Abyss Sequence

Chapter 32: Recruiting Allies

Most of the Abyssal Believers are alive and doing well, while those willing to help Wen Chongwu are either dead or imprisoned, which is obviously suspicious!

In Yan Luo's list, only a few individuals have not encountered any danger.

The contrast between these two lists is the best evidence for the true existence of the Abyssal Believers!

After checking the status of those on the two lists, Yan Luo and Sasa exchanged a glance and fell into a prolonged silence.

Even though Yan Luo did not believe that everyone on that list of Abyssal Believers was indeed an Abyssal Believer, if he were to take action, he would definitely investigate himself, but the shocking results made him somewhat angry.

If only one or two insightful individuals had died or been imprisoned, it might be explained as an accident, but with so many on the list experiencing 'accidents,' that clearly seems impossible.

"Abyssal Believers must die!" Yan Luo set the tone for the upcoming actions.

From now on, besides strengthening himself, Yan Luo also needed to find a way to investigate whether those on the list were indeed Abyssal Believers, and if so, find a way to deal with them.

Yan Luo alone could not accomplish this, but fortunately, he had already begun to build his own small circle.

Dealing with Abyssal Believers, even if he didn't trade benefits with them, as long as they were not Abyssal Believers, they would take action.

"Just back from the Abyss, I'm a bit tired."

Yan Luo stood up and said to Sasa, "I need to take a rest and contact Wu Zechuan and the others tomorrow."

Sasa nodded, "I'll keep researching then."

Watching Yan Luo walk upstairs, Sasa withdrew her gaze and looked at the Jade.

According to Yan Luo, he successfully activated this Jade in the Abyss, opening a space portal, with the other end leading to another world.

Yet earlier, Yan Luo couldn't activate the Jade.

At first, Sasa thought it was because the Abyss had the ability to 'connect space,' allowing the Jade to be activated, but now she felt that the 'other world' Yan Luo saw might actually exist in the Abyss.

This feeling came from nowhere, just an intuition.

......

The next day, after waking up, Yan Luo immediately checked on the status of Chen Shan and others, discovering that both Chen Shan and You Yifeng were online.

Indeed, since the demon tide had just passed, the number of city-breaking level demons in the Abyss was low, not enough to warrant the personal presence of the two major captains.

The Mountain and River Warband and the Glazed Group are both large warbands and leaders of Crimson No.2, having to take care of their younger members.

Crimson No.2 has many Hunters who can hunt city-breaking level demons, especially these newly emerged ones, who are easier to hunt.

With Chen Shan and You Yifeng both online, things would go smoothly.

Yan Luo first contacted Chen Shan and Wu Zechuan, wanting to explain something to them.

After sending this message, Yan Luo set off for the Hunter's Guild.

Wu Zechuan, having not long assumed the position of guild master, was not yet familiar with the work, spending almost eight hours a day in the office, with another two to three hours needing to go out.

Once familiar with the workflow, Wu Zechuan might become more at ease.

Upon arriving at the guild master's office, Wu Zechuan and Chen Shan were already waiting inside.

Hearing the door open, Chen Shan turned and smiled, asking: "What's the matter this time?"

Wu Zechuan nodded to Yan Luo and said, "I owe you a favor."

Hearing this, Yan Luo knew Wu Zechuan had attained his eighth Engraving and advanced to the Second Rank.

Yan Luo did not directly state his purpose, instead asking them, "Do you know about the 'Abyssal Believers'?"

Wu Zechuan and Chen Shan both frowned.

Chen Shan asked in a deep voice, "Where did you hear that name? Have you been in contact with them?"

As expected of the leaders of large warbands, they were indeed privy to some secrets.

Yan Luo nodded, "The demon tide nine years ago, which led to my parents' deaths, caused great harm to Crimson No.2 at the time due to the then Hunter's Guild master, Zheng Guoxian, being an Abyssal Believer. My parents' teammate, Wen Chongwu, survived that demon tide and chose to pursue the conspiracy behind it, which led to discovering the involvement of the Abyssal Believers."

"Those bastards!" Chen Shan slammed his fist on the desk, his expression grim.

Seeing Chen Shan and Wu Zechuan's expressions, Yan Luo asked, "Have you also had contact with the Abyssal Believers?"

Wu Zechuan sighed, "Not just contact; we even fought a battle against them. About five years ago, there was a notorious warband in Crimson No.2 known for snatching other people's prey, yet they were powerful and avoided provoking Hunters stronger than themselves.

"Normally, the Hunter's Guild should have intervened to resolve this, but you know what Daoist Li is like; he announced he would actively address the issue but secretly made a deal with that warband, providing them protection. With no choice but to act, we set a trap and killed the warband's members since they had also committed murder."

Chen Shan continued, "At that time, we were furious and, after defeating the warband, we didn't immediately kill them but questioned why they acted as they did. Given their abilities, even hunting demons should have yielded ample returns, more than robbing other Hunters' prey. Then someone in the warband revealed that their actions were led by the captain and vice-captain, and they robbed to distribute the spoils to their followers, while they personally took very little."

Upon hearing this, Yan Luo frowned.

With the leaders taking little for themselves and distributing most profits to those willing to assist in their deeds, there was undoubtedly another agenda.

"To get to the bottom of this, we infiltrated their homes and found evidence pointing towards the 'Abyssal Believers' collective," Chen Shan shook his head, "Ultimately, we couldn't pursue the investigation further and were advised to retreat by a now-retired senior, who said the ties between Abyssal Believers and the United Government were too deeply entangled for us to eliminate them alone. Some retired veteran Hunters are working to eradicate the Abyssal Believers, and if by the time we retire, we still wish to join this task, we can seek him out. At that time, we had just reached Sequence Three, without our current level of power, so we withdrew."

Saying this, Chen Shan looked at Yan Luo and asked: "Did you come to us this time to deal with the Abyssal Believers?"

Yan Luo nodded and sent Wu Zechuan and Chen Shan two lists, "These lists were compiled by Wen Chongwu. I want to investigate the people on them to find out if they are Abyssal Believers or not. Also, when I previously went to Lingquan City to retrieve some items, someone tried to hack my personal terminal, but fortunately, I had preemptively hired a hacker to monitor it. I had that hacker and his associates trace the source of the attack, eventually leading to Celestial City."

Chen Shan and Wu Zechuan exchanged a heavy look.

The wealthy residing in Celestial City hold significant financial power, a mere wave of their hands could disrupt the market.

If among Celestial City's wealthy there were hidden Abyssal Believers, the forthcoming actions against them would need extra cautiousness.

Upon reviewing the two lists Yan Luo sent, Chen Shan suddenly pointed out a name: "Ah Chuan, isn't this the senior who guided us before?"

The name pointed out by Chen Shan was 'Du Guqing,' on the trusted list compiled by Wen Chongwu, currently alive.

Seeing that name, Wu Zechuan nodded, "With our strength now, we should pay him a visit when we have time."

"I'll do it," Chen Shan took up the responsibility, patting his chest, "With the number of city-breaking level demons in the Abyss still low, I don't need to enter the Abyss. Idle hands are the devil's playthings, I might as well visit Senior Du Gu."

The decision was made, and Chen Shan and Wu Zechuan joined the fight against the Abyssal Believers.

At this point, Yan Luo asked: "Besides the two of you, who else in Crimson No.2 can be trusted?"

Chen Shan and Wu Zechuan exchanged a glance and in unison said, "Helena!"
