simply nodded.

No wonder not a single member of the Lin Family had died. The intruder clearly came with a specific purpose.

Lin Tianxiong waved his hand. "All of you, leave!"

In less than thirty seconds, the vast courtyard was empty. Seeing this, Daphne narrowed her eyes, her smile growing even wider.

She had been in Paris, Europe, where she discovered that Xu Lai was also a Foreign Cultivator. Suspecting his wife was a Spiritual Body, she had left Earth to find allies. Although she had found two, Daphne still felt it wasn't enough. She decided to look for more help in Hua Country.

After several days of observation in East Sea City, she concluded that the Lin Family of Jiangbei was the most suitable candidate.

They have a feud with Xu Lai and possess the necessary strength. They're the perfect sacrificial pawns.

"Why should I join forces with you against Xu Lai?" Once he understood her intentions, Lin Tianxiong asked grimly, "He is merely at the Seventh-Grade Boundary. My Lin Family can easily..."

"Xu Lai isn't from Earth. He killed Lin Ju, as well as Lin Song and Luo Yi, and he's the one who suppressed the beast horde," Daphne said with a smile. "Now, do we have grounds for cooperation?"

Lin Tianxiong's pupils contracted, his gaze filled with shock.

He wasn't surprised that Lin Song and Luo Yi had died at Xu Lai's hands; in fact, he'd had a dawning realization that this was the case.

But Xu Lai wasn't from Earth... Could he be from the Moon Clan?!

And the beast horde... he had suppressed it all by himself. No wonder there was no news of chaos on Sea Temple Island or in the East Sea.

"Then who are you?" Lin Tianxiong stared intently at Daphne. "I've never heard of you. With your level of strength... you must be in the Divine Gate Realm!"

"My name is Daphne," she smiled. "Let's join forces to kill Xu Lai. My terms are simple: after he is dead, everything that was his, including his corpse and his family, will belong to me."

Lin Tianxiong hesitated for only a moment before nodding.

Satisfied, Daphne left the Lin Family estate. "Then, here's to our future cooperation."

Outside the main gate of the Lin Family estate, Daphne hummed a little tune and stretched lazily. Her impressive figure drew the gazes of all who passed by.

The corners of her lips curled up. Suddenly, two gigantic, snow-white wings appeared on her back. With a single flap, she soared into the sky.

"An... an angel!?" a passerby exclaimed in shock.

But all that was left was a single white feather, gently drifting down from the sky.

...

The usually quiet school infirmary was busy with several patients today. As for their injuries... two male students had broken bones after falling while climbing over a wall to skip class and go play games online.

Liu Nanwei set their bones with a dark expression, glaring at them. "Couldn't you have just walked out the main gate? Did you have to climb the wall?"

"It's not the same if you just walk out. It has to be thrilling," one of the male students muttered. "Just like in high school, doing what you know you shouldn't."

Great. They were freshmen who had just started this fall.

Liu Nanwei's hands, still setting the bone, suddenly applied more force. The male student cried out in pain, "Ow, ow, ow!!!"

"Feeling the thrill now?" Liu Nanwei asked, applying even more pressure. "Hmm?"

The other student shivered in fear. She's so violent.

He looked at the name tags on Xu Lai's and Zhou Feng's desks and asked with a miserable expression, "Teacher Xu, Teacher Zhou, can you set my bone? I'm scared..."

As he spoke, he shot a careful glance at Liu Nanwei. The school doctor might be pretty, but my life is more important.

Zhou Feng shook his head. "I'm a psychologist. I don't set bones."

Xu Lai nodded. "I can."

As Xu Lai stood and walked over, the student gritted his teeth, trying to psych himself up. "As soon as this is over, I'm going to go confess to Ruan Lan."

Xu Lai paused. This is my sister-in-law's suitor?

The hand setting the bone unintentionally applied a little more force, and another agonizing scream echoed through the infirmary.

"Hahaha, serves you right!" the student Liu Nanwei was treating gloated. "You should take a good look at yourself! Do you think you deserve Ruan Lan? Only I—OW OW OW, IT HURTS!"

"Shut your mouth," Liu Nanwei said, shooting him a sideways glance.

The student whimpered quietly, seething but not daring to say another word.

Xu Lai finished setting the bone effortlessly and asked casually, "What is it you like about Ruan Lan? She's bad-tempered, has an average figure, and isn't even that pretty."
