Cultivating with Bragging System

Chapter 188: The Mastermind Behind the Scenes? The First Day of Sima Yulong's Tarnished Reputation! (4000)_1

"Hahaha, that's hilarious!"

"You should have seen his face just now! When I mentioned the Celestial Extinction Formation, he went white as a sheet. He got paler every time I said it!"

"And when he first showed up, that expression was priceless! His eyes were practically bulging out of his head!"

Dawn was just breaking. The disciples of the Sanqing Immortal Sect hadn't stopped walking, and they all roared with laughter as they talked about what had just happened. Shi Ming's performance had been truly comical. Wang Xiu listened to their discussion with a quiet smile, saying nothing.

Nearby, Xiang Tiange, clad in massive battle armor that made him look as tall as a giant, spoke in a deep, booming voice, "Junior Brother, that man ambushed us with a killing formation. This clearly wasn't about normal competition; he had murderous intent. By letting him go, aren't we inviting future trouble?"

Li Zuoyue chimed in, "Exactly! We should have at least captured him and found out who he is!"

Wang Xiu's expression remained calm as he smiled. "There's no need. I know who he is."

"Oh? Who?" Xiang Tiange asked, surprised.

"Shi Ming," Wang Xiu stated. "The personal and head disciple of Pavilion Master Ji Wushi of the Peeping Sky Pavilion."

He had noticed Shi Ming secretly spying on him that day on the Other Shore Ark. At the time, Wang Xiu had only deduced that he was from one of the families or sects that specialized in divination, but he couldn't be sure which one.

Later, he had specifically asked Zhang Yuge about it. The Longhu Immortal Sect had high hopes for Zhang Yuge, expecting him to seize the greatest opportunities in the Holy Academy and overshadow all the other prodigies. To that end, they had made extensive preparations, providing him with a list detailing every noteworthy young talent from the great Immortal Sects.

Wang Xiu had seen that list, which was why he had recognized Shi Ming at a glance.

...

"The Peeping Sky Pavilion?" the others murmured, frowning.

The Peeping Sky Pavilion had a profound history, spanning thousands of years. However, it never developed into a true cultivation powerhouse. Instead, its members acted more like merchants, moving through the mortal world and cultivating an intricate, vast network of connections with many ancient sects.

Even so, the Peeping Sky Pavilion still didn't have any slots for the Holy Academy. Although many knew that its foundation and strength were on par with ordinary Blessed Lands, from the Immortal Alliance's perspective, the Peeping Sky Pavilion wasn't qualified to directly obtain a spot.

All of Nanzhou's Immortal Sects had been forged in the blood and fire of the wars to defend the Human Race, and they had stood firm ever since.

Wang Xiu nodded. "He registered for the Holy Academy as a True Disciple of the Liuyao Blessed Land. Two of the four Seal Elders of the Liuyao Blessed Land are his sworn fathers."

The Liuyao Blessed Land was one of the ancient powers with close ties to the Peeping Sky Pavilion. It had been gaining momentum rapidly in recent years, with some lists even suggesting it was on the verge of becoming a top-tier Blessed Land. The Seal Elders were major figures within the Liuyao Blessed Land, second in status only to the Sect Master. Their positions were noble, and their cultivation was immense. Anywhere they went, they were treated as titans.

"No wonder that kid has so much valuable stuff on him..." Li Zuoyue said, stroking his chin. With two major powers backing him, Shi Ming's immense wealth was understandable.

Xiang Tiange pondered for a moment before saying, "Our Sanqing Immortal Sect has little to do with the Liuyao Blessed Land. We haven't had any contact in centuries. There's no history of kindness or conflict between us. Why would he try to kill us?"

Wang Xiu gave a faint smile. "The person he feels he must kill is probably just me."

The others were surprised for a moment, and then understanding dawned on them.

Without a doubt, the Divination Sect was an insurmountable mountain standing in the way of everyone in the world who made a living through divination. When the Divination Sect was at its peak, anyone else who practiced fortune-telling was considered little more than a street sorcerer. The name "Divination Sect" had suppressed them for countless ages.

Now, with the Divination Sect fallen, they had finally been able to catch their breath. But as Wang Xiu, the heir of the Divination Sect, began to distinguish himself and stand among Nanzhou's most dazzling prodigies, how could they not panic?

The slightest possibility that someone like Wang Xiu could lead the Divination Sect back to its peak was a nightmare for forces like the Peeping Sky Pavilion. They were fearful and trembling. It wasn't hard to understand why they would be willing to do anything, even take such desperate risks.

"Bastard!" Ji Zidian snarled, her pretty face flushed with rage. Arcs of thunder danced around her body, blasting a huge nearby tree into charcoal. "He can't have gone far. I'm going back to finish him off!"

She could not accept someone harboring murderous intent toward Wang Xiu. It was even more infuriating than if someone had targeted her directly. "Senior Brother Wang Xiu is such a good person, why should he have to die?"

"Don't be rash," Wang Xiu said, stopping her. He spoke slowly, "They may have the reason and motive to kill me, but don't you think attacking like this is a bit too bold?"

The world of the Holy Academy was, after all, a closed environment with a limited number of people. The major Immortal Sects could accept some losses among their geniuses undergoing the trials; only through life and death could true prodigies be forged to suppress their peers and claim all the glory.

They could die in the dangerous lands of the Holy Academy, perish under the claws of ancient Fierce Beasts, or even fall to cultivation deviation. But the one thing that was absolutely unacceptable was death by the schemes of other Immortal Sects.

Ultimately, the Immortal Alliance still existed. The Thirty-Six Heavenly Caves and Seventy-Two Blessed Lands were all allies, standing together on the front lines against the Demon Race. If something like this happened, there would be a thorough investigation, and no mercy would be shown.

Furthermore, Wang Xiu had already displayed extraordinary talent before even entering the Holy Academy. Nearly everyone knew he was this generation's dark horse and one of the Sanqing Immortal Sect's trump cards. To make a move on Wang Xiu meant being prepared to face the full wrath of the Sanqing Immortal Sect.
