The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 133: That Conclusion Was a Bit Too Hasty!

Li Jian led Jiang An and Zhang Yean into the Jiangtai Construction Site.

The three of them had not walked far when Mr. Zhang quickly came to meet them.

He smiled and asked, "Mr. Li, you came to the site to investigate so early?"

Li Jian nodded slightly.

"Mr. Li, can you make a preliminary conclusion about the fire that occurred at the gatehouse last night?"

Upon hearing this, Li Jian stopped and turned his gaze to him.

Seeing Li Jian staring at him like a suspect, Mr. Zhang quickly waved his hand.

"Mr. Li, I didn't mean anything else."

"I just want to communicate and coordinate with the family after your criminal police team has a preliminary conclusion."

"When Zhang Biao started working at the construction site, we bought him accident insurance."

"If there is a claim, the family should receive a considerable income."

After a brief pause, Li Jian replied, "We are conducting our work."

"We can basically conclude that the deceased was burned to death before the fire."

"As for the cause of the fire, it appears to be an electrical short circuit."

Mr. Zhang's tightly furrowed brow suddenly relaxed a bit.

He tilted his head and asked, "So it seems this is a case of accidental death by fire?"

Li Jian nodded.

"Based on the evidence we have, we can basically reach this conclusion."

"However, the final conclusion should be based on the issued official stamped document."

"Yes, yes!"

Mr. Zhang laughed.

"I know the Public Security Bureau has regulations. Mr. Li speaks without leaving any loopholes."

Li Jian added, "We are collecting blood samples from Zhang Biao's parents to confirm his identity biologically."

Mr. Zhang heaved a long sigh.

"As long as it's not a major safety accident or a homicide, it won't affect the progress of our project!"

Then, Mr. Zhang asked, "Mr. Li, why did you come here today?"

"Is it because of last night's fire?"

Li Jian looked around and said, "This time, we're not here to investigate last night's fire."

"We're here to investigate Liu Jun's death case."

Li Jian asked, "How many roads lead from the gatehouse to Liu Jun's dormitory?"

Mr. Zhang looked up and said, "The layout hasn't changed much in the past three months."

"After entering, the workers all turned right to go to the dormitory."

"Their dormitory is about 200 meters ahead."

Li Jian looked down the path in front of him.

"How many people stayed at the construction site on the night of the incident?"

Mr. Zhang recalled.

"Three months ago, our construction wasn't on such a large scale, not many workers."

"Approximately how many?"

"About a hundred or two, I can't remember the exact number."

"However, there's a work roster in the office, I can get it for you right away."

Li Jian nodded, "That would be very helpful!"

As Mr. Zhang hurried away, Zhang Yean said, "A range of 200 people, luckily I brought many fingerprint cards."

"No problem, we can team up for this."

"If it doesn't work, I'll call Mr. Qin from the police station to help with interviews and fingerprint collection."

Five minutes later, Mr. Zhang returned quickly with a small booklet.

"Mr. Li, this is the list of workers who were working here three months ago."

Li Jian took it, glanced over it, and smiled slightly.

"With this list, the investigation will be much easier."

"Thank you for your cooperation."

Afterward, Li Jian, Jiang An, and Zhang Yean quickly began their investigation.

The three had clear roles and worked well together.

Li Jian was responsible for questioning, Jiang An for recording, and Zhang Yean for fingerprint extraction.

Four hours later, they finally completed inquiries on everyone present at the site on the night of the incident.

However, from the memories and statements collected, no obviously suspicious individuals were identified.

All their hopes now rested on the results of the fingerprint analysis.

As the three walked to the entrance of the construction site, Li Jian said, "Mr. Zhang, thank you for your cooperation today; you've worked hard."

Mr. Zhang smiled and said, "Mr. Li, cooperation between the police and the people is necessary; only by catching the culprit can we proceed smoothly with construction."

He then looked at the two security rooms on the right side of the entrance.

The rooms were in disarray, still enclosed by police tape.

"Mr. Li, the guardhouse is still cordoned off."

"Could you remove the tape soon so we can begin repairs?"

Li Jian glanced over.

"Mr. Zhang, no problem, we will expedite our work to let you rebuild the security room soon."

"Today, our police team has already headed to Zhang Biao's hometown to collect blood samples."

"Once Zhang Biao's identity is confirmed, I'll arrange for the tape to be removed immediately."

As soon as he finished speaking, Mr. Zhang quickly clasped his hands in gratitude, "Thank you, Mr. Li, for your understanding."

Li Jian waved.

"We're leaving now! We'll inform you of any news immediately."

Just as Li Jian turned to leave, Jiang An suddenly said, "Mr. Li, I want to take another look at the fire scene at the gatehouse."

Li Jian was startled for a moment, then looked at the distant security room.

"Alright!"

"We're right here anyway, it's convenient."

Zhang Yean said, "Mr. Li, I also want to see it, and learn some site analysis techniques from the junior brother."

"No problem! Let's go together."

So, the three of them crossed the police tape and arrived at the entrance of the security room.

Compared to last night's billowing smoke,

the fire scene now appeared much brighter.

Jiang An stood at the entrance, observing attentively.
