Have you ever been away from the Secret Realm, and then reunited with it?
Julia's mind went blank, unsure how to describe humanity's plight.
She definitely needed to include this in her report, as it indicated that human power was weak now, and if the elves were to interact with humans in the future, the power in their hands would become a formidable weapon.
Before humanity decided to sever ties with the Secret Realm, they repatriated most of the aliens stranded in their world, but a small number wanted to remain, including some elves.
Because, compared to other races, elves have always been few in number, so in this book, Julia could even see the names of each elf who decided to stay in the human world.
Even for elves, over eight thousand years is an extremely long time, so elves like Julia's generation could only hear about humans from their ancestors.
And now, humans have appeared in their world once more.
So, could they use the methods from the past to enter the human world?
Julia closed the book, deciding to include this in the report as well.
The interactions between humans and the Elf World had to go through the Secret Realm; when humans severed ties with the Secret Realm, they also severed ties with other worlds.
Now, the human world was once again intersecting with the Secret Realm, and if they didn't intend to cut off ties again, perhaps the elves could use past methods to go to the human world.
To the world called 'Midgard'!
......
Yan Luo punched the Stone Beast, breaking its shell and digging out its core.
The core of this Stone Beast was an irregular stone block. Yan Luo tested it with a Magic Power measuring device and found its core Power was as high as 4028 Qi.
As long as the core wasn't shattered, the Stone Beast wasn't considered dead.
Held in Yan Luo's hand, the core was still trying to absorb surrounding flying dust to recondense a shell.
Yan Luo raised his hand and broke off a protruding sharp stone, then noticed his hands were already covered in blood.
The Stone Beast wouldn't bleed; it was all his own blood.
But he seemed to be used to the pain, as he hadn't felt any while punching the Stone Beast's shell.
With just a glance, Yan Luo looked away and put the broken-off stone block into the Jade, attempting to activate the Jade.
The core of elemental-type magical creatures is a more potent energy source than Magic Crystals. Once the stone block was placed into the Jade, it successfully activated the engraving, projecting a space portal before him.
This left Yan Luo a bit confused.
Was he in the Abyss, or the elves' original world?
If it was the elves' original world, why could the Jade project a space portal? If it was the Abyss, why did no materials drop when the creature died?
Could it be that the Abyss, in its continuous development, would eventually transform into a semblance of the real environment?
Yan Luo couldn't figure these things out; he just wanted to return to Blue Star and inform others about what happened here.
Even though a space portal was opened, the other side wasn't Crimson No.2, nor any Abyss.
Yan Luo took the consumed stones out of the Jade to close the space portal.
Having tested opening the space portal, he now ought to return to Blue Star.
Yan Luo turned back and started heading back along the marks he'd left earlier.
He hadn't strayed far from the transport point earlier, so jogging back took less than four hours to get near it.
"This should be it."
Yan Luo looked around and found no other markers, then took out the Stone Beast core again and placed it in the Jade.
The Jade emitted a light, forming a space portal in front of Yan Luo. He quickly walked towards it and passed through its door.
Beyond the space portal was a giant tree, Yan Luo's toe hit its root as he passed through, momentarily stunning him.
Then, Yan Luo looked up and scanned his surroundings.
"Is this... the Crimson Abyss?"
It wasn't a projection outside Crimson No.2, but the real Crimson Abyss.
He had initially opened the space portal from a projection outside Crimson No.2, yet returned to the Crimson Abyss.
It seemed that Blue Star and the Elf World were connected through the Abyss.
Thinking of this, Yan Luo looked down at the Jade in his hand.
This piece of Jade likely was left by their ancestors; Blue Star once faced the Abyss, but it's unknown how they severed the Abyss's connection with Blue Star, making Blue Star appear as it did a decade ago.
However, for the current Blue Star, even if they found a method to sever the connection with the Abyss, it would be impossible to do so.
Blue Star's original technological development path had its limits locked, unable to rise further, and losing the Abyss would mean the end of civilization on this planet.
Even someone like Yan Luo, who harbored deep hostility towards the Abyss, dared not speak lightly of 'destroying the Abyss' after knowing the technological development path's limit was locked.
Yan Luo was as familiar with the Crimson Abyss as his own home; just a glance around told him he was in the Dark Forest.
Only the Dark Forest had so many giant trees, but he still didn't know exactly where in the Dark Forest he was.
Yan Luo took a few steps and encountered a Dangerous-level Demon.
He sighed at the sight of the creature, but the next second, he lunged forward, pinning it down, tearing its fur with his bare hands, and biting into the spine of the animal-shaped demon.
The demon's bones were hard enough to withstand cold weapons' strikes.
But against Yan Luo's teeth, they were as fragile as a cracker, shattering with a bite.
Yan Luo resembled a mad zombie, continuously stuffing demon flesh into his mouth, and the creature could only let out a miserable whimper before Yan Luo devoured it whole, unable even to fight back.
After so long, eating the blood-reeking raw meat, Yan Luo endured his inner irritation and disgust, consuming half the demon.
The beast-shaped demon's death made its body vanish, dropping a bloody piece of meat. Yan Luo caught it with his hand, sighed again, and took another bite.
He had no choice; having spent the entire night traveling, searching for Magic Crystals and suitable substitutes, and after battling with the Stone Beast, his body had accumulated considerable fatigue. If he didn't replenish his Power, Yan Luo felt he might not make it out of the Crimson Abyss.
At least within the Crimson Abyss, Yan Luo needed to keep his Power full to prevent fatigue from overtaking him.
Observing the trees' growth direction, Yan Luo identified his position.
He was likely in the northern part of the Dark Forest and needed to go straight south to find the entrance connecting the Crimson Abyss to Crimson No.2.
Thus, Yan Luo stepped forward resolutely, heading south.
Along the way, the Stone Beast core he carried constantly tried to recondense a shell, receiving multiple blows from Yan Luo but relentlessly continuing to form a shell.
Elemental-type magical creatures don't feel fatigue; they only have 'survival' and 'death' states.
Incidentally, even broken down to just a single core, the Stone Beast technically remains 'alive.' Only by shattering the core would it be considered 'dead.'
Yan Luo encountered many demons en route and quickly realized it was a good time for training, so he poured some booster gem powder into his mouth.
Fighting with demons counts as training, with effects even better than in a gravity chamber.
When Yan Luo received the entrance signal tower's signal, he felt his physique might be stronger than before he went to the Elf World.
Standing in front of the entrance, Yan Luo turned off his personal terminal, then crossed the spatial membrane to return to Crimson No.2.
Turning off the personal terminal meant Yan Luo couldn't interact with any smart device, not even able to open his own door.
However, he was likely listed as wanted on Blue Star, being immediately spotted by surveillance upon returning home.
Even while in Crimson No.2, he had to avoid the cameras.
He couldn't even return home; where else could he go?
For a moment, Yan Luo stared at the sky through the protective shield, suddenly feeling a bit lost.
